It can be a little distracting, but we started to use this song in worship at out church, so it didn't bother me. Bill is teaching Numbers 6:22-27. The song is the same put to music as done by the Bethel worship team/Jesus Culture "Light Of Your Face"
however it's like subtitles in a movie... you soon forget you're reading them when engrossed in it. SO my prayer is that you'd be so immersed in God's presence that this soundtrack wouldn't bother you so much. Watch out for the enemy who seeks to distract you
This is one of the best, most exciting teachings that I've ever heard. This just rocks me dad! If this doesn't excite you, check to see if you have a pulse.
Hebrews 6:2 ...Of the doctrine of baptisms (plural). I agree with how the early church interpreted eph 4:4-6, that is that it means "one baptism for the remission of sins" (see the Nicene creed-written in the fourth century). In other words, you get baptized ONE time, and when you sin again you don't have to get re-baptized. All I did was give references to different types of baptisms, how is that distortion? Out of all those I listed, which one is the ONE referred to in Ephesians?
There is also 3.the baptism into the body of Christ which is performed by the Holy Spirit(1Co12:13), 4.the baptism of suffering which is performed by persecuters(mrk10:38), 5.the baptism of fire, which is described as distinctly different than that of the Holy Spirit(Lk3:16), and 6.the baptism of repentance by John the baptist(Act19:4) , and 7.the baptism of the Word performed also by Jesus(Eph5:26). that makes seven in all which were typified by Naaman who dunked in the Jordan 7 times(2kgs5:10)
There are two baptisms that the Bible talks about.. 1. Water baptism, which John performed. 2. Baptism of fire and the Holy Spirit, which Jesus performed. The water baptism has an important role, since John "prepared the way" for Jesus with it, and it's about remissions of sin. But the baptism of the Holy Spirit is actually the Spirit of God coming onto you, resting in you, working through you (which you don't need to be in water for)! How great it is! God bless all of you in everything.
Baptizing them in the N_A_M_E, not names. That word name in Matt. 28 is the greek word "onoma " which means (literally or figuratively),authority, character.
The character of the Father to love, the character of the Son to serve, and the character of the Holy Spirit to empower. HIS GREAT NAME!
Jesus is the Son of God. If you look in Matthew 28 Jesus commanded His disciples to baptise in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit. And to baptise you must be fully immersed in water, because the word baptise means complete immersion...
exactly where do they baptize in the name of the Father Son and Holy Ghost in Acts? It's not Acts 2 or Acts 8 or Acts 10 or Acts 16 or Acts 19 those are the five places where baptism is recorded. Look that up for me or ask your pastor I'm interested to see where the apostles baptized in any other name than JESUS.
I my church when we water baptize someone we make sure they get fully submerged in water (because the root word of baptism is "baptizo" which means to be fully submerged) and we baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy spirit, and in to the name of the Lord jesus Christ. If you notice in the book of acts, the apostles at times are recorded baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and at other times they say "into the name of the Lord Jesus Christ". So say do both.
Am I the only one put off by the music in the background?
