Cannabis does not, in fact kill brain cells. That theory was actually disproved in a laboratory study. As far as cancer goes, you're right, marijuana doesn't cure cancer. However, it has been shown to prevent cancer, as it kills old cells that are more likely to become cancerous.
@Cypriis (sorry about commenting again) In your comment about stealing to feed the habit, are you suggesting addiction? If so, studies have shown that cannabis is not physiologically addictive, only psychologically, the way facebook or chocolate is addicting. So, in a sense, the Internet being legal lends the same amount of danger of people stealing in order to feed their habit. Now, that's not to say the other side is completely right.
@Cypriis Cannabis doesn't make you more creative, it just has a slight hallucinogenic effect that affects all of your senses. If that's feeding your creativity, that's like saying that watching a movie makes you creative. Also, heavy use over time has shown to decrease logical functions in the brain, such as math and science. However, moderate use has shown to increase memory (although not from stuff you learn when high). The fact is, pot isn't as dangerous as it's made out to be by the media.

In the same way people with heart conditions should do things that increase their heart rate (such as jogging, or marijuana), people with schizophrenia shouldn't do things that aggrevate their symptoms (like marijuana).

Cannabis does not, in fact kill brain cells. That theory was actually disproved in a laboratory study. As far as cancer goes, you're right, marijuana doesn't cure cancer. However, it has been shown to prevent cancer, as it kills old cells that are more likely to become cancerous.

If so, studies have shown that cannabis is not physiologically addictive, only psychologically, the way facebook or chocolate is addicting. If that's feeding your creativity, that's like saying that watching a movie makes you creative. Also, heavy use over time has shown to decrease logical functions in the brain, such as math and science. However, moderate use has shown to increase memory (although not from stuff you learn when high). The fact is, pot isn't as dangerous as it's made out to be by the media.

Marijuana doesn't cause schizophrenia, it aggrevates the symptoms of someone who already has it. In the same way people with heart conditions should do things that increase their heart rate (such as jogging, or marijuana), people with schizophrenia shouldn't do things that aggrevate their symptoms (like marijuana).

@TheSh4adow Sure, that same study you're referring to used a synthetic cannabinoid agonist, called HU-210, in mice, not humans. Now, HU-210 is significantly more potent than plant-derived THC, and it inhibits GABA neurotransmission in humans to a severe extent. Not to mention, inhibition of GABA neurotransmission raises the possibility of causing a seizure. According to the Cell Communication & Signalling Journal 2010, plant-derived THC did not stimulate the growth of new brain cells

@TheSh4adow Not a story, that's science. Smoking something that causes memory impairment does not stimulate brain cell growth. How about you read the background of the study before overblowing its results?
