The first season was easily the best season of the entire show. Boss was more intelligent, Rosco was a lot less dopey, and the episodes were more inventive. It also didn't hurt that they filmed in Covington, GA, as opposed to the back lot of Hollywood film studio.
By the end of season 1, the show became much more formulaic. Every episode involved a botched frame up of the Dukes by Boss and Rosco, and they always had a villain of the week. That's why early season 1 is so unique.

@shelton705 I couldnt agree more! I wish they stayed in Georgia, instead of going back to California, the first season will always be my favorite
