  • Medieval 2 was and is my favorite total war.

  • @1169Timothy for me it goest ME2 . RM . SHGN 2 . SHGN 1 , Empire

  • Mon Dieu est ma roche.

  • Ha ha. Wales looks pissed off

  • Whether you'd want to live in the modern world or back then, there would have been many issues people would have faced. Today we have better medicine, technology and way of life as where back then it was more laboring and religiously driven. I do often wonder what it would be like but at the same time I count myself lucky to be here today. The only thing I feel that is missing is a sense of honor, or some sort of purpose to serve...you know?

  • @Jackw00pw00p2 yup, and that infact matters more then medicine, welfare and stuff. because if youd ask me, if i where but a common peasant in that time i would be happy.

  • @arthasmetalhatethil I see your point, in a strange sense it's the simplicity of things that would make me happy. As a common peasant your life would be simple, in fact many things would make your life simple. Today life just feels too commercial, too artificial with all that we have.

  • @Jackw00pw00p2 and that gets boring easily.

  • @Jackw00pw00p2 It was a simple life back then. People worked honest labour and were content. These days it's all "be all you can be" etc.

  • EPIC....

  • Go Irish and scots!!

    Where's the fight?!!

  • Scottish song translated into some other form of Gaelic

  • wales is the best

  • @MTheEmperor why?

  • @Schism704 Cause they have epic Longbowmen. :D And its probably his homeland or is descended from the Welsh.

  • @TheIronChancellor1 Wales are cool but England is unrivalled in this campaign, sorry. I like the other faction but England and it's swordsmen equal total domination

  • @Dolebob look for Enya ;)

  • the song is called "Ailein duinn", finally i found it, after watching this video a year ago :D

  • after listening to this sometimes I wished I lived in the age of chivalry

  • @GeneralFerdinand ...Then you remember the plague...

  • @GeneralFerdinand i always wishe i live in that age. way cooler. people would stay in their own country and stuff. and honour would still exist. now only madmans with bombs rule.

  • @arthasmetalhatethil

yeah, go have fun breaking your back trying to feed yourself, worshipping a tyrannical king while trying not to die from a toothache. you can have the age of religious injustice. I'll have my modern medicine

  • @superstrok99 and the cowardice of todays world.

  • @arthasmetalhatethil

small sacrifice. but Im sure for you "honour" is more important than the welfare of everyone

  • @superstrok99 lol why so hostile all of a sudden. and besides, peoples lives dont matter.

and im sure you are gay

  • @superstrok99 aaawww did i kick your sore leg?

  • @GeneralFerdinand I also wish I could have lived in those times :) When war was honorable! And people fought for glory and power.

  • @GeneralFerdinand god no. lol. Read about the middle ages and you will understand! :P This type of music didn't even exist then!

  • @MJFAN666 Yeah, I'd rather live in the age of toilet paper, thanks.

  • @hunterkiller232134 Toilet paper is the least of your worries my friend!

  • @hunterkiller232134 faggot.

  • I stare at the option menu for 5 minute just to listen this song

  • btw i extracted it from game if any one want it and i could extract any track for free

  • @MuhammadAli90 How do you do that? I mean extracting a song from the files.

  • the best track ever

  • Song sounds welsh

  • @THEBURNINGTIGERS medieval scotish

  • @MegaChristaras

Yes, it's a Scottish Gaelic lament from the late 1700s. The tradition goes it's meant to be sung by a woman, Annag Chaimbeul, towards her lost lover Dark-Haired Ailein. They were going to be married on the island of Scalpay, but the ship carrying Alan was lost in a storm and everyone on board drowned. She eventually lost the will to live and died herself a few months later, but she supposedly composed this song to lament his loss.

  • @MarvellousMuffin NNOOOOOOO!

  • @MarvellousMuffin That's beautiful.

  • @KimarTheGreat

It's good that you think that, considering there's more where this song came from. A lot of Gaels would write laments to express their emotions because they tended to be quite reserved. Laments were a way of letting all that emotion out. A good example is Grioghal Cridhe, a song said to have been written by the wife of a chieftan of Clan MacGregor after he was beheaded by the Campbells. It's a heartbreaking song.

  • dunno why,but for me this sound more like Middle Eastern type of song

  • the trolls of britain today are the full stacks of muslim sieging london. next turn glasgow

  • @menacinghat

Whaha that's right. Well you're 'lucky' with asians, we in holland got moroccans well that is fucking scum...

  • @azfantje2006 Kick 'em out, bro! Don't go all Neo-Nazi on them, but don't be afraid to kick out the bad elements!

  • @alphatotheomega7

How can I? When I critizise them I'm a racist and so on. I luckily live in a city where it's still proper living, but in the big cities the majority is morrocan\turkish\ from suriname.

  • @azfantje2006 Do they rape your white women?

  • @alphatotheomega7

Lol, presumably some will do that, but most white women who walk away with the muslims are very low educated stupid blond paintings.

  • @azfantje2006 Yeah here in America it's usually the really "fringe of white society" women that date black men, and I'm okay with that. It's just when a pretty, smart, white, middle-class girl starts dating the ghetto rats that I get pissed. And I don't hate black people, I have lots of Nigerian friends at my school, but they're 10,000 times more polite and educated than the black kids that dress like thugs and are in gangs in the bigger schools. Thank god we don't have gangs in my little town!

  • @alphatotheomega7

Yeah okay, but america is another thing of course. Many black people traditionally have very little chance to make something of their life and I think you can't blame the kids who get criminal because they were born in a ghetto, they're an vicitim as well. Here in europe the chances are much more scattered for every etnical groups, but still many moroccan, turkish and negro's fuck it up here.

  • @azfantje2006 That's probably why I'm such a ruthless supporter of abortion. Black women NEED abortion clinics because it prevents them from having a child that is just going to grow up poor and neglected, and as a result will just turn to crime. Abortion, in my opinion, is the Number 1 line of defense against street crime. Do your blacks and muslims learn Dutch, or do they just shurg it off like Turks in Germany do?

  • @alphatotheomega7

Well, of course everybody must have the chance of abortion, but I don't think that will solve the problem as blacks still are mothers and it isn't easy to drop out your kid I think. The only thing that you can possibly do is try to improve living standard in the ghetto's, but that'll be very difficult. Despite of many efforts of the, in my opinion way too soft, government many of them refuse to learn. The blacks aren't the biggest problem as they are from our former

  • colonies and they mostly speak dutch, but they are probably the worst criminals. Especially the muslims who're living here for about 30\40 years still can't speak proper dutch and that's a shame in my opinion, they just stick in their own environment and don't want to participate with the society. The criminality is very high, especially under moroccan youth, who terrorise our streets

  • @azfantje2006 That's terrible! And I thought the Netherlands was such as nice country, too! When I hear about such problems, I just wish the police could just round them all up and deport them or SOMETHING...ANYTHING THAT COULD BE DONE!!!

  • @alphatotheomega7

Yes it is, but I'm lucky to have proper education and live in a good neighbourhood but I'm very sorry for my fellow countrymen. Everybody is welcome here in my opinion, no matter which relegion or colour you are, but you have to adapt to our western society and respect our culture except of forcing us to adapt to their culture. Which place in us you live then? and btw, your german accent is pretty good, would've said you're from Bayern with the rolling r hehe

  • @azfantje2006 Yeah I think all western European countries need to adapt that model. As Angela Merkel said, Multiculturalism has failed. We need to get them integrated fast or the entire experiment is lost. I live in Iowa, which is a small, agriculturual state in the middle of the USA. We have very little problems with crime, although there's still some blacks and mexicans here and there that cause problems, but nowhere near as bad as it is in the big cities like St. Louis, Chicago, and NYC.

  • @alphatotheomega7

Yep, of course it's good that the EU leaders admit the failure of multiculti now, but fucking hell they should have noticed that a few decades before, now it's probably too late. Yea, the problems are mainly located in the south I think as there live the most blacks and of course in the big cities. You're the first yank i know who tries to speak another language hehe, because they expect everybody to speak english. But german isn't very hard to english\dutch speakers

  • @azfantje2006 Yeah, all those stereotypes you've heard about Americans being fat, stupid, ignorant, and too lazy to learn new languages are 100% TRUE. Most Americans are forced to learn Spanish in school, they drag their feet and forget it as soon as possible. I hate how the whole world has to English now, because we're too lazy to learn anything when we go overseas. I really hope to learn Dutch, since with German and English under my belt it'll be easy. Swedish and Norwegian too, hopefully!

  • @alphatotheomega7

Yep, Dutch is said to be a very tough language to learn, but if you are able to understand english and german you'll notice that many words are very similar, especially dutch-german. But that doesn't mean that a dutchman is able to speak german out of nothing, it really is another language. Well, with the contemporary globalization it's impossible to avoid the english language, we've borrowed many words from english for example I say' ik heb weekend', and everybody thinks

  • @azfantje2006

Everybody accepts that was normal, but it is not a dutch word. And that's just a small example of it.

  • @azfantje2006 Doesn't Dutch have a word for weekend? In German they have "Wochenende"

  • @alphatotheomega7 weekeinde.

  • @alphatotheomega7

Weekeinde is dutch, but the common word is weekend. And things like instead of 'korting' in every shop you see 'sale'. That are examples of 'amerikanisering' of 'verengelsing' of the world

  • @alphatotheomega7

Yikes. Progressives who hate their own country make one thow up in the mouth a bit.

  • @XKS99 That's just because America is a shittastic country sometimes. We have lots of cool freedoms, but our douchey brand of patriotism through redneck culture and country music gets to be a real pain in the ass.

  • @alphatotheomega7 I totally agree with you.I find Japanese culture, found through many a enrdy Godzilla movie,to be more enjoyable then ours.

  • @azfantje2006 And thanks, I pride myself on my ability to get an accent. Although, I did start rolling my Rs more when I started learning Russian too. That kinda leaked into my German haha.

  • Why does this song sound so East European, almost baltic?

  • @Soveraine the.....guitar type noise? and the singer lol

  • @Soveraine it doesn't to me. maybe its because you've never heard authentic eastern music or old celtic.

  • @deathdealer312 Have you ever heard eastern music?

  • @Soveraine yes i have, i was in iraq for a year, and the people there play eastern music. it sounds absolutely nothing like this.

  • @Soveraine Well, someone took a large dose of stupid this morning...

  • @Soveraine ok nvm i need to go back to first grade geography lol...

  • It kinda sound like frozen throne's night elf ending sountrack

  • I bought the Gold Edition just so I could play as Ireland... they're so bad ass.

  • americas is fucking boring

    teutonic order rules total war

  • @Jun0w13 Don't know why you wrote that here. But ok.

  • 5 people can't find the start button from Medieval 2 Kingdoms.^^

  • Glory for scotland

  • i need to learn how to play this song!!!!!!!

  • A Part of the Lyrics is also in OST Tomb Raider Legend

  • yeah...i agree i personaly think that they should of added the religious conflict between the Irish Christianity, which supported individual worship with no religious leader, and the Latin Catholics which as we know supported the pope... that conflict dictated much of the conflict between he norman invasion and the irish land lords

  • I chose to play with the Scotz just to have William Wallace as my general. w.w is one of the greatest man humanity has ever known. One of the freest man in the history.

By the way the Britain Campaign is the best.

  • @TupacMakaveliTheKing totally agree man, i just enjoy playing as norway cuz i like to show up uninvited and ruin everyones party

  • @TupacMakaveliTheKing nuh uh americas is beast

  • @F0XH0UND93

its the oldest known name for the Island of Great Britain, it literally translates into ''white islands''

  • Song is ailein duinn, it was written over 200 years ago by a women who lost her husband at sea and died of loneliness, seems rather fitting to me.

  • This song made it too hard to leave the menu screen.

  • @NightHawk92929 Hahaha the same for me.

  • @NightHawk92929 Lol I stayed on the title screen for ages, listend too this 2 times

  • @NightHawk92929 You are so right my friend...

  • ALBION!

  • @boyatiotis Theres more than one. When somebody says Celtic, they could mean any of the nations; Scotland, (Alba), Ireland (Eire), Wales (Cymru), Britanny (A Northern France region, Breizh), Isle of Man (Minnin Ellan Vannin) or Cornwall (Kernow).

Sorry to point this out but I don't like it when people say "The Celtic Language" or "The Celtic Culture"... I think the most common of the languages are Irish (Gaeilge), Scottish (Gaidhlig) and Welsh (Cymraeg).

  • whats the stringed instrument in this song?

  • @Dontholdback747 a lute?

  • @Dontholdback747 It´s a hammered dulcimer, also known as Santoor in persian. Very beautiful instrument.

  • I just impusively bought this expansion (I wanted to before, but I thought I would first finnish my campaign on vanilla), and I just love the Whelsh already. ;D FY Brittain! >:D

  • Scottish/Irish blood FTW! :D

  • as soon as it started i was like 'Oh i remember this one!' lol

  • Gura mise tha fo éislean, Moch 's a' mhadainn is mi 'g éirigh, Ò hì shiùbhlainn leat, Hì ri bhò hò ru bhì, Hì ri bhò hò rionn o ho, Ailein duinn, ò hì shiùbhlainn leat. Ma 's e cluasag dhut a' ghainneamh, Ma 's e leabaidh dhut an fheamainn, Ò ì shiùbhlainn leat, Hì ri bhò hò ru bhì, Hì ri bhò hò rionn o ho, Ailein duinn, ò hì shiùbhlainn leat.

  • We don't have many records of Albion today. Really a shame. Still Britain is better! Thanks to their royal blood; We here in Norway will never go to war again against our allies, because our king is part English! :D

  • @Bidmartinlo i reckon you played the game? Then you'll know you did go to war with the britons.

  • @VioletteChevre We did, but that's a long time ago. We are allies now! Mostly because of UN and NATO, but also because of our king (who is a relative to one of the royals in England). And of course, I go to war against everyone in this game. It ends in one huge massacre! >:D

  • Dream of Albion... spanning back to the Roman empire, they whom christened the isle, it is the dream of a Britain united under one king--to bring an end to ages of war, and finally know the peace and unification of an empire.

  • The True music of the British Isles,

as the welsh, scottish and Irish to fight off the Oppression of the Englishman :)

  • @UKGBjoker true!

  • @UKGBjoker

You were not complaining when you lot took over the world with us:D

  • @VigisKane Zing! XD

  • this song should be performed with real instruments at a concert i'd like to go and see that one

  • this music is too good for a pc game.

  • Ah how this game beautifully demonstrates why we all still hate each other today :P

  • @Lab356

On the contrary, it's a United Kingdom filled with people who can't bloody stand each other! That's practaclly Zen.

  • Being a Welshman I have to say she is singing this in Gaelic Irish. Sorry if someone stated this before me, I'm just quickly passing through.

  • the language is the medeival english ,it has thy not the etc ]

  • @MegaChristaras Nah, it's Scottish Gaelic. And thy is "your", not "the". :P You might be thinking of "ye", and even that is actually a way of saying "you" to more than one person. English is a funny language like that.

  • Perfid Albion

  • Amazing song. When I first opened the campaign, I was like - "This is totally Medieval Britannic music...awesome!" I can just see the grey skies and desolate highlands before me!

  • @Ambarenya13 I am not from Britain but yes, it looks totally belong to Medieval Britain!

  • It does seem like it was sung by Angela, and I think it actually is. But the original is actually called Ailein Duinn. I still like this version a bit better, but that's because Angela's voice is perfect. I think it fits the atmosphere of Celtic Ireland, Scotland, and England best.

  • nota nota

  • oops sorry. I just reformat my pc. reinstalled Kingdoms WITHOUT Stainless Steel mod. This is the music in the main menu of Britannia Campaign. It somehow affected my original folder hehe

The one i heard from the mod is The Last of The Mohicans. Pretty good music!

  • My favourite campaign from Medieval 2 Total War. Music is amazing...

  • This is not the music it played at the main menu for Britannia Campaign! Is there any link for it at Youtube?

  • This is a land where the greatest medieval fantasies originated. King Arthur, Boudica, and Merlin... truly where we get so many of our notions of fantasy from. I love this song the most in the Britannia campaign, though I must admit, I love Tally-ho during the battles. Álainn.

  • Comment removed

  • tnx for tht anyways.

  • what is the name of folder where do you convert the files to MP3

  • @turbotannn I think it's medieval 2/data/sounds/music. not sure though, there's not enough room in my head for everything =).

  • @Replier527

Hehe, I'm not British at all, I'm pretty much everything but British, mostly Hungarian and Italian though.

  • @Replier527

To, me it sounds Welsh. Personally I think Britannia was the best out of the Kingdoms expansion, Teutonic was fun, Crusades had some strong points, and the Americas campaign was crap.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

  • Angela van Dyck have great voice. Her husband Jeff van Dyck genious composer.Shortly Angela and Jeff van Dyck perfect couple.I really like this song.

  • A marvelous piece of music which conveys the mood of Britannia and Hibernia at the time of the Medieval Era.

  • Sounds like the Tmb Raider legend Theme music...wierd

  • wondering... maybe it's only me... but the lyrics doesn't seem to match the song? though it's a damn lovely song love it

  • I love this song. IMO, it's the best off of the Britannia campaign.

  • Yup , this song is so bad ass.. i just let the title screen sit there.. so i can hear it

  • so i went and had a look at the tomb raider legend music and found it was a version of a song from the movie Rob Roy called 'ailein duinn'.

there's a version of the song here on youtube- copy and paste, have a listen, it's pretty similar to this (if not the same).

i'm probably wasting my time with this, aren't i?

  • @wangpangu

Of course You are. But aren't I doing the same by replying to a month old comment?

    :)

  • it really sounds like a slower version of the tomb raider legend theme music. maybe that's just me i don't know.

  • This is the most beautiful rendition of this lament that I have ever heard.

  • love the picture of the english fort under siege by the brave Irish ! :D

  • love the picture of the english fort under siege by the Brave Irish ;)

  • @Mohsin77 It's the Welsh besieging, mate.

  • @Mohsin77 you mean by "the Brave Welsh" ;)

  • @tacheshun oh whoops lol ;) my bad i just like playing as the Irish and Scots :D associated the green with Ireland as usual ... haha

  • @Mohsin77 its welsh not irish :D

  • @jayjay042298456 lol ! :)

  • @Soveraine The welsh are actually Celtic

  • do you know the song name of the intro??

  • It's the percussion that does it for me.

  • One of the best songs of all the Total War series! 5*****

  • Gura mise tha fo èislean...

  • this one is badass.....captures the brittania image to me

  • Awesome song! <3

  • i love this song!!!

  • Am I the only one who's heard this similier song in multiple video games?

It was the Night Elf defeat song, and it was also in Tomb Raider: Legends.

I wonder if "Dream of Albion" is the songs real name
