The Tea Party was a manufactured movement who were over publicized and did little more than lend momentum to a few candidates who proceeded to act precisely how they were told by the Koch Brothers. @Samuoregon actually they were in an area that was being cleared, which is why there was the orange barrier .. why did they stay in the barrier that was obviously being blocked off by police? HINT: when your told to move, it is a good idea to do so.

@themunz126 Really? Because to me it looked like they were standing on the correct side of the barrier that the police put in place and weren't resisting. Then a white-shirted (commanding officer) emerged from some distance and sprayed them in the face. The kind of people who deserve democracy are the kind who don't just do what they are told. That was a public street and the people don't feel like they are being heard ( see approval ratings of congress and president).

@Samuoregon would that be why they were just about the only ones there? A few seconds earlier screaming at the police as I saw in other videos. Other people moved when told and cleared the way .. maybe they were too busy screaming their protests to listen to the orders to move? And unfortunately we don't live in a democracy, never have .. it is a republic. Meaning your right to protest does not give you the right to infringe on other peoples right to quiet and do business.

@themunz126 Hmm, I didn't know the defining difference between a democracy and a republic meant you had to move when you were told. Regardless, I have a really hard time believing your assessment of the situation. No gesturing or moving on the part of the officers, just a direct and malicious appearing attack on a couple of petite young women. Furthermore, the point of protest is to not just allow business to continue as usual. Cronies get their way quietly, the rest of us have to make a noise.
