do you know of a simple app then? ON windows I used Sony Vegas for complicated stuff but for simple cutting and editing I used VirtualDub -what's a simple one for linux?

It seems to be meant for people who like to mess about with computers as opposed to people who USE computers - not spend all their time fixing them! You might like this video I made about Cinelerra (I made it on Windows Moviemaker). These days I've got started on Kdenlive & I love it!
Ppl suggesting kdenlive are not doing serious editing. for those ppl, openshot kino or just about any other will do. Myself, I need compositing. there are great compositors for linux. At least not open source. But Cinelerra is the closest thing we have so far. I know kdenlive has a keying feature but it is very bad.
up to 16 channel audio, up to 1088 video, motion tracking, and tons of other features, what did you expect it to be? Sorry it couldn't be as simple as windows movie maker :p
@gotbletu It was meant to be used by professionals, who need a lot of info displayed at once, and in a way that they can understand, really it's not that confusing, it's only confusing if you're looking at it all at once, but if you look at one particular thing, then it's pretty simple

If it were the only editing program on linux, we'd all be crying, but it's not... so it's actually OUR job to make it better if it's not good enough.. It looks like something I found once, mainly the crappy organization and window management. Webcamstudio for GNU / Linux check it out, it's not bad, min. req. 2gb ram
I like it better than Kdenlive, but my computer is too old to edit HD video, so I don't use any video editor.
It doesn't suck, he just doesn't like it. I don't like halo, that doesn't make it a bad game. My friend hates Half-Life, that doesn't make it a bad game either.
There are bad movies that my brother likes. (He liked Pluto Nash and that movie bombed)
I've never really liked Cinelerra either tbh. Have you heard of OpenShot? I'm guessing that you have but I don't recall you having made a video about it.
