  • You need to sit back more between fences! That way she'll be less likely to take long spots. Also, check the striding.

  • i think she jumping early due to you giving her jumping cues...

  • Its because of the striding and probably because your in the sam position throughout the lie therefore you cant keep control of the take of, proving this is when your horse takes off of her own accord. she's seeing her own stride.

  • well done.that throws alot of riders.u did very wel and just went with her

  • i could see her in a cross country coarse!

  • yeaa your strides are nit right but she is a very good girl because some horses can not do the same

  • she's only doing it because the jumps arent strided correctly..

  • SUPERMAN!

  • and i wasn't bragging about my pony doing that i hate it when he does it, he only does it when he is fresh though which isnt very much :)

  • Also, i agree with alot of the other people, it is the riders fault!

  • That wasn't really that long because the jump is so small and the horse is big enough to jump that distance easily. i have a small pony that can jump bigger than that and go like 3 feet over the jump. But cute pony! and good riding :)

  • Aha aw, there's a horse at my local stables who's an ex-showjumper, but she's only 13hh, so whenever your jumping her big, not only does it seem bigger as she's small, but she jumps it from way off! She's so sweet though. :)

  • She's not jumping THAT early, it's better to get an earlier spot than to get a half-stride before the jump...

  • super pony!!! lol :)

  • Its totally the riders fault. If she had held him back he wouldn't have taken off early. Shorten your reins and lean back.

  • YEA SAME I DONT LIKE WHEN HORSES DO THAT BECAUSE ITS SO UNCOMFTORABLE AND BOUNCY MY HORSE DID THAT AND I FLEW OVER HER NECK AND ENDED UP NOT SITTING FOR 2 WEEKS VERY PAINFUL

  • you needed to shorten her stride if you didn't want to go long.....

you need to sit up inside the grids...that's what they're for; they help you improve your position for your equitation divisions!

  • hold her back sit back and half halt

  • Sorry but i can beat that!

  • She is doing that cos the stridings wrong on the jump, also you shouldnt lean forward going through all the jumps cos that just puts the horses balance off and is also a reason why she is taking off quite ahead.

  • That's not something to brag about, and she is doing that, because she has to... you needed to fix your striding earlier by speeding up or slowing down.

  • If the rider sits up and collects the stride, the horse won't feel the need to jump so long ;)

  • Yeah... its definitely the riders job to set the pace and then stick to it, which in turn will fix that little striding problem ;)

  • 0:07 ahh stretch for it!!!

  • being flat isn't a good thing, maybe for small jumps..but this will get you in trouble.

  • Make her add a stride. but make sure to release :]

  • she must have been feeling good that day lol

  • You both have improved over all of the vids. :) Where is that? Looks like some place in Europe, Tuscany?

  • i like how you improved in you´r other videos! :)

was that an exercise for you to ride in 2-point position? If not I´d advise you to sit back before the jump so you can ride her to the jump...

and I´d take loads of dressage lessons so you learn how to ride her on the bit (because you´ll have better control of your horse then) and so lucy can build up muscles in her back and learns how to use her back!

and I´d use placing poles so both of you learn how to see a stride!

    thats what I´d do ;)

  • how the heck does she make it over the second jump? hhahaah i love the vid she looks like she is taken a pee! hahaha LOL

  • YOU NEED TO SIT BACK!!!

  • i tot lucy waz de rider!!!!!!lol :P

  • umm, thats not long at all, and if you prefer horses taking shorter strides then put the grid closed together. an your horse does look lame it has to be said.

  • I think your horse is lame. Her movement is very choppy and short, looks pained.

  • Good riding but shes doing that because they striding wasnt even so she has to choice but to jump early,

  • GOOD POSITIONING IN THE SADDLE BEUTIFUL HORSE WHAT BREED????

  • That's good that she takes off there, it means her striding is good! :)

  • not the horse, it;s your striding, get her in a little deeper. x

  • sorry to bust ur bubble but the reason why shes jumping like that is shes is not comfy jumping

  • @MegaJankowski - I was gonna say the same thing, shes takeing the wrong amount of strides between those jumps, they take off points in the real show ring for not takeing the proper amount of strides for your horses size between jumps. it could even be harmfull to here spine, horses spines donot fully fuze untell there 9yo.

  • @XArabHunterX Yeah.. its not real good for the horse at all!! add me as friend plz!!

  • its not the horse its your bad striding

  • haha she was having fun!

  • i know a lot of people have been commenting telling u what ur doing wrong, but some of them are wrong. it's not the only reason why, but it'll help if you sit between jumps instead of 2-point the whole line. just sayin (:

  • shes jumping long cause the jump strides are off. and jumping hollow isnt something to brag about. its bad.

  • she jumps long coz ur putting ur hands too front of the horses neck and the speed is too fast

  • take away those annoying pauses pleaseeee!

  • Well, that wasn't a very long jump.. And I guess the reason for always pausing the clip, is because you want to hide that she actually is jumping normal..

  • haha she's having fun!

  • i really didnt see it just jump that last jump cause you kept pausing it

  • she's just jumping from where the side poles are she must be thinking she's supposed to take off from there

  • da kann jemand wohl seine abstände nonet regulieren

  • my horse tends to skip a few strides bfore the jumoe 2! lol :)

  • That's amazing! Lol, big jump. I find them fun though to jump:)

  • its not really that long at all..... and its a small jump so thats no big deal.

  • i hate when horses do that lol good job :)

  • @emochick56651 Thanks, yes can give u a surprise

  • write ok then :/ this isnt that long tbh, my pony takes off way b4 the jump sometimes

  • @xxhorsesrockxx ok but this was long from what i wanted it be be

  • i supose lol, great horse btw didnt want to sound all showie offie :P ermm i subbed, sub back ? x

  • @xxhorsesrockxx ok will do , subbin gnow

  • unless your talking about her form on how long she is then ok i can believe that but long as in long jump then no cant believe that

  • no shes talking about how her horse took off to early and streched... umm duh??

  • @animerockgurl87 horses can indeed jump that long.

  • your just pausing the video when your horse does the jump to make it seem long, these comments im seeing that people actually believe this, these people are stupid, your pausing each time, not sure how people believe this....

  • i´m pausing video to show lucy took off too early so had to reach to make jump ..

  • its actually a bad habit your teaching your horse. it is not for there health or anything. just their training. it is much better to chip in rather than leave long

  • I know im not teaching it it just happened

  • Please come watch and comment on my videos?

    Please?

My horse and I have impoved so much and I would like some input.

  • ok will do

  • i think its because she's going to fast. when my boy charges for the jumps we usually end up taking off to soon which makes the jump bigger and longer

  • yes, cant make then extra stride, just had to jump

  • OMG!!!

  • thats leaving long! not supposed to do that! u especially because u lean up the horses neck and ur gonna fall off.

  • yep, we re not good .. but this is what is went like

  • that means you are jumping her to soon. try to collects before you jump

  • yes ture, but this shows what can happen

  • well, you still had good position :) you could jump oxers very easily on that horse.

  • Thanks .. i just went with what she did ,,

  • my horsee jumpss likee that sometimes, i prefer it but, i dont know why :-P x

  • I prefer a normal distance but lucy had other ideas

  • my horse is the same way, but think of it as "at least she doesnt chip in!" i mean, at a show, i would rather have my horse jump long than chip in. just sayin. good ride!

  • Yes wither way can be unsettling

  • Wow !!! Nice to see that it's not just trotters there's doing that ! xD lol Kasian Waltz also jumps weird !

  • Thanks, yes its so hard when u think ur horse is the only 1 who cant jump!!

  • Lol yehh he makes cookie jumps!!! xD aka jumping way to high and long + that he makes a buck in the middle of the jump !

  • that is amazing ive never seen that wide sept in oxars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nicee form u have

  • Thanks, yes she jumped it early & wide

  • just thought the jump felt long & when i watched video could see why

  • haha whoa you could try to collect her more at the canter

  • yes , that would help

  • Thanks

  • hehe, brave lil' girl :D

  • Thanks , she does try

  • Thats normal!!

  • yes but it was early take off for this jump

  • its because shes taking off to early

  • yes i know

  • yes ... that wouls make 4 a long jump

  • there is a mare at my barn who has a huge jump. this lil mare could do 6 foot. and its because she loves to jump. she almost never refuses. the only times she has, is when she is being rushed to the jump, she wants to get to it fast, and needs a rider to sit, and hold her so that her strides remain steady. even strides and good jumps come from a good pace. not a gallop!

  • yes, i did this unintentionally .. just a bad stride

  • my horses jump WAY friken bigger and longer

  • lucy missed strided so was not trying 4 long ... just happened

  • I've seen many of horse take off long at a meatier jump with multiple poles and boxes, land in the fence, and snap bore forelegs, just for going gung-ho and taking off such as that.

  • well this was just an early take-off .. stride was not quite right

  • you really need to sit back and slow that mare down. you're leaning way forward on her neck, which is just asking for that huge distance. sit down on your butt and take a good feel on the reins, if you need to squeeze your hand one at a time to kind of move the bit back and forth in her mouth, while at the same time adding leg to keep her moving. this will collect her, and a nicer distance will come up. keep riding hunched on her neck and both of you are going to get seriously hurt some day.

  • yes i know still trying to do that .. some improvements if u check out later videos ..

  • okay honestly yes maybe that mare might need some work but you don't know her you've never ridden her i think it's wrong of you to give critique my horse does a dead gallop up to jumps and i can sit back and hold the whole time over the jump if i wanted to it wouldn't slow him down. Some horses love to jump and no matter what you do you can't slow them down. I would love to see you ride my horse you'd fall flat on your face

  • wow!! tht horse has talent lol but why were you like galloping towards the jump?

  • Lucy just got too keen with me

  • lol

  • yes

  • slow her down till she is almost cantering on the spot and make her do it with lots of energy. get her bouncing on the back end and she will spring up over it, not string out and leap over it.

  • yes i know i need more speed control .. she takes takes charge

  • It wasn't all that long of a jump.......and by the looks of it she was going too fast. If she hadn't you could have fit two strides in.

  • yes too fast to fit another in

  • i wouldn't be proud of that. your horse is taking off too early and when she screws up, and trust me, SHE WILL, you're gonna be eating dirt.

  • Ha ha! She's still awesome, though. hehe

  • thxs

  • Lucy must be a wonderful horse! Good jumper. Looked like she took off early, though. You guys did really well.

  • Thanks lucy is a grat horse but not a great jumper!!

  • she just took off early, thats all.

    you sat it well (:

  • Thanks, yes got to be ready with lucy , we dont stride too well

  • cuz you let the horse, you need to learn to give him confidence to take off wen you want !!!!!!!!!!

  • yes well i i couldnt do it

  • God that was a bit early =L patch does that all the time or else he'll take off very late =S

    Silly boy.

Well done for goin with him =)

  • thanks yes she likes an early jump

  • thats not long?

  • she just took an early stride :S not that big a deal no offence :S

  • yes, it was not a wide jump, just an early takeoff

  • my horsey does dat too =P

    nice riding

  • Thanks, yes sometimes the strides dont work out!!

  • ya, or sometimes my horse adds in an extra stride

    :)

  • Wel done for goin with him/Her.....My Horse Dus Thatt Alll The Timee..But From Wayyyyyy Further Back:L

    Xxx

  • thanks, yes at least i did keep with her, riding could be much worse ... yes some horse do this much worse

  • aww well done!! your horse is gorgeous and you look a good rider!!!! bet these people dunt even know how to ride or get on a horse..

  • Thanks, yes sometimes they dont have any videos of them riding ... i wonder if they live in a virtual horse world

  • Maybe the rider should ride better and that wouldnt happen maybe like picking up her hands a lil bit she was terrible

  • maybe you should not bother making bad comments on my riding .... i am trying to improve it & you comments dont help at all ... (update lucy good jumping day 3jul09)

  • woo hoo

  • yes it was

  • You stayed with her really nicely... you felt when she was going to take the long spot and didn't get left behind at all! My mare tends to do that sometimes, too. :)

  • Thanks, you need to be ready with these horses who will jump long!

  • Yep, thats for sure!

  • I had a horse that did that with me. Nearly threw me out of the saddle.

Have you tried lengthening the distance between the jumps or asking her to shorten her stride so she can get two strides in between the jumps?

    You both look so great!

  • Thanks, Yes it can happen when they take off early..... I do try varing her appraoch slowing her now to get shoter strides but she does like to go quick & leap

  • my frends horse does that

  • you have to be ready to jump when they do... someties before you think!

  • Wow. They have some strech!. can you get much height off them?. If so then they could be potentially some really good showjumpers! xxxx

  • No she cant jump high, this height is about it.

  • Oh really, thats too bad. You could reall do somthing with a strech like that!. xxxx

  • haha! love all ur vids. You must be a good trainer. All ur horses look so confident when they jump

  • Thanks, i luv making videos, I just have 2 horses, not a trainer!!!

  • Thanks she is super cute!

  • haha i love everyone's reactions. and this song =)

  • Thanks thought song went well with our riding

  • haha Lucy looks like superman! Such an amazing effort for a lil fence bless her heart =]

  • Thanks, she is a cutey... all fences look huge to Lucy & something to be tackled like it...

  • wooow ! she jumps nicely !!

  • Thanks, Lucy is not a very good jumper.... but here least she cleared it

  • Super cute horse!!! My horse would jump about the long for every jump. it was fun.

  • thanks, it can take you by surprise

  • wow shes super flashy with her font end! =]

  • Thanks, her front is good.... but problems with picking up back legs....

  • In wmm the look at the little preivew screem , in the bottom right corner next to this is a camera icon, click this to take a screen shot of whats paused on the screen, this saves a photo to your computer &vputs photo on the collection for you to add to video... hope this is ok?

  • Thanks, when usinh WMM in the little preview box you can pause the video & take a screen shot to put in...

  • öööööh?! that wat NOT long ?

    daaaaah

  • felt long to me!

  • It's obvious the striding is wrong ... you should always get someone who knows how to set up a jump on the floor or put the jumps up with the correct striding before you get onto your pony. Just some advice

  • Ok, this was a lesson with different size horses/ponys so maybe it was wrong for Lucy.

  • yeaah, i didnt think of that as i didnt know that it was that type of lesson, she is a nice strided horse isn't she :D x

  • she jumped long because the striding was wrong, that should be 5 short strides or 3 long ones. =D just remember to always walk out a double before riding it.

  • as above, this lesson had different size horses so maybe it was wrong & I can´t see strides very well..

  • i know whyy she does that, when the rider goes into jumping position on the first jump of a number of jumps in a row yu need to sit inbertween or the horse will not know when to set off. you basicly jump seat, normal seat imberteen then go back into jumping seat as the horse getts to 1 stride away lettin him/her know when to jump. i know this because i used to do the same thing when i was 11 a year ago. please try this and coment bak to me to let me know if it works for you. thank
