Get the CBR. It has more torque which is more useful for around the town riding and it also has electronic fuel injection. Hey, if you haven't made your decision yet, this is a decision I'm faced with right now. I think I'm going with the Ninja though because they are tried and true I mean they have owned the 250 class for quite a while. Plus, they have the parallel twin so you get more of a sport bike feel and performance than the CBR's single cylinder, though the CBR does have better technology.
@xSOVAINxSLEAZYGLAMx was wondering the same thing as was going to say CBR because its a brand new bike for $4K and it is fuel injected. No warming up or carburetor hassle.

Well i just bought d cbr 250r just over a month ago and its naice! :D i dont ride it much though ( cuz i dont hav a drivers license yet ) i also like the ninja which my frnd owns! So i hav tried both d bikes! Really cant chose between the two! I feel the ninja is smoother ( maybe it feels dat way coz my bike has done only 500 kms)! I personally like d ninja more! I personally don't like the look of the Honda. Abs isn't that important, can be trouble in corners. Fuel injection is nice but not a must. I ride a 2010 ninja and I love it, again fuel injection would be nice. Especially when upgrading engine parts, would be faster and easier to tune. Ninja has better top end and a little more power. But they both 250's, get what u like, just don't expect lots of power or speed.
in about 3 months im going to get the kawasaki 250r becuase ive always been a kawasaki fan and also ive done a lot of research and it has the most (good opinions) about it..also ive heard it is better built and may last longer becuase some guys CBR250 was brand new and it started to peel and rust on him already...but yeh i live in las vegas and if ur near by and want to ride and hang out then let me know even though i dont have my black kawasaki ninja yet haha

Cycle World magazine did a good comparison of the two. In short, the CBR rode smoother, had more power, felt more refined and composed (stable) while cornering, and they thought it also looked better.
Honda 250 hands down. The optional ABS (which I highly recommend) the fuel injection (the ninja doesn't have it) and I honestly think it looks better. Up to you. The Ninja, I used to have, but the fact that I had to put the choke on, and had my brakes lock up on me, I feel a lot safer with the Honda.
You should bring the CBR 150R And 125R models to america! They are both great starter bikes, and they are both considered mopeds here. Which means 15 and 16 year olds can ride a real sport bike that has real sport bike power, gears, and rpm, instead of some ugly CVT mopeds.

Had the same dilema, but the only thing that that made the CBR more attractive was the ABS and I can live without that as I don't plan on riding in the rain anyway. The digital dash is nice, but I can live without it. The ninja has EFI in europe so from that point they are the same. The ninja also looks better and is definitely my number one choice.

I still don't know, I'm pushing towards the Ninja because they have been making lower end 250cc engines for a longer then Honda, the price of the Ninja would stay the same, the Honda will also remain at the same price when it comes to sell, but I really wanted a green bike, its sometime else when someone asks you what you ride and you say "I got a Ninja", rather than "I got a Honda" idk, I want the fuel injected Ninja personally :)
@MadDogMeh i have the ninja 250r FI and where i work someone has cbr 250r, i must say the ninja 250r looks waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy better then the cbr, the stock exaust of the ninja is to silent (just put aftermarket exhaust on it like i did) and the power for a 250 is great i think, easy outaccelerating cars. I already got alot of compliments about the looks and the sound of the bike and most of them think its a 600cc ^^. I think if you buy the kawasaki you won't regret it ;). Atleast i din't!!
hey i was torn with the bikes... but i tested both.. they both feel good.. the ninja felt better on the freeways here in australia.. and the body doesnt shake as much as the honda... this years ninja has improved alot which is surprising coz honda usually make the best.. honda is good dont get me wrong but for me the ninja feels bigger, and more complete.. ill be posting some vlogs on my channel when i go to pick up my bike in the next few weeks.
@dadurtysway Well Kawasaki has been making the Ninja for many many years and has proven its self that whole time. I LOVE my Ninja 250r and love the way if feels on the road. The Ninja also has higher top end but the Honda has a slight better low end I hear. You just can't go wrong with the Ninja. I have the 2008 black on black edition :-)
im on the east coast U.S and the CBR doesnt get released here till next week, im aiming for the honda my self. the kawasaki has had the game for years, but the ninja 250 has a carb, weighs in 20 pounds more, has some cheap features and doesnt have ABS. the Ninja also has a less smooth, beginner friendly platform. i have a few years under my belt and my friends own a dealer ive seen and demoed quite a few toys. but all in all i suggest u go sit on them both and if you can test drive them.
Get the 250r, I just sold mine, Great bikes, reason i say the 250 is because the cbr only runs on 1 cylinder ... what kind of joke is that? yea it may be fuel injected but that doesnt mean you just hop on and go, you still have to let injected bikes warm up, my lawn mower runs on 1 cylinder, lol, get the ninja , performance will be so much better, yea abs brakes on the honda, but abs brakes are the most misunderstood thing, learn how to brake and you wont need them!!!
In Hawaii the Ninjas Higher performance wouldn't factor in much, while the Honda's greater torque, lighter weight,optional ABS, quick start-ups and economy would.
As for the new bike quirks, they would show up in the Thai and Indian bikes first, so the recall could be done before they show up stateside.
Looks are entirely opinionated, but I like the Honda's fine and I think it makes a better naked bike than the Ninja in case you get bored with its looks.
The Honda has more low end torque, its better for going around town, 0-60 time is around 7 seconds, its not as fast as the Ninja, but it has alot more options, like ABS and an oil pressure/temp gage which most bikes don't have. Test drive both, the Honda (from what I've heard) is a smoother bike, but why would you bike a 250 to race it? the 250CC engine is for starters. Try out both. I'm getting the Honda, but only because there is no Ninja dealership near me :(
hey im 19 and im also looking for a bike and in my opinion the ninja 250r is the better choice because the ninja 250r has been around since 1988 and they have had time to fix all the lil problems that people dont like and the cbr250 is new to 2011 so there hasnt been much feed back from customers but it all depends on you if you like the honda better than go for that but there both really nice bikes so its kinda hard u should test drive both and see witch one feels better to you then decide

Got my 2011 ninja 250 about 4 days ago. I love it. Cant say much about the CBR but all I know is that Kawasaki has been making there 250 since the 80's so you definitely cant go wrong there. Look forward to seeing which bike you pick.
ive got the 2011 ninja 250r, and ill tell you now, its a perfect bike, great seat height, its very affordable, and its light weight handling, if you like speeding, when the ninja250r get to about 8,000 RPM it takes off and goes hard. if it helps my rating of the ninja 250 is 10 stars.

And fuel injection? Who cares. I like to be able to tune the carb.resale value on used gets yr money back possibly a couple hundred more

@UltraSWG Seems to have amazing performance to me especially for a 250. I was gonna get a zx6r but better riders start low.. It owns any bigger bike in twisties tho thats a plus.. aha. well i wouldnt know cbr250s arent even by me the honda dealer just doesnt want em. Kawi says 60mpg a gallon. 4.8 gallon tank. 60*4.8= 288. But most of the time I get 290. Last I heard cbrs struggle to get 60.. with its 3.4 gallon tank. But it just comes down to styling preference I guess cz they're equal.
I'm thinking of getting the CBR250R myself - The specs are similar enough to where the small HP advantage of the ninja isn't a huge negative against the honda. Also, I never really intend on taking my honda past 80mph, so that 6th gear performance of the ninja isn't something I need. The torque in the lower gears suits me well! I think I decided honda because I have had tremendous luck with their durability in the past and will buy based on that. GL on your decision!

ninja 250 definatly, dont waste your money on a honda 250r because you are going to outgrow the 250 and want a bike with more power. the 1 grand more is not worth the honda. Kawasaki is legendary for their 250 and other bikes.
@oMikeHawk No one picks a 250 for power and speed, so ignore those arguments. The Ninja is the same price as the Honda, but you get more on the Honda. The Honda is fuel injected, so you just hop on and go. The Ninja has carbs, which requires warm up time. The Honda has more torque, which makes it more usable in every day traffic. The Honda gets alot better gas mileage and the maintenance schedule is literally twice as long, so it will cost literally half as much to maintain.

the new cbr250 does seem a bit fancy, looking at the dyno charts for the both the ninja has more hp and tq than the cbr. we have a cbr250 at our main store but its for the techs to get accustomed to it so we cant ride it. i do own a '10 ninja 250r and i love it. i do have a 636 but for some reason i love the ninja250. its fast, very agile, and soooooo easy to ride. it can reach 115mph but thats running the hell out of it. can run all day @ 75-80 and wont hurt it. very smooth ride 2. i say ninja

Well i just bought d cbr 250r just over a month ago and its naice! :D i dont ride it much though ( cuz i dont hav a drivers license yet ) i also like the ninja which my frnd owns! So i hav tried both d bikes! Really cant chose between the two! I feel the ninja is smoother ( maybe it feels dat way coz my bike has done only 500 kms)! I personally like d ninja more! But d problem here was d price! In india d ninja is twice as costly as d cbr!

ok here is a serious question no jokes please. I'm torn between the ninja and the cbr as wee, heavily leaning towards the cbr just cause its a honda. problem is, im a big guy @ 285lbs. the guy at the dealer was trying to sell me a ninja 650r but it just seems too fast (dangerous) for my first bike. not a big fan of the $7,199 price tag either. with my weight is 250cc enough power for a guy my size? no fat jokes please.

I personally don't like the look of the Honda. Abs isn't that important, can be trouble in corners. Fuel injection is nice but not a must. I ride a 2010 ninja and I love it, again fuel injection would be nice. Especially when upgrading engine parts, would be faster and easier to tune. Ninja has better top end and a little more power. But they both 250's, get what u like, just don't expect lots of power or speed.

in about 3 months im going to get the kawasaki 250r becuase ive always been a kawasaki fan and also ive done a lot of research and it has the most (good opinions) about it..also ive heard it is better built and may last longer becuase some guys CBR250 was brand new and it started to peel and rust on him already...but yeh i live in las vegas and if ur near by and want to ride and hang out then let me know even though i dont have my black kawasaki ninja yet haha

Cycle World magazine did a good comparison of the two. In short, the CBR rode smoother, had more power, felt more refined and composed (stable) while cornering, and they thought it also looked better.

Honda 250 hands down. The optional ABS (which I highly recommend) the fuel injection (the ninja doesn't have it) and I honestly think it looks better. Up to you. The Ninja, I used to have, but the fact that I had to put the choke on, and had my brakes lock up on me, I feel a lot safer with the Honda.

You should bring the CBR 150R And 125R models to america! They are both great starter bikes, and they are both considered mopeds here. Which means 15 and 16 year olds can ride a real sport bike that has real sport bike power, gears, and rpm, instead of some ugly CVT mopeds.

hey, i got a 2009 ninja 250r and all i can say is i'm glad i got it as my first bike. i have learned so much from it and still do. i say ninja is a good way to go but its just my opinion and only you know what's best for you so, you should go out and drive them both and see which one you like, cuz at the end of the day its you who will be riding it. I drive my ninja every day to school and back on highway about 80 miles round trip, very comfortable for a sport bike.

Had the same dilema, but the only thing that that made the CBR more attractive was the ABS and I can live without that as I don't plan on riding in the rain anyway. The digital dash is nice, but I can live without it. The ninja has EFI in europe so from that point they are the same. The ninja also looks better and is definitely my number one choice.

The run down on the 2 models.
Ninja-
Good: looks like a bigger bike, 2 cylinders (making it quicker).
Higher top speed. 20 years of 250. so 250 is perfected.
Bad: Carbs to Clean/sync. Warm up etc......
Cbr-
Good: FUEL INJECTED. Don't have to shift so much.
Bad: VERY thin. Make it show it's a 250. ONE cylinder. Lower top speed.
(I heard it has a lot of vibration)
KEEP IN MIND (cbr is a more "in town" type of ride. its low torque. not made to reach highway-freeway speeds quickly...)

Also has the OPTION for abs. for additional $500.
I am cought in the same situation. I am unsure of what to buy. But I am leaning for the Ninja. Just looks better. Only if the Ninja was digital and Fuel Injected in the US!!! it would be the perfect bike!

I still don't know, I'm pushing towards the Ninja because they have been making lower end 250cc engines for a longer then Honda, the price of the Ninja would stay the same, the Honda will also remain at the same price when it comes to sell, but I really wanted a green bike, its sometime else when someone asks you what you ride and you say "I got a Ninja", rather than "I got a Honda" idk, I want the fuel injected Ninja personally :)

@MadDogMeh i have the ninja 250r FI and where i work someone has cbr 250r, i must say the ninja 250r looks waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy better then the cbr, the stock exaust of the ninja is to silent (just put aftermarket exhaust on it like i did) and the power for a 250 is great i think, easy outaccelerating cars. I already got alot of compliments about the looks and the sound of the bike and most of them think its a 600cc ^^. I think if you buy the kawasaki you won't regret it ;). Atleast i din't!!

hey i was torn with the bikes... but i tested both.. they both feel good.. the ninja felt better on the freeways here in australia.. and the body doesnt shake as much as the honda... this years ninja has improved alot which is surprising coz honda usually make the best.. honda is good dont get me wrong but for me the ninja feels bigger, and more complete.. ill be posting some vlogs on my channel when i go to pick up my bike in the next few weeks.

@dadurtysway Well Kawasaki has been making the Ninja for many many years and has proven its self that whole time. I LOVE my Ninja 250r and love the way if feels on the road. The Ninja also has higher top end but the Honda has a slight better low end I hear. You just can't go wrong with the Ninja. I have the 2008 black on black edition :-)

im on the east coast U.S and the CBR doesnt get released here till next week, im aiming for the honda my self. the kawasaki has had the game for years, but the ninja 250 has a carb, weighs in 20 pounds more, has some cheap features and doesnt have ABS. the Ninja also has a less smooth, beginner friendly platform. i have a few years under my belt and my friends own a dealer ive seen and demoed quite a few toys. but all in all i suggest u go sit on them both and if you can test drive them.

Get the 250r, I just sold mine, Great bikes, reason i say the 250 is because the cbr only runs on 1 cylinder ... what kind of joke is that? yea it may be fuel injected but that doesnt mean you just hop on and go, you still have to let injected bikes warm up, my lawn mower runs on 1 cylinder, lol, get the ninja , performance will be so much better, yea abs brakes on the honda, but abs brakes are the most misunderstood thing, learn how to brake and you wont need them!!!

In Hawaii the Ninjas Higher performance wouldn't factor in much, while the Honda's greater torque, lighter weight,optional ABS, quick start-ups and economy would.
As for the new bike quirks, they would show up in the Thai and Indian bikes first, so the recall could be done before they show up stateside.
Looks are entirely opinionated, but I like the Honda's fine and I think it makes a better naked bike than the Ninja in case you get bored with its looks.

The Honda has more low end torque, its better for going around town, 0-60 time is around 7 seconds, its not as fast as the Ninja, but it has alot more options, like ABS and an oil pressure/temp gage which most bikes don't have. Test drive both, the Honda (from what I've heard) is a smoother bike, but why would you bike a 250 to race it? the 250CC engine is for starters. Try out both. I'm getting the Honda, but only because there is no Ninja dealership near me :(

hey im 19 and im also looking for a bike and in my opinion the ninja 250r is the better choice because the ninja 250r has been around since 1988 and they have had time to fix all the lil problems that people dont like and the cbr250 is new to 2011 so there hasnt been much feed back from customers but it all depends on you if you like the honda better than go for that but there both really nice bikes so its kinda hard u should test drive both and see witch one feels better to you then decide

Got my 2011 ninja 250 about 4 days ago. I love it. Cant say much about the CBR but all I know is that Kawasaki has been making there 250 since the 80's so you definitely cant go wrong there. Look forward to seeing which bike you pick.

ive got the 2011 ninja 250r, and ill tell you now, its a perfect bike, great seat height, its very affordable, and its light weight handling, if you like speeding, when the ninja250r get to about 8,000 RPM it takes off and goes hard. if it helps my rating of the ninja 250 is 10 stars.

@UltraSWG You must be a Honda fan, haha. Dude, I get 290mpg a tank. I think thats enough. I find the brakes to work great, they stop on a dime but i'm also 17 and only weigh 134. Handling wise the Ninja Is AMAZING, It can be flipped side to side so easily. As far as comfort that depends on what the riders looking for. The CBR is just a tad bit more upright. And fuel injection? Who cares. I like to be able to tune the carb.resale value on used gets yr money back possibly a couple hundred more

@UltraSWG Seems to have amazing performance to me especially for a 250. I was gonna get a zx6r but better riders start low.. It owns any bigger bike in twisties tho thats a plus.. aha. well i wouldnt know cbr250s arent even by me the honda dealer just doesnt want em. Kawi says 60mpg a gallon. 4.8 gallon tank. 60*4.8= 288. But most of the time I get 290. Last I heard cbrs struggle to get 60.. with its 3.4 gallon tank. But it just comes down to styling preference I guess cz they're equal.

I'm thinking of getting the CBR250R myself - The specs are similar enough to where the small HP advantage of the ninja isn't a huge negative against the honda. Also, I never really intend on taking my honda past 80mph, so that 6th gear performance of the ninja isn't something I need. The torque in the lower gears suits me well! I think I decided honda because I have had tremendous luck with their durability in the past and will buy based on that. GL on your decision!

ninja 250 definatly, dont waste your money on a honda 250r because you are going to outgrow the 250 and want a bike with more power. the 1 grand more is not worth the honda. Kawasaki is legendary for their 250 and other bikes.

@oMikeHawk No one picks a 250 for power and speed, so ignore those arguments. The Ninja is the same price as the Honda, but you get more on the Honda. The Honda is fuel injected, so you just hop on and go. The Ninja has carbs, which requires warm up time. The Honda has more torque, which makes it more usable in every day traffic. The Honda gets alot better gas mileage and the maintenance schedule is literally twice as long, so it will cost literally half as much to maintain.

the new cbr250 does seem a bit fancy, looking at the dyno charts for the both the ninja has more hp and tq than the cbr. we have a cbr250 at our main store but its for the techs to get accustomed to it so we cant ride it. i do own a '10 ninja 250r and i love it. i do have a 636 but for some reason i love the ninja250. its fast, very agile, and soooooo easy to ride. it can reach 115mph but thats running the hell out of it. can run all day @ 75-80 and wont hurt it. very smooth ride 2. i say ninja
