@disturbedisbeast Nope. I'm a Chili Pepper and Frusciante fan and I'll go as far as to say John Frusciante isn't even a musician compared to Guthrie Govan. The thing about John is he thinks his playing is perfect. He ASSUMED Frank Zappa would let him in his band and labelled himself a musical prodigy for knowing a few things about chord progressions. His phrases are pretty much all the same. Guthrie on the other hand has been learning everything possible about music since he was a kid.

@bill14231393 I never really looked at that aspect with much focus I more paid attention to his music instead of how he was as a person. I thought he said he didn't want to audition but i never really got that kind of attitude from him. I was just comparing the motion that they express in their instruments. I was saying that Guthrie is like more technical so he can play very clean and fast and express emotion similar to that of what I get from listening to john.

@disturbedisbeast Last night I was watching a video of a great player. I was so moved by it, goose bumps, chills, etc. Then to my surprise I read a comment, "This solo has no emotion." In the end, it's subjective. Whatever musical elements are important to someone, then the players who have those qualities will appeal to them. I think some people (any of us) can be overly idealistic about music without considering how others may hear it. Also, music can be expressive without sacrificing form.

@disturbedisbeast Of course I've gotten different feelings from music. I just think the whole "John frusciante plays with emotion" thing his fans always say is a load of shit. He's really not that great of a guitarist, and all the silly faces he makes on stage won't change that.

@ACDCwarmachine fives is in 5 4 time, sevens is in 7 4. It's common to split them up so in the group of five you have either 2/3 or 3/2, and sevens similarly only with 3 and 4 groupings. listen for that and it helps you count it :)
