  • I never took ballet, but I regret that now. This was a nice video. I love the shoes at 0:19. :)

  • I hated ballet because I could not touch my toes to my head like all the other girls! But it is still a good memory being in the performances. I loved my special ballet slippers! I really really liked the costumes the most and the fantasy of the stories and characters.

  • Those Tenniel drawings are just so GOOD...!!

  • Yes, always have been my favorites.

  • Nice ....

  • Thanks!

  • Beautiful childhood memories!!!

study dance and read Alice in Wonderland, back to that time!!!

Thanks!!!*weeknightingale* for letting us to be kids again for a moment !!!

  • Thank you, Elba. Gracias! I enjoy your wonderful passionate videos of the fantastic Franco Corelli. Music is the international language. And we all share similar childhood memories no matter where we live. It is good to think and remember as a kid.

  • An evocative piece, very sweetly edited.

  • Belated thank you!

  • how lovely, Karolyn!

I took ballet lessons too when I was five (In Vienna), I am still in love with ballet (Nureyev!) and classical music...

    hugs,

  • Thanks for your kind greeting and for watching, Gabriela. I think almost every little girl can relate to my story. Wish I had more photos but they are lost in time now but not in my memory.

  • Very cool story. Dreams are for the young I guess, which seems unfair since they already have youth and energy on their side. All we have is wisdom and patience as a prize and where's the fun in that.

  • Thanks, James, it's a nice memory to have.

Didn't you have your little peddle car? I seem to remember you made a video of photos when you were a little boy. What you said is true.

    ♡ ƙarolyn

  • I did have a peddle car till it got stuck in the mud. :(

My thing was always guns or toy soldiers. I must have had about a thousand soldiers. I'd spend all day setting them up for a battle and then was usually too tired to act it out. :P

  • I used to play army soldier with the neighbor boy. He cheated and always knocked all my soldiers down. I really liked playing by myself with my Dad's chess set.LOL!

  • Haha, maybe I shouldn't admit this but I used to play Barbies with my two elementary school girlfriends. GI Joe was a happy soldier. :)

  • Kids will kids.

  • What a beautiful childhood memory!! I too took tap and ballet like so many young girls. Oh how I dreamed of becoming a famous ballerina and dancing in Swan Lake...but alas, with my father being a professional magician I was to follow in his 'footsteps'.

*skipping through the looking glass with you*

    Heart hugs~Nancy

  • Today kids have 16mm, VHS or now HQ digital video of their recitals and school plays. I have some old photos and some I can't find but I know they are somewhere in a box. I always felt like a fairy princess though. Skip.. skip..shuffle..tap ..tap..oops!

Fun to reminisce about our childhood. Thanks, Nancy.

    How fascinating MAGIC!

    ♡ ƙarolyn

  • Yes magic! My father was a professional magician, my sister and I had our own magic show when I was about 10 or 12. And now I am married to a magician!!

Anyway, my hubby surprised me with a pair of tap shoes a couple of years ago...we have hardwood floors..hehe. Now he wishes he had given me toe shoes instead!!

  • ♡ ƙarolyn

  • I have a memory like yours only my shoes were black. I wore those shoes everywhere I went and Mama let me wear sox with them if I wanted to. Thanks for sharing. That;s a great memory.

  • You are very welcome ,G.

Thanks for commenting you gave me the inspiration to make this silly video. Fond childhood memories.

How sweet! I know the feeling I wanted to wear those slippers everywhere too.
