  • I was only 9 at the time, and remember watching it on the telly very well. When the goal went in, me and my dad went mental, running around the room. Rumenigge (spelling?), Breitner...what a team that was. But we had the likes of Shaw and Withe, the most feared strike partnership in England at the time, Morley, arguably the best winger in England, Mortimer, the best captain Villa ever had, Sid pulling the strings, plus the rest. Happy happy days =) UTV, SOTC, VTID

  • I remember this match...Aston Vanilla only had one decent bloody chance.

  • @cuttlefisch And made the chance count?

  • @AVFCsi02 Well obviously.

  • Watching this reminds me why I love being a Villa fan...Up The Villa!!

  • Why didn't Peter Withe mention anything about nets?

  • please tell me if michael wuttke played here? do you know where is coash now?

  • I'm villa till I die, I'm villa till I die, I know I am I'm sure I am, I'm villa till I die!

  • Tony Morley won that trophy for us. Not just his contribution for the goal but his play throughout the entire tournament that year was immense.

  • BRILLIANT

  • Gives me goosebumps but how cam Peter withe not remember where it was?!?!

  • Villa got the result, whether deseved or not, but my recollection of that game was that Nigel Spink was the real hero, coming on after 10 minutes for only his second appearance in the first team and pulling off a string of great saves to keep Villa in the game. It was a fantastic achievement by Villa, and a career defining performance by Spink.

  • Peut-etre, personne ne peux le dire avec sécurité... mais cela n'empeche que cette victoire là a été vraiment volée à cause de l'aide scandaleuse de l'arbitre.

  • Peter Withe! Indonesia Manager 2005-2007 :)

  • I do... but you also need a pinch of luck to win.

  • You were not helped by the referee, but you were definitely lucky in my opinion. Anyway, opinions may differ. That was a golden time for the English footbal in the Champions League, but while Liverpool definitely won because it was the strongest team, to my mind, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa also had a lot of luck.

  • I don't think we are the biggest cheats, but I never said we never swindled... of course, there have been far less deserved victories than Aston Villa's, as I said Bayern in 1975 really stole the Champions' Cup from Leeds United.

  • I'm an Italian, but I'm not jealous at all: I remember that match very well, Bayern had several goal opportunities, Aston Villa only one: of course, to win a game you have to score and you also need some luck, but all in all it can be said that Aston Villa won without deserving it.

  • No, just objective... anyway, the final of 1975 between Bayer and Leeds was much more questionable, the English team was really ripped off.

  • @Michele640 Le bayern serait revenu au score, ils avait LE BUTEUR dans leur équipe

  • Aston Villa didn't deserve to win.

  • @Michele640 jealous

  • i dont think villa will ever get this title ever again

  • Credit to Villa, but I saw this match as a young boy and must tell that Villa will never ever get this luck again in the future, so one sided to B.Munich...

  • It was not offside!

  • When the European Cup actually MEANT SOMETHING unlike today when only certain teams win it.

  • Rotterdam 1982; greatest day in the history of Aston Villa F.C :-D

  • Amsterdam?! Sure it was Rotterdam!

  • DId he really say Amsterdam?

  • former indonesian head coach (2004 - 2006) and he found Boaz Solossa(indonesia best striker)

  • Even Aston Villa Won the big eared Cup Before intermilan!!!!! Congrats Villa!!!! This fact makes me honoured to be a MILAN fan!!!!
