Couple of a days ago Igot from my local records shop an album of this great and admirable arist. Never heard of him or any armenian music before. Intuitively I bought that and must admit I'm mesmerised by the sounds. The best buy ever.

Gevork Dabaghyan plays much better than Djivan in my opinion, Jivan just has made his name of a great Duduk player, he has good publicity

I find dabaghyan to more "technical" of a player. Gasparyan is more of a "mood" player, and I find his work more evocative - similar to Minassian. I like Minassian's tone better than the others, but Gasparyan is able to take a similar tone and bring it to really different and powerful places more than Minassian. I like Dabaghyan's work a lot though. I just find his tone a bit nasal and his expression a bit "clipped". I do agree that Dabaghyan is one of the greats.

What recordings of Dabaghyan's music have you heard other than the videos on youtube? Also, Levon Minassian's work is evocative???? Have you heard any of the recordings of his on youtube? I strongly disagree...he doesn't play well. And if you check out the live version of "Hovern Engan" on here its way more "nasal" than Dabaghyan.

Gevork Dabaghyan is definitely a more "technical" player, but he does also have music that conveys a lot of emotion. If you'd like I can send over some music of his.
