  • SGS or Beam? it depends on your priorities. The camera for Beam takes very sharp pictures and the videos are crisp. And with a flash, it thumps SGS in this department hands down.

Yes, the projector works like a charm in dark rooms! :D

So if these 2 aspects are cool to you, then Beam is the one.

Downside of Beam is 720MHz processor that is not as snappy as SGS. But in all fairness, it's still very usable. Demanding games like Assassin's Creed is sluggish while Let's Golf runs just fine.

  • @lalalanlance , thanks! yeah i get what ur saying...im leaning a bit towards the beam cause im not really worried about the speed in games or applications that much...BUT..what about browsing the net and how is the 384 ram? are they good , and last thing is how is the battery life on the beam?..without the projector on...better than the SGS? oh and will the beam be updated to the android 2.2? does it meet its requirments with its 740mhz and 384 ram?! thanks in advance!

  • hey there! i want to buy either the samsung galaxy s or the samsung beam. is there a noticeable difference in picture taking quality between the 5mp of galaxy s and the 8mp of beam?...and is there a difference of video quality? also how long does the projector playback video for? which do u think has is an overall better phone?! please reply! as i want to buy one of these 2. the most imp. Q: is the video quality from the projector REALLY good in dark rooms. like is it really clear and smooth.

  • it's funny coz i just tried the tinypic and it worked :S

think youtube disallow posting of direct url, so i don't what else i can do :(

  • @arun9986161113: please see my reply 1 day ago. i have already recommended it ;)

  • @UTUBEBROADCAST1: yes, imo it justifies the thickness. i was apprehensive about the Beam's size and weight at first too. however, after a few days of accustomising to it, it's not a big (pun not intended) deal at all. as a matter of fact, i'm starting to like the weightiness. makes me feel more manly lololol

with ATK in place, not much lag. my friend who is using the Motorola Droid, commented that although Beam processor is of similar specs, it feels much smoother and snappier than his phone.

  • @UTUBEBROADCAST1 the image is working. replace the (dot) with .

  • I'm disappointed with how the youtube video turned out.

Please refer to the below image for a rough idea of how bright the projected screen actually is closer to.

  • @lalalanlance Tinypic says image was removed?

  • Yes, I will definitely recommend the Beam.

It's been whole lots of fun for me.

But do be aware of the main drawbacks.

    1. thick and heavy compared to Galaxy S or ipwn4

    2. slower 800MHz/720MHz processor compared to the current generation of 1GHz smartphones. with ATK running, the lag is not much of a noticeable problem.

Other than these, it's all thumbs up from me. ;)

  • @lalalanlance Does the projector justify the thickness? Motorola Droid has a slower processor & didn't have significant lag when managed so I hope this (likely cost containment) decision for a slower processor is acceptable. Wonder how Samsung's Beam would run on the much faster Android 2.2 Froyo..

  • can you please tell me if its worth buying the Samsung Beam?
