I'm not sure, but I've heard that back when Vin Diesel was playing 47, he wanted to make a spinoff series based on his own ideas. As a longtime fan of the series, I would predict that it would be disastrous and demean the deep, symbolic story the true game has. If you play the games, you can easily see the ways the movie deviates from 47's true character. Hitman isn't a run-n-gun action story, and 47 doesn't care who dies, even arguably Diana, as long as he lives and gets paid.

He avoids unnecessary bloodshed, for example he helps Mei Ling escape twice, but he takes zero risks when it comes to his own safety; for example, he kills a mailman in Blood Money after he delivers 47 a very sensitive package, in case he read any of it. He also nearly kills Agent Smith despite being very familiar with him after he stowed away in 47's van at Las Vegas, only sparing him because he had a job proposal.

I think the film was pretty good. Even though 47 was not as cold blooded as he is in the game, I really liked it! I mean, he's a human after all...
I liked both the film and the actor they chose for agent 47. Timothy did a great job with the character.
