"freedom of the press" does not mean civil and criminal impunity, it only prohibits congress from passing laws which abridge the presses ability to report on non classified information.
This is a civil action against the reporter. Without a great deal of effort he could probably have it dismissed. They will have a fine established. It won't be too large so that it will seem like it's easier to pay it than push the issue. It is a fund raising club. Cops the DA, judges, county attorney, they all belong to it. You don't. There was no destruction of property, no injury, no plaintiff, no valid cause of action. It's a money making smoke screen unless you choose to fight it.

Then the cop obviously tells the kid for a second or third time "Lets move!" Afterward, the kid refuses by standing there on his phone saying "Ok, hold on." Charges not being filed doesn't prove innocence either. However, I DO agree with you about the choke move. It was not necessary to gain compliance. Most agencies Use of Force Policy dictates anything above the shoulders is for deadly force type of situations only. I didn't see any immediate threat to anyone's life or risk of serious bodily harm.

If he wanted to stand there he has EVERY right to stand there therefor breaking NO laws. also according to you you are saying if a cop told you to jump of a building and kill yourself you HAVE to do that or you will be arrested for not listening, is that right? @farrarjr3 Cops should respect the people they are sworn to protect. These idiots were being bullies plain and simple. The reporter was posing no threat to the police officers what so ever. You have no argument to that. Furthermore the police officers escalated the use of force when no force was used against them in the first place. That is why the charges were dropped. I would not be surprised so hear that the DA yelled at the officers involved for exposing the city to litigation.

"freedom of the press" does not mean civil and criminal impunity, it only prohibits congress from passing laws which abridge the presses ability to report on non classified information.

This is a civil action against the reporter. Without a great deal of effort he could probably have it dismissed. They will have a fine established. It won't be too large so that it will seem like it's easier to pay it than push the issue. It is a fund raising club. Cops the DA, judges, county attorney, they all belong to it. You don't. There was no destruction of property, no injury, no plaintiff, no valid cause of action. It's a money making smoke screen unless you choose to fight it.

I do not think cops swear an oath to the constitution because, they have no idea what the 1st ammendment says (freedom of religion, freedom of speach, the right to peacably assemble and freedom of the press) The reason why we have the freedom of the press is because we the people have the right to know.

They lost it when they failed to expose and hammer on corrupt politicians, both dems and repubs, violating our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and laws.
