@liselater : I'm curious, is that an actual fact about a real person you love, or is it an intangible but steadfast moral and philosophical decision you've made about the direction your life should ideally go?
Thinking of going to NY...dont. It sucks smells like car exhaust and shit.
New York is still trying to live in its glamour from years gone by...much like a high school sports star will still talk about his "glory days" even when they are 40....its a pathetic way to hold on to old glory.
There are better cities, with better food, views, people etc.
@agenthelios1 : New York is weird...In my opinion, it's all of the above, during the day. Sure, it's got bits of old-time glamour and attitude, but I'd take San Francisco or Chicago over New York, any day...
However! At night, it's completely flipped. The city develops this energy, almost like it's alive, and it transforms into a city that really does have an intensity and magic to it that
makes it very special and very worthwile.
Skip it until atleast 5pm, though, and leave before 11am.
@honeybadger81 I was talking about TRUE international cities like Miami, Singapore, Tokyo. I am well traveled and was lucky enough to go to Tokyo before Fukushima messed it up.Thats a REAL city.
New York does not come alive at night (maybe with drug activity and bums) but I lived in NY for 2 years and its a shithole. If you are a wannabe hipster or think by living in NY you will somehow make it big then...yeah your delusions about NY are justfied, but to the rest of us it sucks.
Does anyone know to date where the new M. Wells has opened? I think the one at Long Island City just recently closed! Please message me the address or website or w/e of the new place TY
@lucky44124 Sometimes when you have some sort of layover no matter what, you book it to get the most out of it if possible. At least that is what I and some of my travel friends like to do. I.E. I see two flights to London. One direct, but one with a layover for a few hours. Ok well what if I can ask the airline if I can have 24 hours in New York instead of flying direct or imprisoning my self in the airport. It's a fun mini-trip! Can't wait for my 4 hour layover in Vancouver for foie gras!

Crif is good, but if you want the best hot dog ever, come to Chicago and go to Hot Doug's. Crif will NEVER be as good.
