Bought this because I wanted a pine body tele on the cheap and figured this would be a good project for upgrades. To my surprise it rivals my 2 MIA Tele's and the plus is the pine body gives it woody tones I don't have in any of my other 40 plus guitars (maybe except for my '69 Gretch). It plays great, sounds great, costs little. Feels ...

That is absolute BUTTER!!!!. Been seriously considering a build. I want a '51 Nocaster (people in hell want ice water, too) but I am not refinancing the house to buy one. So, why not build one to those specs and not have to worry about playing a chunk of gold. Great video johntuggle.
I have always thought that Fender's lower end captured the heritage sounds and tones much more than Epiphone. This guitar is a good example of how close, if not on the nose, they get.
That is a dam fine guitar... once you slap on a four-way switch, swap out the pickups, switch in some larger compensated brass saddles and replace that awful skinny neck with an AllParts TMNF-FAT - Chunky Replacement Neck.
@Maafa1619 Idon't agree....I have one of these and it's perfect...great action, exellent neck, nothing wrong with a slim neck at all, good if you don't have giant fingers....and the quality is amazing all the way---- classic vibe...and it sounds like it...BUT put on a modern pedal and you can get amazing rock metal tones too....
@stevoe1000 There is nothing wrong with a slim neck if you are a 14 year old girl. Otherwise... The pickups are merely okay. The neck was a deal-killer. So, I put an AllParts Chunky Fat neck re-radius to a proper Tele 7¼". If you want an extra CV50s skinny neck, I'll fish my out of the garbage...
@stevoe1000 Well then, you'll be happy to know that there are about a thousand people on EBay trying to unload them for something much more befitting of a 50s-esque BSB Telecaster, i.e. a baseball bat with a 7¼" radius.
@Maafa1619 I''m happy with mine and I've had a USA Tele and a bassball bat joan jett gibson neck and I like all 3... no prefference but both the Tele's felt the best...
@stevoe1000 To each their own. I saw my CV50s Tele as a modding platform from the beginning. I don't care for Gibson guitars. I grew up playing them, but now I cannot abide either a 12" radius or a guitar or one with a set neck. To tell you the truth, it's unlikely that I'll even buy another Fender, expect as a collector's piece. From here on out, I'm probably just going to buy custom Warmouth stuff and assemble exactly what I want, right down to the caps.
@Maafa1619 Yeah I think it's getting that way now, better to make your own guitar to the specs you prefer....as it seems Fender etc are bringing out new ones all the time but nothing really different or special about them.....all the Warmouth stuff seems nice yes...
@stevoe1000 It makes perfect sense (I said Warmouth, but I really meant them or AllParts etc...) For about $800 I can put together a completely customized Tele that I like better than a $1600 Fender '52 Reissue. God only knows how much it would cost to get a Fender from their custom shop made to your individual specifications.
Squier ruined that guitar by putting a ridiculously thin neck on it. Look on Ebay, and you'll see a hundred people trying to unload those lousy necks.
Great playing as always, John. I had been intrigued by this guitar but was turned off by the Squire name and the low quality rep it has...might need to take another look at this one
Great tones, John. Do you really think it needs a pickup change or you are only planning to experiment? After this demo I definitely feel like buying one of those.
@iagobroxado I don't think it needs a pickup change at all. Although I would really like to hear what a Seymour Duncan mini-humbucker would sound like in the neck position. Thanks a lot.
@johntuggle Hey man, do you not think the Neck pickup is a bit muddy? I found that but I'm not sure if it's me :S also, did you know the Neck cavity is routed so you can fit a Bucker in there?
@ravenshield56 Well I haven't used the neck pickup too much. I would like to put a mini-humbucker in there though. I've been using the middle position and the bridge mainly. How do you like it?
@johntuggle ohh ok fair enough! and I was thinking along the same lines actually, just to beef it up a little in the middle position particularly. And I absolutely love it! it really is a fantastic guitar, to be honest it has been the best guitar I have bought, althogh I purchased one, and the frets where really badly set and leveled so sent it back, they gave me a new one and it is fantastic! the action is maybe a little too low when you first get it, but I heard it is for begginers or someth
@ravenshield56 I agree. I'd like to put a seymour duncan in it sometime. It took some time to adjust the action, truss rod, and getting it where I like it. It's an amazing sounding guitar for that cheap. I can't really believe how much I like it.
@johntuggle :) make a video if you do? I'd love to hear it for myself, or if i happen to do it first I will send you some sound samples to see what you think!
You got some great video's here man, I have taken the pleasure of subscribing to your channel :)
Thank you so much for the demo, John. I've been interested in this guitar for ages, and now that they've made this butterscotch/see through finish version with alnico Vs, I think I'll buy it. Great demo.

@Maafa1619 ...of course, if you're going to use it exclusively for slide playing, then you don't need the chunky neck.

@johntuggle It's already routed for a full sized neck humbucker.
It's a pretty nice guitar, but if I can't find a fatter neck (for less than I paid for the whole guitar) then I'm selling mine.
