also i must add that i think the police should be armed with MP40 machine guns and have death head badges and march all this scum out of Brighton up the downs to some nice new trenches and massacre them all,
Personally i dont give a shit about Iraq Gaza or any rag head country for that matter..i do agree we should shut EDO and invest the money in bigger nukes and drop them on Palistiene and get the job done quiker and for good.
I dont see any particular violence from either side although the police look terrified. I wonder why they are so scared? Im ot personally a fan of direct action, it doesnt really achieve anything except usually making the cause secondary to clashes between police and protesters. All this smash the state stuff is slightly childish there are real ways to deal with stuff and they extend further than clever slogans.
I think you're wrong here friend. The reason police react so badly to direct action is because they realise that it has and does achieve results. The state and the police are of course most comfortable when things are non-confrontational, non-violent because it/they know that historically it has done little. What I'm saying is that criticism and confrontation are the key to change.
First you're saying you think direct action (which I thought you were making in relation to the video) only causes clashes between police and protesters, I had chip in there and now you're changing your tune, saying it's attention seeking rubbish. The SmashEDO campaign has been very positive, the cops are scared for a reason. Of course if you think dropping bombs on innocent people is okey dokey...But hey, I'm happy to hear you out, what is attention seeking about this particular direct action?
Sorry, I saw protesters throwing fencing, breaching private property, breaching the peace. Breaching SOCPA. Nothing unfair from the cops, they did their job, upholding the law and keeping the peace. There must be better things you could do for the cause other than running around their car park, lobbing sones and GLASS bottles at cops and getting a pasting in the local press?? How many years have you been doing this? Has it worked so far? Time for a re-think maybe?
The smash EDO campaign has been entirely peaceful bar the carnival march.
Look at it this way, its extremely hard to keep calm when ignorant twats being paid upwards of 21.000 pounds a year are acting like arseholes and defending CRIMINALS who are complicit in GENOCIDE and ILLEGAL WARS(what the nazis were trialled at nurenberg for) with peices of paper bought with lawyers and political donations..
if it was supposed to be a peaceful protest why did so many people turn up fully prepared to or already covering their faces. It doesn't look good for the cause.
we started all masked up because we knew the FIT team were coming. they are the 'Forward Intelligence Team' they attempt to harass everyone by filming them and then fitting them up for being organisers of an illegal demo etc., its unnecessary bullshit so everyones faces covered eliminated the problem, as simon says: no to police cameras, yes to carnival!
Some came 'prepared to' becuase we expected to be brutally repressed so we wanted to be able to withstand it, and we did.
To allI those slating the efforts of smash edo I would like to ask exactly what your passion is. These people have took the time and trouble to travel the country passing on their message and point of view. You have to give them credit not only for their protest but their ability and committment to the right of the individuals to join together to voice their discomfort at the shit that happens in this world. I had hoped to be there but could not make it and in some ways
I am glad, I don't quite have the balls nor commitment to get arrested in an attempt to stop huge scale financial gain achieved by being effective at committing large scale acts of genicide. Much respect and you have definetly made me question my own individual morals, perhaps it is you who is the winger, if you thing large scale acts of legalised murder is an ethical form of buisness then as a society we are definetly doomed.
great job on the video holly, I really liked it. The write up in the papers was very unfair, making out that protestors were violent, at the end of the day, one cop was hurt by a plastic bottle, over a hundred of us demonstrating were beaten, gassed, choked even and had dogs set on us. who's violent? who's out of control? the baton wielding vicious fascists in florescent jackets, thats who!
I'm sick of people assuming that if someone is demonstrating they are jobless louts, drug addicted, trust-fund prats. its simply not true, I work, I'm not on a trust fund nor am I a druggie, yet I demonstrate and armchair commentators such as benmusashi make all sorts of prejudiced comments. grow up, and yes, untilallarefree is absolutely right, we couldn't care less what you right on the web, your an uninformed, pompous prat, go back to your cave

You are a bunch of irresponsible toss bags. Principles, my arse. You bag of Fraggle pricks just love to cause trouble. Look at the aggression on your grubby little faces then look at your methods. Pathetic.
I AGREE! I BET THEY AS NEVER DONE A DAYS WORK IN THEIR LIVES. THEY WOULDN'T BLOODY PROTEST IN IRAN NOW WOULD THEY. THEY SHOULD BE THANKFUL THEY LIVE IN A DEMOCRACY AN STOP ALL THIS DEMOSTATIN NONSENSE, THE LITTLE TERRORIST BUGGERS. HANGINS TOO GOOD FOR EM I SAY. WHERES ME DAILY MAIL?
EDO used to have two buildings in Brighton, then they sold out to ITT (who supplied Hitler in world war II), and ITT recently closed one of the buildings. It is overwhelmingly likely they did this because of the debt EDO MBM had conjured up over 4 years and thus it is also even more likely they will close the last building in Brighton, especially fter this one might think. Its important to remember that things don't change over night, they take months even years to take effect sometimes.
and how effective are you? keep your negative sniping to yourself, and if you have anything constructive to say, say it, if not, keep it to your sorry little self.

Violence....you're just as bad as EDOMBM are. You lost a lot of support after that 'peaceful protest'.

you're equating the making of bombs to drop on innocent peoples to the acts of these protesters? Get a clue.

Direct action is the only way of taking power
back for disenfranchised and disempowered people.
