Her catch is amazing! I've been working towards that catch forever and it's so difficult to do. She's definitely someone I look up to as a freestyler.
@serolfgr Visit our website - goswim dot TV - the video is available both as a DVD and as streaming online. When you get to the website, just type in KARA LYNN in the google search bar... the first two entries that pop up are links to the videos. Thanks.
It's great to see what she can achieve. I can see the competitive swimmers maximise everything they can. Her strokes are very fast, with elbows bent & straighten asap, arms keep by her side in pulling, min. turn of body except in breathing, she has done her best but I can't see myself doing all that, I swim for leisure.
Sorry,I misread the question,I'll remove my comments.Yeah, you are right she should have done that but probably wasn't in a race or it wasn't important in that segment of educational video. Those cut out's are from full educational/instructional video, made up in trailer form. Also if you notice, flip turn she did was close to surface for butterfly kick to have a effect(usually you would go a bit deeper).Since we both know swimming, feel free to talk on my channel :-)
This question is adressed to any experienced competitive swimmers. I'm an ex-middle distance swimmer looking to move to long distance open water swimming. I've been told that the total immersion is perect for this. However total immersion doesn't bother with e.v.f snce it says most people can'tdo it properly, but i became retively accomplished at. Basically my question is should i keep my old pool middle distance stroke and just build endurance or swith to a specialised open water one? Thanks!
@andyr798ken If your middle distance stroke is similar to a lot of reasonably proffessional middle distance swimmers then you could probably use a very similar stroke for your open water. For example David Davies of GB swims the 400m in the pool up to 10k open water. Obviously you will want to slow your stroke down and possibly make it a little bit more of a catch-up style. But you really just need to build up endurance like you say and also keep your muscles relaxed. 10k is a long way to go!
And Terry Laughlin makes that very point. TI is designed to develop the 98% of swimmers who aren't naturals like Kara and it does that really well. Besides, I dropped my 50m time by 2 secs because TI helped my overall body position in the water - the kick was irrelevant
hey i've been swimming since i'm sixteen i was short back then but now i'm around six feet to be precise about six and a half or six one but i think swimming helped me grow taller. for all you kids out there i think you should start swimming.
Holly shit, it is amazing !
