  • I'm from Louisiana n almost did 5 years in this prison if u go to jail in Louisiana trust dey r not going to want to let you out

  • i was here on a field trip 1 week ago

  • My brother Preston is there...#321347 I love u big bro..comin to see u soon

  • @TheDiddlysquat WWWWHHHHAAAA? when was the last time you heard of a lifer getting paroled in louisiana? since the time louisiana decided to adopt the old canadian penal system in 1973 only 8 people have been paroled, all except 1 were 2nd degree murderers, another was released due to being an accessory but not actually killing anyone, and none have been paroled since 1995. so they can act saintly but i think louisiana seems to be pretty firm on keeping people in prison regardless.

  • ATHEISTS!! We will carry the future as its becoming obvious more, and more.God is losing his grip.My kids know God is a fraud, and only murder is done in his name for the most part!! My kids are spreading it around that GOD is the main thing holding us back from moving out into the unknown, and curing death. We have sleepovers alot,so I can teach the kids the real truth.Which is we just don't know yet,but We know to look elsewhere now for an answer.Their parents are in for an awakening.Gods dying

  • Its amazing that these men are able to understand what prison system should be like. it doesnt have to be all fighting and killing each other, hell thats what got them there. Thank God for the Warden and his purpose to change the way things work in Angola.

  • @slockett59 you'd be surprised, some people have been in louisiana prisons for decades for crimes as small as pocket theft, smoking marijuana or repeat offences of wreckless driving. ironically the new laws louisiana has are actually based on the old laws canada had up until the early 60's though more mild than canada, because unlike louisiana canada didn't give life sentences to people convicted of murder, murder in canada meant death by hanging until 1961 some being hanged within a week after.

  • Such a beautiful place to be locked up in. I wish all those men the very best. Deep down inside, their is a heart in every criminal. God gave everyone a heart. Some people's circumstances could have destroyed that heart, but by the grace of God, it can be revived.

  • Religion RUINS LIVES! Wake up people!

  • a

i am from Angola real life

  • @ADERRICKHAND: Well I'm very gald you're out ~ There are too many people locked up these days who have no businness in places like these. Unfortunately there are those who deserve no place better. I suppose we can always a beautiful flower in a bed of weeds.

  • Raise your hand with me and praise Jesus ~ Yeah we're goin' to get right with Jesus on this fine day.. I walk the path with Jesus and if you would like to walk that path with me then send me your $100.00 gift .. I accept American Express, Visa, and Matercard and praise be Jesus.. For Fucksake !!

  • @celticlofts that's not orthodox christianity. I hate that too and I'm a believer. The gospel is about God using our sin and hatred toward him to display his love for us on a Roman cross, the most humiliating of deaths, pouring out his own wrath on himself so that we can be with him. Not about money. so i feel you.

  • @mouthbeats11l2l: Religion is only as good as the people who preach it. We've found over these last few years that those who stand on the pulpit are not always the men they claim to be. I have no problem with people finding love in a message and helping each other, but sadly religion has been kidnapped and is now held captive by those who preach bigotry and intolerance and hate.

  • My town'd be peaceful like that too if there were guards at every corner with bugshots.

  • your only fooling yourselves. those how speek the "word". at lest you feel better about yourselves and that is wo

    rth a lie

  • your only fooling yourselves. those how speek the "word"

  • i want to go to prison. somewhere where i can work. without deadlines or worrying about what i will do tomorrow. just focus on the Lord. and have only his work to keep me occupied. what a blessing.

  • 4:13 and other seconds around it. wow, those cells are a pile of fucking shit. no wonder you hear of so much violence in the usa. in most countries they give half decent cells. most murders start off with small arguments or theft but spending long years in that rat infested shit hole they call prison is worse than the death sentence. and we are talking about louisiana, the one state that offers no parole for 1st or 2nd degree murder. so essentially you're fucked. better to do suicide by cop tbh.

  • It's the shame of humanity that to believe that prisons most need Godliness when if fact it is corporate board rooms, Wall Street, and in the halls of government that is in the most need of redemption.

  • THIS DA PRISON C-MURDER IS DOIN LIFE IN

  • @412pistol good foe him

  • I guess you have to have the Wardens permission to Record this?

  • This is pretty amazing... This is how to do prison properly.

  • lol, it's funny how strongly these convicted criminals believe in their imaginary friend in the sky...Louisiana-Highest incarceration rates, super religious, and and down right retarded....I hate this shit hole of a state....

  • Prais be to God, Lord Jesus Christ!! Thank you for saving these men and me!!

  • You know it sad that we still have ignorance in the world...my husband is an inmate in this prison and i pray god has mercy on him. Everyone has a chance to be redeem from their affliction. The only difference from you and them......you just haven't got caught!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @aquafishsoup ur 1 dumb muthafucker i hate saltin crackers>>

  • @MoneyyRedd good nigger i like getting you people mad. keep it coming.

  • @aquafishsoup you can go to prison and make us madd, lets see how quick a nigger would be on your ass.

  • @rockman9mm im not going to prison because i ain't black, you're mad because you had it in your ass.

  • @aquafishsoup i could put in your momma or your sister, you pick one,i rather make you my bitch..

  • @rockman9mm bring it on chimp. and pay that child support.

  • It's so beautiful how strong and certain their faith is. I'm a non-religious person, but I can really admire how much these people believe and how they center their life around their faith. What a beautiful culture the South has, faith-wise.

  • wtf....it seems like he's a warden AND a missionary....

  • Quite frankly: I would rather be dead, than a punk in one of these institutions!

  • Eventually, however, the cruel reality sets in that you're NEVER going to get out, NO MATTER WHAT. But you can still greatly further your education, and/or learn a skill; thus being of service to the rest of Creation. Hence, you can make a tremendous difference for the sake of your next life, whenever and wherever that might be -- thus "changing your karma", or "changing poison into medicine". Note: education is valued just as highly in the Eternity Domain as it is here on Earth.

  • My uncle died here, he was in for murder. His body wasn't taking any food in. He lost at least 20 lbs when he was in there. He didn't even need to lose weight while in prison.

  • Which is worse? Imprisonment in medieval times, or imprisonment nowadays? Actually, both are equally horrible! -- though perhaps in different ways.

  • jamaica

  • Fuck you.

  • Also notable, is the inmates in this production. They use the same inmates every time a documentary is created. They're the publicity inmates. The bishop, the one guy sitting behind a radio station audio mixer, these are inmates with the highest privelage on the grounds. What about the other 4900 inmates that live in the dormitories or the cellblocks that have had their skulls bashed for the last 30 years. Think they'd have the same thing to say about Burl Cain?

  • @JurisArcane Got it right there mate, you always see the same old faces talking about the same stuff

  • That's what you see in the video, with a handful of inmates. If you wanna find out the truth of what goes on when the rodeo production isn't taking place, or the camera isn't fixed on Burl Cain, go to work there for a couple years. You'll find out the truth, and in a hurry. Burl Cain wasn't "chosen" lol. He's been able to dodge numerous judicial actions at the State and Federal level because of his brother James Cain, being a Louisiana Legislator. Get real people. Angola is a living hell.

  • So the warden has 1. substantially reduced murders and violent crime on site, 2. given prisoners back their quality of life 3. provided post-secondary education 4. given them something to believe and hope in for the future 5. shown the men respect 6. created at atmosphere promoting community and safety. Incredible. I am not sure how anyone can possibly think that is bad! He didn't sentence them, he just creates a quality of life many have probably never seen before.

  • @tblackaby You just watched a documentary, with interviewees pre-approved by the warden. If you think anything they've said is something he didn't allow them to say then you're probably being slightly naive. Whilst Warden Cain may be better than those that have come before him, I am doubtful that he is anything as fair and just as the people in this video are leading you to believe.

  • @jason3074 wow

  • ....get over it...

  • free c-murder

  • Hello

I'm in Mexico, where I can buy this DVD?? Or can somebody sendme the file?.. We want to translate it to spanish..

    Regards

  • hi,

I was looking that 2 hour video today in school (ethics lesson). Its very touching. Was close to tears, because there are people who live for more than 20 years in this hell without commiting any crime! lets hope n pray for those people.

  • get saved by seeking God, and you will know, why everyone are talking about him, GOD BLESS ;)

  • Why does everyone mention God in every sentence?

  • is that a problem

  • i went there yesterday and i met shaq....the man on the radio

  • Rev you probly don't remeber me,,,we washed those pots and pans at rc,,,july was the,,,big lou,,,,every day i wake up i remember those 18 years i was there. for all people posting comments,,,,,yes there are people there who are serious, changed thier lives,,they get no breaks,,,,,,,most the gaurds are corrupt,,still are. hey you can get a job in angola and they will let you work 6 months before you take a drug urine test! BURL THE WARDEN IS A CROOK,,,GET REAL.

  • All that stuff you guys and girls are saying about getting killed and rapped in Angola, isn't true, i just took a tour of angola, while i was in bootcamp... Angola used to be on of the bloodiest prisons... a lot of things have changed there.

  • I wouldn't wanna go there. All that God shit would drive me crazy, hell they drove me crazy while I was just in K.C.C.C. in TN. I somehow got put in the GOD POD! As an agnostic/Atheist I don't wanna hear that shit.

  • I know a dude who had to do 7 years in Angola for armed robbery...the fucked up part was he was light skinned with really curly hair...I wonder what happened to him...lol

  • @tswagg504 you laugh but I see nothing funny, you must have thought that comment was cute or something but it really made you look like an ass

  • Yeah actually I think it was hilarious. I'm glad it happened to him. Its his fault my best friend had to do a 2 years in jail. He used to get us to be his get away drivers by lying to us about his plans and whereabouts. I could have easily gotten locked up to..He was a snake and its hilarious that he got 7 years.

  • @tswagg504 still that's fucked, and if you went to jail it would be your fault because the company YOU chose to keep around, and it is your friends fault for getting 2 years because the comapny he was around, so yeah i still stand by my comment made before,

  • I know several of the guys there serving time that have been there 20+ years for something another state would let them out in 7 or less for. little too strict, possibly update the review system, yea that would be nice.

  • I visited this prison yesterday as a Confirmation retreat. I can tell you that this is not modern day slavery.

We visited and got to talk to the trustees who have found God. There was one man in particular. He made one mistake while both drunk and on drugs, 16 years ago. He passed around a picture of him and his daughter, who was about 4 at the time, walking on a beach. Another one was of his daughter for her graduation of high-school. He is truly a changed man. Why can't he...

  • Religion is a SUBJECTIVE thing, many would argue it to be even delusional. That does not affect the objective truth that in all reality, this is modern day slavery. I believe a more truthful term would be 'Indentured Servant.'

  • see his daughter grow up? I truly feel in my heart that God has forgiven him. Why can't society?

  • unemployment rate is 0% in that place but they get paid $0.20 per hr. He called it ideal.

  • @KentuckyCalifornia They get paid .20/hr but society pays who knows how much per hr. to take care of these inmates. I think they should feel grateful to be paid at all.

  • 40000 is the average cost per inmate per year

  • modern day slavery

  • nope, im not payin' 40000 a year for them to sit around and do nothing. better to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, maybe u should get a job hippie

  • How bout you let them go and free them you dumb fck

  • im a dumb fck? wow you dont even know me.

    typical youtube expert!!!!!

  • I know enough about you from your comment.

  • i didnt think of it did u watch the video?

    its their fucking program

  • Your words were: im not payin 400000 someshit like that.

  • @moeorleanz Arguing on the Internet is like racing in the Special Olympics, even if you win you're still retarded.

  • it was 40,000 and that is how much it costs!!!

  • This is not modern day slavery. These people recieved SALVATION in this "modern day slavery". Jesus speaks! Its obvious that He loves them too. Even prisoners can go to Heaven!!

  • @TRUDOWNSOUTH Theres no heaven or Hell, How dare they push their Archaic Religious views upon prisoners. The only reason they dont realize this is legal slavery is because hes Brain washed to believe the God shit. I got stuck in a God Pod once when I was doing some time over here at the Corrections Complex.Every night someone came to my bunk askin me to pray in their circle. After sayin no enough times I realized they were harassing me and got into it.15 day hole but it got me out that POD!

  • @scumgod13

Your statemant to me came from the pit of hell no doubt about that.

  • @TRUDOWNSOUTH No it came from an experience I had while incarcerated. After the same person came to my bunk 3 times in one week and he had a smirk on his face I realized they thought it was funny to harass me about God, I took offence and was forced to get violent.O.K. who got in trouble.I did 15 days in ADSEG he said I was only trying to help him, he probably got a pat on the back. Why does that come straight from hell.I dont believe in a Devil.

  • @scumgod13

And that why people do wrong and think nothing about it. You think you can live and do the evil dees on this Earth and dont repent, and think you reap the reward of eternal life from Christ? The enemy, satan, wants you to think this. The strategy of your ememy is no awareness, or to say in your behalf, ignorance. Yes satan is real, but Christ is ETERNAL! You dont have to believe in neither, but hell is hot, eternity is long, time is short, and judgement is sure.

  • @scumgod13 So you don't believe in God and then when you die, you find out that their is no God then you've lost nothing. But if you don't believe in God, and then when you die, you find out that there is a God, Then you've lost EVERYTHING.

  • @scumgod13

By the way, I dont see the warden pushing anything on them. These guy chose the right path. You have no idea when you are put in that position where its just you and God himself. Hold up, you were incarcerated, but didnt accept it. These prisoners had the same choice you did, you just didnt accept it, but does that mean that there is no christ, no God? Of course not. The word of God even speak about your "opinions" here. The only way you will know is to know Christ for yourself.

  • @TRUDOWNSOUTH I thought God had already defeated Satan. That's what its says in the Bible, right? How is there an all powerful entity who has an advesary he cannot defeat? You talk about salvation, why would a loving God even allow the torture of arriving at such a jucture in one's life? I mean if God is so omnipresent, why does Satan effectively rule our world? Nevermind I know why. Man needed an antagonist for his story.

  • yall know nothinget if you think its a slave prison its the safest prison on earth because of warden cain my dad was in angola for years on drug charges and it changed his life along

  • i had to watch this documentary for my masters class, and upon watching the firstthing that came to me is how they were shackled as there foreparents. It reiterated to me that the more things changed the more they remain the same. Some of the sentence given for the crimes committed was ludicrous to me. I strongly believe in criminals being punished, but its obvious from this doc. that times weren't necessarily fitting crimes. Not to mention the disparity bet blacks in angola and the lgr populat.

  • these men . became slaved to the bone. this is a slave plantation!! hello!! wake -up !! hello!! u are slaves!! hello!! what is good about being a slave to the devil!!

  • I worked there 5 and 1 half years of my life... I know many of these men from the east yard at main prison... they are genuinely good men.... I would have no problems with them being in society or living in my nieghborhood today as they are.

ive met some of the worst people Ive ever met there and not all were inmates... some of the best werent all free either.

  • THANK YOU...I just learned of Angola and Burl Cain. Enough cannot be said about this man and his hand in turning the lives of these men.

  • Great story, praise God that he gives men the opportunity and the ability to be such a wonderful witness into the lives of those who are suffering, who are lost and for those who are eager to change their lives and to know that God is able to makes those things which seem impossible, possible.

Luk 18:27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

    Amen, God bless you

  • why isnt all prison like angola? they are actually rehabillitating people. They are being punished but at the same time they are not honing criminal skills like in all other prisons, they are doing consturctive things and will be able to contribute to society once they are out.

  • Rehabilitating? 90% of the men that enter Angola die there. How is that rehabilitating?

  • no in angloa a person eithers goes there for life ot 25 or more years

  • O stop kissing the white warden's ass! All of you are brain washed! YEAH OBAMA!

  • Actually I visited the Angola Rodeo as they call it recently and the prisoners were having fun. The way you discribe the warden is funny since they were way too nice in real life than they are suppose to be. Maybe you are brainwashed to think wardens are evil but they are just regular people except they have to deal with murders all day.

  • In America why do they sentence people with an indeterminate sentence. E.g. 15 years to 20

years? Here (UK) offenders are given a sentence and if its less than 4 years they are released at the half-way point automatically and if its longer than 4 years they have to appear before a parole board at the half-way point.

  • do the crime,do the time

  • I couldn't agree more. I find it hard to sympathize with criminals like a lot of people do and for that I'm a "bad person."

  • no you just have morals

  • I heard somewhere that the average sentence at this place is about 90 years.

  • I wonder if the Warden still has his Armored Personel Carrier Vehicle from the Army.He used to drive around the fence line in it. He could go anywhere in that thing! Its inspiring to see what has happened there! Phil. 4:13

  • 99 years for armed robbery? First offence? Whoa.

Who the fuck would dare to commit an armed robbery in Louisiana with what is basically a life sentence (no-one will live another 99 years from the date of sentence).

  • Louisiana is one of the few states that is considered to have "two life sentences". There is no parole for Lifers, and many do get 99 years for non-murder crimes.

  • How so? Louisiana's penal code is anomalous. You can get 10 to 50 years for attempted murder and 10 to 99 years for armed robbery.

That implies that stealing is somehow worse than trying to kill someone.

  • How so what? I think I was pretty clear. I didn't disagree with anything you were saying. I know quite a lot about the LA Penal System and Angola Penitentiary, especially. I wouldn't say I'm a great fan of either.

  • No, I meant what is the point in having a sentence more severe for armed robbery than the sentence for attempted murder? Surely a life is valued above property and this should be reflected in the law?

Also, could you tell me where to find more information on Louisiana's legal system?

  • THANK YOU. When Angola was first aired, one of the inmates was trying to get released and his story was terrible! The white lady that accussed him of rape couldn't identify him, she said that all niggers look alike. During the line up, he was the only one that was hand cuffed which is why she picked him out. That is not Justice to me. I beleive the state of Louisiana is giving them time like this to maintain free labor. Some of the time doens't fit the crime!

  • Take black back!

Ignore white people for 09', Spread the word.

  • spread the word, right. what would happen if white people ignored you. youd be bitchin about that too. shut up with dumb shit, boy. three words divided we fall. get on board or get the fuck out if you dont like it here. you know you could go back to africa cause they have it so together over there. pirates and shit. no roads no phones no freedom fuck you and your closed minded stupidity. what have white people done to you. last where did black go. last time i checked you guys were on a roll.

  • @whiteworldreturns2 Armed robbery is serious. Anyone that does this is extremely dangerous to society b/c they enter a home or establishment with the intent to kill if someone gets in their way of stealing. I don`t want any armed robbers running around in my community. They need to be locked away unfortunately.

  • Terrific Video. All things need forgiven- in time - and to an extent. This Warden in very pro-active. That hat situation - wonderful.

  • I beg to differ. I find that most people who say that all things need to be forgiven have never had a family member murdered.

  • Very interesting film thanks
