Can we please end this foolish discussion about prophets and Mormons? There's only one way to Heaven. Jesus said:"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
Joseph Smith can't, and won't save you. Salvation belongs to our Lord, and our Lord alone. It is not my intention to offend anyone, but let's stick to what Jesus said about this. I hope to see you all in Heaven.
At least they did a tribute for Larry. And yes, Christian music is all about money to the companies that produce and turn out the music. Larry was not that way at all.
why is it that klove won't play Stonehill, keaggy or norman? because they only play the songs that are making tons of money for the labels and artists(third day and all the rest of the band of the week/singer of the week crowd) they could play a few of the pioneers in the course of the day but they never do. Shoot, I hear a few SHERRIE KEAGGY songs from time to time. She made a couple or three albums? This is phil's neice by marriage, and she still gets airplay on klove when PHil can't? play it.
Most of you wont be "Rawking with Larry on da otha side," because without works, none of you shall enter the celestial kingdom to be with Heavenly Father, because narrow is the road to salvation, its far narrower than anyone can imagine.
Chances are, if you think you're going to heaven, I can testify before you as my heart bares witness, most of you so-called "Christians" are not going to Heaven, but straight to Hell! What a shocking day it will be to find your name is NOT in the Book of Life!!
@Mormonites While faith without works is dead, (James 2:24) the mercy of God is not lost. For the thief next to Jesus on the cross had no time to drum up any works, and yet Jesus said, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." (Luke 23:43)
Your words are very judgmental. Have you checked your own eyes for planks lately? (Matthew 7:5)
@Mormonites "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:8-10
Not by works, not by works, not by works. What part don't you understand?
@Mormonites Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by GRACE are you saved through FAITH and that not of yourselves, it is a GIFT of God NOT of works lest any man should boast. " If you can good works yourself to heaven then Christ's death was for nothing. God required a perfect sacrifice and only Jesus, the God-man could make the sacrifice.
My good works speak for themselves according to the tenants of the One True Prophet, Joseph Smith, exactly as He foretold.
Clearly you're misinterpreting Christ's selfless act, and whatever it is you're talking about is debatable.
You're utter misinterpretation of scripture is what differentiates the one true religion of Mormonism with the wayward faith of Christianity and why our religions shall be forever be at odds with eachother on the most fundamental of levels.
@Mormonites I worship the one true Christ, I live by HIS words and those of His disciples and followers, not a prophet.
"8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!"
I will let the Bible the TRUE word of God,speak for itself
Glebe, what the heck are you talking about here? Larry may have had depression as would be expected from serious health issues & life events that would cause any one depression. Larry had health problems that eventually took him from us, & had a head injury from an accident on an airplane which caused memory loss which was trouble some to him. But he ate well, exercised, took vitamins & took care of himself as well as he knew how. He was not depressed, he was always on fire for Jesus, even in t
Good people can I say this. I am in noway judging Larry for his depression. There are countless people around today in the medical profession. That now have a good understanding of how when our body lacks certain minerals and nutrience. Some peoples bodies go haywire for the want of a better word. I have seen first hand with people who have suffered miled to cronic depression improve 10 fold when radically changing their diets, and take HIGH quality minerals and vitamins. Antidepressants DW
That was a sad and short tribute to the pioneer who opened many of the doors that todays GMA artists stepped through. Most of todays Christian artists have no idea what happened during the Jesus movement and how the music that accompanied it laid the foundation of what they do today.
Wow seeing this just brings tears to my eyes. I miss him so much. He should have had much more accolades while he was alive from the established church. Like Jesus however the church did not recognize him for what he was.
I've enjoyed Larry's music for decades. But I am sad by the "churchianity" treatment around the fact that, after helping launch Randy Stonehill's career, Randy's wife divorced him after falling in love and then "marrying" Larry. Where was the light of truthful treatment, of "Jesus People" honesty? And what are the future ripple effects in terms of legacy and witness to others? Nevertheless, what a gifted artist.
@brinkwerks: Sarah divorced Randy because the guy had some girlfriends on the side. She pleaded Randy to stay with her and stop this, but he just moved on. That's why they divorced, not because Larry was involved in any way. You can read letters between Sarah and Randy about the issue (original scans from Larry's archives) on failedangle.
I met Larry in 1999. I had met so many other "famous" Christian artists and was more often than not, disappointed in their insincereity and shallowness. When I met Larry, I was struck by his kindness and genuineness. I played guitar for him for 3 years, and he was the same guy off stage that he was on stage. I watched him give people money and food. He was the spokesman for the downtrodden. Larry once told me that the Christian music industry is not Christian. Larry eas like my dad. I miss him.
I too, knew Larry, but not as well as you. He played for a music concert ministry I was involved with in 1976 in Reading Pa, part of the Potter's House Coffeehouse MInistry. I remember those days vividly. Larry, the Rez band, Petra,(before they were stars) Randy Stonehill, Randy Matthews, Barry, Pau, Keith Green, Phil, and all the other brave souls who took the insults and mean spirited comments from the so-called Christian establishment.
Pure, unadulterated, absolute hypocrisy on the part of GMA. These people had no time for Larry Norman other than to criticize, scandalize, ostracize and shun him. "Christian" music is now no more Christian than the major labels are - all about making a buck. They couldn't have cared less about Larry when he was alive and so in need. I look forward to seeing Larry again; he never made any bones about being anything more than a human sinner that was the recipient of God's grace and Jesus' love.
@stephenrsharp I would think that Toby Mac and some other artists who really respected him pushed for it. Just a shame he couldn't get a standing ovation.
@TristanandIsolt Larry wasn't very liked in the "industry." He never intended to create the industry we have now. And he was very vocal about that belief. There is also the divide the GMA has shown with genres and styles. It took forever for them to recognize rock groups (namely Petra) and when they did it was too late. But if you are going to show respect to someone show respect don't blow the guy off. like this
@stephenrsharp Larry Norman knew his lot in life. He accepted it and stayed faithful to his calling to challenge the modern day Church and its message of condemnation and fear. It was not just those in the "Industry" who persecuted him. LM spoke of God's Grace and the importance of forgivness. I would like to belive that the presentation at the Dove awards was an attempt at reconciliation? If Larry was still on this earth do you think he'd care one way ot the other? "Forgiveness..."
@stephenrsharp I didn't know this though it doesn't surprise me given it was mostly gospel quartets then. Larry was my intro to Christian rock as a new Christian in the early 70's. I do want to take at least a bit of exception to your accusation that "Christian music is now no more Christian than the major labels are - all about making a buck."The labels maybe, but I strongly believe many of the artists, including Toby Mac truly seek to live godly lives.
@stephenrsharp After replying to you I came across a video of a young man and his mom who claim the boy, Daniel, is Larry's son. While I see pictures of her with Larry, that doesn't mean he was intimate with her. Doesn't mean he wasn't either. Larry refused to sign the birth certificate. What I know of him does not seem the kind of man who would deny it just to save his reputation. What can you tell me about this situation since Larry apparently didn't explain and he is not here to explain now.
@starshine428: A woman from Australia claims that her son is Larry's. In the past Larry has asked her 3 times to engage in a DNA test, which she refused. Larry did say something about this in the Blue Book.
Thanks for sharing. It's about time they recognized him. It was a decent, well done tribute. Larry's best tribute will be to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
This is such bullshit. Not because I don't like Larry, but the narration is silly.
