I love this song...it's musically and lyrically beautiful. It feels a little off without the harmonica parts between the bridge and last chorus, but I still love it. Thanks for sharing/posting this :-)
I have been obsessed with this song since I heard him perform it in Buffalo this past August. I'm hoping for a new EP or album soon, I heard a new full length might be out this summer?
He came out and played this for an encore when I saw the Decemberists in Burlington, VT. Looks like I was right, remembering it being one of the best Decemberists songs I'd heard.
There's a good 5 or 6 unreleased songs that the Decemberists have been playing lately, like Down By the Water, Rox in the Box, and The Calamity Song. EP soon, maybe?
@MajestySnowbird In an interview with Jenny while they were over here She said they were heading back into the studio in May to record a new album. So hopefully we'll hear a new one by the end of the year.

I love this song, and does anyone else think he kinda looks like Chief Tyrol from Battlestar Galactica with the beard? Or am I just stupidly nerdy?

excellent song! i'm all for progression but i'd love for the decemberists to go back to this sort of stuff. it's what they're best at imo.
