  • Good lord!!!

  • I suddenly think i need to rethink my wanting to live by the sea

  • i feel bad for the person who works in the lighthouse

  • imagine if you forgot to bring some toilet roll...someone has to go all that way to bring you some.

  • I'd be sleeping like a baby.

  • omg

  • Crazy

  • Those buildings must be crazy strong to be able to withstand that kind of beating :\

  • wow...incredible

  • damn it must be hard :) to get to the work on time in that weather, or get back to close windows if you forgot :)

  • wouldn't want to live in one of those houses dont think id be able to sleep at night

  • its crazy to think how they even built them to begin with

  • Damn nature you scary

  • @ midatlanticcycle - no offence taken, after sending the comment i actually thought "probably just a different (and humorous) way of saying "WOW!"

(americans in a german course once asked me, "what's the thinnest book in the library?" i:?!? and them: "AUSTRIAN HUMOUR!" i found this quite unfunny, of course, but probably they were right...?)

  • beautiful...scary but beautiful...and "chapeau!" to "wikichris" - i guess i would have sh** into my pants had i been in that lighthouse!

  • The fury of the water is just relentless! Incredible..

  • there a wave coming right before i head home first there will be warning a heart palpatation leave if you choose to stay tha's on you but you may end up in the psych unit. the first wave will come 10 minutes before i leave and subsequent waves will follow every five minutes along with the waves there going to be something in the air you will get the same warning once you come within a mile radius of my presence. it's a epileptic attack for road bound eyes and panic attack for sky eyes.

  • I would love to have been in that lighthouse.

  • they must be held together with some mighty strong sticky tape!! =)

  • time for some fresh air... maybe not

  • how in God's name did they ever even build these things? i mean the french can't even build a decent car.

  • @midatlanticcycle i am not french but this is not a nice thing to say - you must be german or japanese then, because apart from these two: which other nation does build "a decent car"?! (and no, i am not german nor japanese either) - but re-reading your comment i suppose i am just unable to properly appreciate real admiration...?

  • @MrVelorowdy my apologies. i'm american and we don't like offending anybody. i guess i should have just asked how in the world was this light house ever built on that bed of rockpile. not meaning to make fun of anyone.

  • how the hell did man build that lightower and made it so strong

  • and some people is afraid of the beach xD

  • that is beyond amazing

  • Mozart!

  • Allah unleashes a small show of his power, thanks to Allah!

  • poseidon it's really really angry... =)

  • heroic struggle against the nature~~~~~~~~~~~

  • Reminds me of Sylvia Plath's, 'Finistere'.

  • O kurwa

  • Nature Art, beautiful

  • Maybe we should harness the power of the waves instead the puny power which we get from the noisy and ugly windmills.

  • The wonderful thing about nature is that: can 'be extremely sweet or extremely violent. And we humans can never bend to our will.

    Beautiful, thank you.

  • Left speechless. Simple as that.

Bravo.

  • It looks strange and beautiful.

  • Timing of Normandy Invasion had to be perfect...or

  • Beautiful......it looks like a ghost town......where is this I wanna go there

  • OMG! Imagine BUILDING that! Those stone-masons earned thier money...

  • After watching for about 2 minutes thinking about the lighthouse crew, I suddenly realised that it was being filmed from a helicopter. In that wind. Bloody hell, that pilot's got some balls!

  • the power and energy the ocean has boggles my mind

  • The lighthouse stands majesticly in the name of human soul. It stands majesticly and proudly.

  • mega kudos to those staying in the lighthouses..thats if they are manned...and even more to the heli pilots filming it!!!...some steady rollers coming in there too

  • God Almighty Father...why doing this???

  • lets hear it for the helicopter pilots that made these images possible, right?

  • Wow have the seas around there always gotten that big tho?

  • Sometimes man can defeat nature

  • thats 1 job i dont want EVER!

  • Damn, i'd love to go there just like for a day!!! A wonder if that is possible?

  • hey mum look at this job being advertised "good pay, sit down watch tv, play playstation, watch youtube, turn light on at night, turn light off in morning, chuck dishes out the window......just don't go outside"

  • @tokoregz hahahahahhhaa

  • To Sluwp: This music is BEAUTIFUL!!!! It SOOOO perfectly fits what you are watching on the video. What is the name of the piece, who is the composer and what symphony and choir is it? St. Martin in the Fields?

  • nossaaa que medoo

  • Gotta get my surfboard out! :D

  • wow!!!

  • I'm surprised the helicopter wasn't clipped by a huge wave, then the light house keeper probably be saying FML right now lol

  • @BBVCorvettec62005 That wasn't the rescue helicopter.

  • the ocean scares the living shit out of me.

  • @chodewarriors1123 You and me both, my friend! No one and nothing made-made is a match for it.

  • @ramjetrabbit ya u know that we have only explored 5% of it

  • @chodewarriors1123 That is an awesome concept. Who knows what marine life could be right there in front of us, which may contain the cure for cancer, AIDS, diabetes, Alzeheimer's Disease, etc. We just haven't discovered it (or them) yet. At the rate we're polluting and destroying things on this planet, we may not have the chance to find out either. So much for my soap box... Thanks for your kind response.

  • i feel sorry for light house keeper !:(

  • @TheMorenita2010 There isn't a lighthouse keeper on the Phare de Tévennec lighthouse - it was automated in 1910 and only maintenance crews visit it these days (in fair weather). According to legend, the lighthouse was reckoned to be cursed back in the old days and crews that stayed there either went mad or died of violent deaths. It is a very dangerous stretch of water, given to 6 knot spring currents - suicide to cross at night.

  • I could watch this all day

  • needs more cow bell

  • @chickenpoper how the FUCK is cow bell related to this video ?

  • The most amazing thing is.....the lighthouse didn't break down....kudos to french construction lol...

  • best time to go surfing me thinks!!!! lol

  • I just love the theophony of God!! I like the fact that you used a part of Mozart's Requiem Mass music to this video.

  • it is in these moments that Britain is the most beautiful thank you for these beautiful images.

    Breizh da Viken

  • how do they build it in the first place?

  • @tctk1 they where built when the weather was good.

  • Where is 2:33 located?

    It looks computer animated.

  • @joyann1 Winter storm on the tip of Brittany (France)

  • very cool

  • that is how the ocean tells us to our face "I WIN!"

  • nobody wants to work in such places except me ... my dream is to work there in old age

  • are you sure dude...?

ya guys this is totally the best spot to build a light house!

  • Can't they operate the light with remote control? why do people have to sit their?

  • Wow, watching the sea do its thing is so very humbling, Very beautiful video and the sound mix is just superb.thank you very much.

  • this is GLORIOUS!!!!! The eternal thunder of the great atlantic storms...

  • something really beautiful about this .How on earth did they build the lighthouses

  • There is enough energy in just one of those waves to power a city like Paris for an hour. Can you imagine the forces at work here. Well done French Folks, you took on Nature and won.

  • If I would sit there it would scare the living crap out of me.

What if a wave is actually powerful enough to tear the tower down 0_o

  • @Nexigen92 The wave is being broken by the rock underneath the tower so about 70% of the force is being taken by the rock and the angle of the tower is that so the other 30% is dispersed that way.......There's some engineering involved in these beutiful towers.

  • That truely scares me...

  • I've read about only 17 boarding on the rock the first year of construction. You know, it's almost everyday underwater and building there during XIX century should have been awful. I love Breizh!

  • Whoa

  • That is awesome! Do people live inside them and do they stay when storms like this hit??

  • looks like earth is mad at us

  • Not FRANCE, it's BRITANNY (We are in France but we feel breton). This towers was built in XIX century, and it takes 14 years for buid it, it's amazing ! It was certainly a very difficult job to keep the lighthouse.

  • @BroBZH Crétin va, c'est bon arrête ton char (le "not france, it's brittany"). SORRY FOR NON-FRENCH SPEAKERS... but I had to tell smthg to BroBZH...

  • It makes me wonder how they ever were able to build those things in the first place. With the amount of time it takes to build it would seem to the foundations could be washed away.

  • Astonishing, beautiful and frightening yet so majestic...incredible footage

  • fuck how do you get home from the pub.

  • The Mozart music with this video is simply perfect.

  • wow.I wouldn't want to be the lighthouse keeper.

    I love lighthouses.

  • surfs up

  • All the video takes place in BRetagne (France) i know that cuz i live in Bretagne and this kind of weather condition are incredibe to see (to sea ? lol), to hear.. Its just like armagedon but love it!!! :D

  • Mommy can we go home now...well son this is our home...

  • Thanks for sharing and the information, very interesting indeed

  • This is not French,it would have surrendered by now!

  • @yowpete : Stupid moron! Actually the only war we almost lost was WW2 ! You american actually never won a single war ! Learn your fucking history ! I'm french and i would be glad to kick your ass! You dumb FuK

  • @cerveauxelectriques I would have to say when your enemy is having victory parades down the main street of your capital and their leader is vacationing in your museums on vacation you have pretty much lost the war.

As far as brushing up on history you might want to crack a few books too as far as loosing wars.

French& Indian War ... lost canada

War of 1812.. annialated in Russia

War of 1815 ...lost at Waterloo

War of 1870-1871 lost to germany

    WW2.. lost entire country,

  • @yowpete HAHAHAHAHAHah It would have surrendered and collaborated by now hahaha love it!

  • How could a guy get any sleep in a lighthouse like that?

  • holy fucking christ geezus!

  • i wanna know who the fuck had the great idea to put the lighthouses there

  • @chadman2115 If you're being serious, they were put there to keep ships from running up on the rocks. Better to build an amazing structure and pay someone to live in it (before automated beacons) than to loose crew after crew on the same rocks. In reality it really is/was a brilliant idea, and an ideal solution to a horrific problem.

  • This is Chuck norris' holiday home!

  • i know it's sounds weird buy discovery channel should make a documentary series about lighthouses around the world....i think it would be quite interesting....

  • how the hell are these building still standing?

  • wonder if they have to go outside for a smoke

  • intense!

  • these are disturbing yet incredible pictures

  • damn..imagine what it would sound like inside!!

  • the Ocean is coming for us all

  • spirituelle..

    fréquence,

    où ... en 2007? ces o'chien soleil hélios ö ?

  • Nature certainly has a way of putting us humans in our place!

  • aaaah the atlantic ocean

    3 day laterrr

  • I'm glad i havn't seen an annoying chuck norris comment on this video

  • The ocean obviously doesn't want that structure there.

  • Jeez, that helicopters engines are quiet

  • legend...faking...dary

  • Dear Sluwp, I cant find nowhere that the particular lighthouse has been collapse, even the wikipedia isnt saying that that one lighthouse has been collapsed in 2008...

    can you explain this?

  • Yeah, you couldnt pay me enough for that job.....

  • @AlYassou3Rabbi nah, most lighthouses are unattended these were probably empty at the time

  • 1 word. EPIC !!!

  • JOB VACANCY: Lighthouse keeper. Suit single male. Must enjoy isolation and extreme weather conditions.

  • @yakidk89 I'm in! I would love this.

  • honestly id wait between wave crashes to run out side and yell king kong aint got shit on me!!!! then run back inside as the next wave comes

  • I bet theres lots of property, and houses for sale in that place.

  • Is the lighthouse door watertight?

  • sock rey bluuuuuu

  • wow........

  • I could live here. WOW! Imagine just finding periods of time calm enough to build the lighthouse, docking, etc. I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!

  • theres a positive side of this, the lighthouse owners dont need to wash them

  • so freaking exciting!

  • Oh god every hole in my body would be screaming in sheer terror if I woke up in one of thoes light houses that day.

  • to the light house keeper, mate u have balls of steel! secondly i hope who ever built that used solid foundations!
