BUT THEIR WEED WOULD SUCK, BOOZE WOULD BE BITTER AND THE CIGS WOULD ALL BE NEWPORTS.
Received a letter from our insurance company a couple days before the bill passed Congress. They said if the health care bill passed, we should expect higher premiums... Not happy.
Health insurance is expensive because govn't is limiting competition. You are not allowed to get cheaper insurance from a company in one of the 50 states and use it in your own state because of govn't regulations.
Competition reduces prices for consumers. Everyone knows monopolies and oligopolies are bad, especially if it is govn't.
The corrupt politician obama is giving the TRILLION dollar govn't insurance contracts to large insurance companies who bribed and lobbied obama.
Lets just suppose that it does pass. 34 Attorney Generals in as many states are already preparing to immediatey challenge the constitutionality of the mandate forcing all Americans to buy health insurance in lieu of jail time.
When the Supreme Court strikes down this mandate [and they will] as being unconstitutional, what then?
The major sorce of the funding to pay for it all will suddenly vanish and everyone's premiums will skyrocket thru the roof.
In 2002 Rod Blagojevich was elected Governor of Illinois, mostly on the back of huge union campaign contributions. To pay back the unions Blago signed an executive order in 2003 virtually making every healthcare worker in Illinois a union member overnite, without even a single vote.
This is exactly what Obama intends to do on a national level as a payback to SEIU for their $60 million campaign contribution. This isn't about healthcare for Americans. Wake up America, you've been had!
Obama canceled spring break trip: Originally scheduled for next week was Obamas Asia trip with his wife and children for one week, a trip he called important for foreign policy. Some House Reps were rumored to be angry at this spring break trip disguised as a foreign policy trip. Today, Obama delayed the trip for 3 days, shortened the number of days, and decided not to take his wife and kids with him. Given his history of parties and trips, some people dont doubt this rumor is true.
You partisan dip spits need to understand how money come into existence so you will understand how the two parties work for the central bank and not you and me. After all, it doesn't matter what "govt." program congress passes, if they can't get the central bank to finance it, it will never come into existence. That is why the "debate" is between a govt" insurance ponzi scheme and a "govt" enforced private insurance ponzi scheme, they are both what the central bank want to pay for Healthe care
When Obama says it lower premiums he means for the 7% who qualify for subsidized plan. When Obama says you won't loose the coverage you have he means only if you have a full medical the is with in the standards set by the commission in the bill. Obama say this will reduce the deficit! OMG there isn't anyone who believes that. The cost est are 6 years of spending for ten years of taxing. Remember medicare cost were 10 time what they estimated. Medicaid was 5 times the first 3 years.
The ONLY premiums that will be low, will be the ones NOT PAYING ANYTHING because the rest of us are paying for them with our taxes. Just wait until the illegals start getting free health care, I believe there will be hell to pay.
Sen. Dick Durbin, March 10, 2010: Anyone who would stand before you and say well, if you pass health care reform next years health care premiums are going down, I dont think is telling the truth. I think it is likely they would go up.
President Obama, March 8, 2010: Our cost-cutting measures mirror most of the proposals in the current Senate bill, which reduces most peoples premiums.
If the bill reduces most people's premiums from what they would otherwise be, then they will reduce most people's premiums. It's basic syntax. Not even your ideology can twist this one.
@Ducky1987 Bullshit. Logic predicts that government intervention into this aspect of thge private sector will increase premium costs MUCH higher than the normal rate. They'll jack the prices up as much as they can in anticipation of the fact that the go't will undercut their rates when the bill is passed! Essentially the Fed is creating a kind of financial white coat syndrome: The mere threat of the bill will cause an increase in -premium costs.

The bill will raise premiums for the 85% who already have Insurance. It will raise taxes on all. To give 7% low cost insurance. The bill gives Insurance companies billions of tax dollars (your money) in subsidies for uninsured. There are new taxes on medical procedures and devices that will had to higher cost and premiums. It has 159 new agencies and programs the taxpayer will be on the hook to pay for forever. It cuts medicare but expands medicaid. Tell me how it reduces premiums? It doesn't!

51 vote rule will make it easy so go ahead... set the new precident. idiots...
Well they're not going to get the 51 votes it turns out. So our Democratically elected slimeballs are now attempting to get the Congressional rules office to change the rules so they don't need them. Imagine that: Can't win the game so we change the rules.
The only truth that ever came out of his treasonous mouth was the fact that he was going to change America. He is about to change America into the mold of his Marxist's heroes.

@Ovedya2006 - I agree. Obama knows the real solution is allowing the free market be a free market. His BS about the govt. being another competitor is only plausible to those who get deery-eyed for him. You can't argue with jock-supporters, I meant Barack-supporters.

@RonPaulGeorgeRingo Ya Obama wants to get those Chinese made windmills up as fast as possible. Thats about all the job recreation you are going to get from this administration.
The problem being is that no one in Washington is capable of telling the truth, nor would they if they could. This is all political double-speak, trying to appease the masses to get their socialist health care through and then to build on it from there. Come on November!!!!! Vote them ALL out and keep voting them all out until they get OUR Message of CHANGE!!!!
Premiums will go up anyway. It's a monopoly!!! The Health Care companies will increase and are increasing premiums as a blackmail against the reform. WHAT A SURPRISE!!!
This is the reason they should pass the public option and go to single payer for once and for all and if the democrats are smart enough they will do that. BTW if you have an exchanche place as the Congress has, you can change your insurance company and go to someone much cheaper. If you stop the monopoly you can get it.
and BTW if the pass the public option in time they will go down with real competition. 41 Senators are now for the public option, time to get 51 votes
Ah...over 11,000 healthcare insurance companies is hardly a monopoly. A public option would cause ten times more problems than what it's supposedly intended to solve. In fact the CBO warned Congress about this MONTHS ago, but does it ever listen to reason? Have our ELECTED officials listened to their constituents who almost overwhelmingly believe that this is the wrong thing at the wrong time? No, instead they persist that this boondoggle is good for us. BULL!!!

Record deficits, Obama doubling national debt in just a year, Medicare/Medicaide/SS all bankrupt under any GAAP accounting principles, and Congress making sure they will never have to be under any of these programs or the socialized medicine bill, YET we still have the mentally challenged that believe these programs will be good for us. Truly amazing. Is there any ocean front property in the desert I can sell you? I need the money to pay for these free services.
They want the costs to go up and up and up, but then Obama is going to instigate "price controls", so basically the companies will go bankrupt in about a day, and then they will just take over all the healthcare providers et voila, Alinsky cums in his pants six feet under in some shithole cemetary in Chicago
I self insure myself... you know what it has cost me in the last 5 years? $300. The government can't do better than that. Its MY RIGHT TO NOT PAY FOR HEALTH INSURANCE!
Why would Doctors support a Bill that taxes them, > $200,000? They have seen enough abuse by the Insurance Companies against their patients: deny treatments, changing drug formulary, drop coverage, preexisting condition exclusion, & Medicare drug GAP for Senior. Dont ever get sick or in an accident, you will be bankrupted & screwed by Insurance.
@f01863 Most people will pay less out of pocket due to the tax credits (in both the house and senate bills), and get better coverage than they do now.
@dune2 Can I have what you are smoking? The Federal government is going to bring down prices by putting 30 million more people on insurance? There is nothing in the bill to allow free trade or insurance companies to sell across state lines, etc. By government rule only 9 of 1,000 companies are allowed to sell health insurance in Ca. What do you think would happen if all 1,000 were allowed to compete if the government would allow it? Prices down, more options, etc. Government is the problem
@poundsand If the "1000 companies" could compete against state lines (without strict federal standards) we would see a race to the bottom, where insurers relocate to the states with the worst consumer protection. I've got nothing against interstate competition as long as we have a level playing field on the federal level.
You are going to have to stop making sense, it's to much for youboobers. Dune2 is denfending the Post office for cripes sake. Our commander in cheif is a smoker. Obama is a cigarette smoker, and he's trying to pass this bill, and ram it through. Pelosi is saying they have to pass the bill "to find out what's in it". If Obama keeps smoking, will he be covered? This whole thing is taking on a "Big Brother" air about it.
@wsmith1213 The private sector isn't going anywhere. The government isn't taking over health care. The bills regulate the industry to prevent abuse - rescission, refusal to cover for pre-existing conditions, etc.
... and considering that I can send a letter from rural Florida to rural Alaska for $0.44, I don't think the Postal Service (which handled 200 billion items per year) is a very good example of government run amuck.
They lost 5 billion dollars last year. You show how limited your thinking is also by saying that it costs only $.44 cents to mail a letter to AK. $.42 is what the post office charges you, with a 5 BILLION dollar deficit it obviously costs a lot more to send a letter with the taxpayer subsidizing the difference.
Hes just being honest. Premiums went up 10% last year while weve been averaging 6% per year the past decade (while health care expenditures have more than doubled on a per capita basis).
Do you think Senate Major Whip little Dick Durbin knew what he was admitting or do you think little Dick Durbin slipped up?
I think little Dick Durbin better watch himself in the Senate showers when the "creepy little ballerina" deadfish Emanuel shows up to poke little Dick Durbin in the chest and try to strong-arm him into keeping his big mouth shut.
"We're pretty clueless about the whole bill - at least thats what we want you to think, because its not about making corrections to an overall good system; nor is it about the general publics well-being. And its not subject to logical & reasonable reform; its about taking over 1/6th of the economy, applying socialist cost controls, thus collapsing the private industry & ushering in a Medical hell on earth:BarryCare"
Someone tap Obama & Pelosi on the shoulders and say.. "see told ya so!" We already knew this, but it's nice to get a Dumbo Dem to reiterate it. Now if we can only get it stopped before it is too late? :o/
WHEN I SEE PEOPLE BUYING KINDBUD, OR BEER, OR CIGS, INSTEAD OF HEALTH INSURANCE,

The real costs are:
(1) 10 years of taxes for 6 years of benefits.
(2) Cut $460 billion from Medicare.
(3) Rob $52 billion from SS.
(4) Rob $72 billion from long-term disability.
(5) Double count the above as bill cost offsets.
(6) Transfer $371 billion into another bill called Doc Fix.
Thus, the true cost is $2.3 trillion for first 10 years, not the democrats advertised $950 billion. This means ballooning the deficit.

So, you didn't read what Durbin has said, only what the liar president said?
The profit margin of health insurers is ONLY 2 to 5%. What company can stay afloat that cannot make money.
If you add 30 million to the roles without adding doctors, what do you think will happen. It is called 'supply and demand'
Demand goes up and supply down = more cost. Plain and simple,
Then of course there is the fact that taxes are going up to cover all the uninsured.
If it passes, we are screwed.

@poundsand
This whole thing is taking on a "Big Brother" air about it.

these clowns can;t even run the postal system right and you think they're going to do a better job than the private sector?
wsmith1213 2 years ago
@wsmith1213 The private sector isn't going anywhere. The government isn't taking over health care. The bills regulate the industry to prevent abuse - rescission, refusal to cover for pre-existing conditions, etc.
... and considering that I can send a letter from rural Florida to rural Alaska for $0.44, I don't think the Postal Service (which handled 200 billion items per year) is a very good example of government run amuck.
dune2 2 years ago
They lost 5 billion dollars last year. You show how limited your thinking is also by saying that it costs only $.44 cents to mail a letter to AK. $.42 is what the post office charges you, with a 5 BILLION dollar deficit it obviously costs a lot more to send a letter with the taxpayer subsidizing the difference.

Hes just being honest. Premiums went up 10% last year while weve been averaging 6% per year the past decade (while health care expenditures have more than doubled on a per capita basis).
Thats what were trying to fix. Duh!

I think what Dick was saying is:
"We're pretty clueless about the whole bill - at least thats what we want you to think, because its not about making corrections to an overall good system; nor is it about the general publics well-being. And its not subject to logical & reasonable reform; its about taking over 1/6th of the economy, applying socialist cost controls, thus collapsing the private industry & ushering in a Medical hell on earth:BarryCare"
You check in, but you won't check out.

Someone tap Obama & Pelosi on the shoulders and say.. "see told ya so!" We already knew this, but it's nice to get a Dumbo Dem to reiterate it. Now if we can only get it stopped before it is too late? :o/

Seems like a fairly obvious statement. Rahmbo won't be pleased, though.
