  • I grew up listining to this band :)

  • This wah me ma sister and me dad's fav song !!

Not heard it since I was 7 !

    Love it..

  • I'm from the Isle of lewis in Scotland.. It's a great place to live in!!

  • Psst. 1:54 is Bramall Hall in Cheshire. Most definitely not Scotland, but thanks for the shout out. ;)

  • Probably my favourite Runrig song. It's chock full of joy in life! Thanks for the pictures too - pity scotland is so far from Cornwall.......

  • I visited Scotland, it was so beautiful and I will go there again.

  • Been around some of these places but seen like up from Fort William (very commercialised place really, didnt like that much) due to it being the main town from Ben Nevis the highest moutain in Scotland, but went all over skye in a kinda circular route around like Kyle of Lochalch (excuse spelling) up to Portree and down into Dunvegan and across back to Kyle of Lochalch, great place is skye!!

  • The best place in Skye, in my opinion, is te bar at the pier in Uig. Great food and beer! Start point to the isles.

  • I love this video! The song is definitely one of Runrig's greater ones. :-) May I ask how a young american girl like you became a Scotland fan? :-) I mean it is so far away. Best wishes!

  • Yes, this song is one of my all time favourites. I've always had a love for Scotland. Robert the Bruce and William Wallace have been my heroes for years. I'm not sure exactly when I became such an avid fan, but I wouldn't stop loving Scotland for anything. The more I hear about Scotland, the more I fall in love with it. :-) I have an almost fullsized Scottish flag in my room, all of Runrig's music, several books on Scotland and I've even written my own historical fiction novella about Scotland.

  • I suppose the main reason behind why I love Scotland and her people so much is because they never give up. I mean, when you read about the Bruce and Wallace.... There's something to say for courage like that, to face such huge armies and WIN half the time! I just love it. I wish more people could be like the Scots, and the awesome accents are a plus, too. :-)

  • Ah nice one thats really cool to see, i mean ive gone back in my families history, im a Smith, in Gaelic that means Gow, part of the MacGowan clan, finding out where they would have been based like, although all clans had their smiths by trade of them being Blacksmiths, reason for their name, but they also had their own clan around the Loch Lomond area, its really cool that, but Williams every scots hero end of!!

  • yeah, on my dad's side we're from the Galloway clan, which we found out was too small to be it's own real clan so it was part of the MacFarlane clan and there's a chance that our family could have been related to the royals. Slight chance, but hey I'll take it! :)

  • @XenaWoman12 My Grandmother was a Bruce.

It was Andrew Moray that started the Scottish rebellion against the English, when John Balliol (omitted from that film) was exiled in France, came back a broken man, after Alexander was found dead going up North (the previous king before Balliol), that Robert de Bruce took over.

That's the main jist of the true story behind Braveheart, it was just Andrew Moray saw a promise in Wallace (unlike it shows in the movie), he actually supported Wallace.

  • like the romans, never conquered her.

  • @XenaWoman12 I have been to a wedding in portree, where abouts runrig are from.

A few weeks ago, my step mothers nephew and his mum and dad live in perth, robert the guy that got married, is now married to anne, whos from skye.

One of the guests was a McDonald, but since his wife is a McFarlane means he can wear that tartan kilt aswell when its not to do with his family.

The McFarlane tartans very yellow looking, like black with a yellow background basically.

  • @XenaWoman12 Back then though they tended to stick together, so the McDonalds I think came from around that area, I even saw Donnie Munro's house its right at the bottom of Portree Bay, below this like over the biggest hotel they have in Portree, where the wedding reception was.

  • @XenaWoman12

Thats why they prefer weddings to be on a friday rather than any other time.

  • @XenaWoman12 The thing about true Ceilidh dancing though in Scotland though especially at weddings is they dont ever have a caller.

Someone that tells you what to do, allot of the kids in school on Skye the high school there get taught it, its in their education to learn it from school.

So allot of annes bridesmaids new how to do that.

Also of course Gaelic is taught in their schools aswell, its a must in their educational system up there.

  • @XenaWoman12 I mean the population of skye is about 2,000 people in total, no more than 200 of them live in Portree

  • I would be very happy if somebody could put Wall of China to youtube!!

Its my favourite song of Runrig...

  • I'll be putting that one up next for you. I should have it up today.

  • I just put Wall of China up here.

  • yes i found it;-)
