Oh, a BBC documentary about the dead, great! I've watched the BBC documentaries about Hawkwind and about Krautrock and they were great! See you at the last part and thanks for uploading :)
This documentry is as bad as the battle it portrays. Jerry just would have said...Fuck man! Grave robbers all and everyone involved in this cash grabbing goatfuck.
some of us still have "IT" coming from the man watching this and although many yrs. of sober living have taught me a different view on life "in the moment" My daughter is humming Sugar Magnolia lol. What has become my Intergity ME, was taught by many of these folks who would literally give you everything they had ,if you needed it worse. I am still a part of this just by being ME! Love to you all Rick Wichita Kansas
This is just an amazing documentary, featuring the real principles involved in the aftermath of his death, and a host of cartoon characters from the age of the "social-terrorism" of the 60's, ...and also including the fbi types and the new wife, who always has one hand on the cash register (I could be wrong about this, although more sympathetic with mg and guitar-maker).
I have grown to appreciate the full extent to which Jerry epitomized the "edge" of society. If you have read Jerry's description of the KeseyAcid Test/Cassady days, you remember him saying how he saw Cassady and the Pranksters as people who lived totally in the moment, and felt the Dead were destined to carry that spirit forward. He never adjusted that thinking, and living too close to the edge killed him early. But he's dancing (and downloading) to FURTHUR as we speak.
Can anyone please tell me the names of the songs playing at the very start of the video. and the name of the song playin at 2:40 id be forever grateful
1:12.......wow! that ugly square bitch has goofey hair! i bet she still does! when ya see a "non-chick" like that ya cross the street real fast and dont look back! when will those backwoods puritans go away?? they been messin folks up since 1620!! they started on the natives. then in the 1960's they went for everyone!!
I was channeling Jerry and he's pissed at ms koontz for not wearing the bozo masks at his ash spreading. He has instructed all deadheads to boycott all products that say "estate of Jerry Garcia". Including ice cream.
I agree what happened after his demise was "So not Jerry"...I disagree with the comment he spent his life against the establishment. I think Jerry and the Dead spent the majority of their time, when Jerry was alive...just avoiding the establishment. They did what what they did, rarely engaged in dirt of politics. A sense of, well this is America, we are free to define our scene. If the public / politicians denounce it that's fine and American. But will have no bearing on the next show.
the thing about Jerry was- he never wanted to be anyones idol. He was not comfortable with that. But the hippies all made him their guru of some kind. He didnt want that. Its the truth. Read people.
@NoRosesForMe the real SF people didn't treat him like a Idol. He was good old Garcia to us & people would smile wave & say Hi but no JERRRY!!!! stuff that came way later. It was the nuvo-parking lot Deadheads who did the hero worship that he wanted nothing to do with.
I am 25 yrs old and have proudly been a through and through "Head" since birth. I was born into the scene as my parents "toured" in the latter 60's&70's and are still huge fans. They showed me the importance of the music once I was old enough to understand. Jerry is such an underated guitar player and my biggest influence as I play. He is such a pure note and pickin' player. Its horrible as I grew up in PA but now live in Baltimore and there are noooo true Jam fans. Great vid, thanks for posting!
Jerry Garcia was so much more than a musician. It can be argued that no one single person in the musical world was as loved as much as him. Not Elvis, not Lennon or McCartney, not Jagger or Richards, Beethoven, Mozart.....no one.
if i was young back then. haight asbury is where I would want to be

I just don't understand why did they use here that horrid Kuhla Shaker song "Grateful When You're Dead". Unrespectful, to say the least.
