So I go to the doctor with my ganglion cyst on my hand. They doctor tells me that it will take surgery to remove it and I would have to be off work from 4-6 weeks! I mentioned to him about people draining them on YouTube and he says, "Well I have a medical degree, they don't. I wouldn't recommend doing that."

I went home and took a sterile needle to my cyst and the jelly came out. It cost me $0.00 to do it. Surgery and be out 6 weeks or a free drainage at home? Hmmm...let's see now...

@demonstar0071 you'd be surprised how easy it is to use syringes after you've done it once. when i had to start intramuscular injections, i had a COMPLETE mental block - i simply froze once my hand got an inch from my thigh. but once i somehow managed to get that injection done once, it was no big deal.

of course, it REALLY helped that i had to get FOUR SPINAL TAPS over the course of 2 months. ever seen one? big needle into the spine, now to me it's no biggie at all, but at the time... ahh!

I closed my eyes when the doctor was draining my cyst on my left hand. Before the draining, the doctor used something to freeze the skin so I won't feel numb. I felt a small pinch. I was being a drama queen while holding my mom's hand and my dad turned around not to look at it. Once he showed us the fluid in the syringe, I looked at it and in my mind said "F***er! It's been 3 years I had you in my hand". Few months later, it came back and I had surgery. Now, my right hand has a small cyst. Crap!

yeah that kind of cyst isn't like others because there isnt really an infection. that wasn't really pus in the usual sense. more like a strange fluid build up thats much safer to touch. had one of these removed from my wrist after draining it didnt take. noticeable scar to remind me.
