Joni is an indigo, meaning that her soul is a being in the seventh dimension; whereas the rest of us (who do have souls) have souls dwelling in the sixth dimension. This information is beyond the logic circuits of the surface mind, so just try to feel the truth of this - in the same way that you feel the truth of Joni's observations. Other indigos are Tesla, Einstein, Yeats, Ben Franklin, Rudyar, DD Palmer, Black Elk, Beethoven, Hiromi Uehara, Jeane Dixon, Groucho.
This is a classic father-to-son poem, which ends with, "... you'll be a Man my son!" not "... you'll be alright, you got the fight, you got the insight." Sorry, Joni - you missed the whole point. You have to be a Dad to understand how important this is.
beautiful--wish the words were at the bottom so one can just enjoy the beautiful images. been a fan of joni's for over 40 years--yeah, i'm ancient, but, so what?
a priceless treasure you have created....beautiful interpretation of the great Joni classic....touches the deep places in our heart s and souls..thank you for your time bringing this gift to the circle...really a joy to watch...and Joni remains one of my most favorite of all time.
Beautiful words from Kipling. A Mantra for how to live your life - with love, kindness, respect, integrity and forgiveness. Such sweet dulcet tones from Joni. Great Post
this song played at my grandfather's funeral about two and a half years ago. throughout the day it was playing in the corner quietly with this little slide-show of photos from his life, along with pictures of my father, my uncle and aunt. I never got a good listen, but everytime I passed by it, I always remembered the ending "you got the fight you got the insight" part. and the last photo of the slide-show was my grandfather holding up my dad when he was just a kid. now I hear the song again.
This song really lays it out here with Kiplings poem. You know its funny i had never really thought about that poem in this way until i heard this song. This is model for life. Peace out.
I've been a JM fan all my life since "Court and Spark" I guess it trailed off after "Hejira",
but this is one of her best, and this is the first time I heard it, a couple' life times later.
Albums and beers and girlfriends and loathing, the mile markers, that end up at this
rusting, aging, and forgiving winter once more.

@DigitalAntiquaria Kipling did not have a son at the time that he wrote the poem, but I doubt he missed the whole point.
