We often want change from others but we won't see it happen until we change some of the things about ourselves that could be offending to others. In 2008, over 90% Blacks voted for Obama. If US is the nation casting vote based on color of skin, Obama could never become a president since Blacks are only about 12% of population. @xoxak888 Black votes are not fixed but in 1972 The Republican Party made a calculated decision to no longer seek the African American vote, and to run campaigns demonizing blacks and other minorities so they could scare white people to the polls! It should be no surprise that most blacks don't vote for Republicans. The U.S. basically runs the global economy, and the dollar is a huge part of it. Sure if trends continue, maybe in half a century the U.S. will have to pay for it's irresponsibility if things don't change, and if american politics remains split in two.
But it's not going to happen no where near as quickly as your saying, your spouting doomsday prophecy and not researching the facts. The United States is more solvent than any other nation at this time.
Raising corporate taxes and on those making over 150,000 dollars back to the level during the Clinton years would be the right thing to do, the increased revenue, and allowing the rich to pay their fair share of the taxes would take a huge weight off the shoulders of the common wage earner, spurring spending, and in turn giving fuel the economy needs to grow. Just slashing education and environmental regulatory funds won't make even the slightest dent in the deficit.
We had it far far more worse in the Great Depression, the economic downturn we're having now, is a natural part of the boom and bust cycle, that has been intensified over the last century. The economy right now is just beginning to crawl out of the hole, and the unemployment rate just hit below 9%. Sure there needs to be financial reform NOW and there needs to be a tax increase/ budget slashing NOW. The United States is sick, but she's doing just fine.
I do understand, the federal reserve has been just printing money to keep the economy from teetering over the edge. These are critical times, I completely understand that the slightest easing off spending would gravely hurt the growth of the economy. But there are ways to rein in spending an take out huge chunks of America's deficit at the same time.
Stopping the police actions and nation building in the middle east is a HUGE step in the right direction for one.

Yh that not exactly how the French system works, you'll actually find that the employement benefits you are discussing are reachable after a minimum of 40 years working, which actually only represents 5% of the working population. You'll also find that the "general" retiremenent age has been pushed back to 67 to receive a full pension since last year.

First off, we've created an UNJAILABLE class of citizens who, other than Bernie Madoff, won't be subject to prosecution by anyone for anything. Bottom line and looking at this objectively, the comments, cartoons, etc. made about Obama definitely cross the line. Nothing wrong with disagreeing politically, but these comments and actions exceed the subject of politics and enter the ugly arena of racism, and that just should not happen. Period.

I was under the impression that an 'interview' was where an impartial jurno asked questions and listen to the answers. We the viewers were then allowed to judge the person based on the strength of their argument. (I'm not American but feel this next statement is true in both our countries) It is important to the health of a nation that politions of all stripes are allowed to express oppinions that are more than half a sentance in length. AND get them reported.

The United States has the largest economy, the greatest about of capital and wealth, it will take china 10-20 YEARS before their economy even matches ours let alone surpass it. The right wing's Obama Doomsday scenarios are just scaring people for political gain, not in the purpose of educating nor informing them correctly.

The U.S. basically runs the global economy, and the dollar is a huge part of it. Sure if trends continue, maybe in half a century the U.S. will have to pay for it's irresponsibility if things don't change, and if american politics remains split in two.
But it's not going to happen no where near as quickly as your saying, your spouting doomsday prophecy and not researching the facts. The United States is more solvent than any other nation at this time.

Raising corporate taxes and on those making over 150,000 dollars back to the level during the Clinton years would be the right thing to do, the increased revenue, and allowing the rich to pay their fair share of the taxes would take a huge weight off the shoulders of the common wage earner, spurring spending, and in turn giving fuel the economy needs to grow. Just slashing education and environmental regulatory funds won't make even the slightest dent in the deficit.

We had it far far more worse in the Great Depression, the economic downturn we're having now, is a natural part of the boom and bust cycle, that has been intensified over the last century. The economy right now is just beginning to crawl out of the hole, and the unemployment rate just hit below 9%. Sure there needs to be financial reform NOW and there needs to be a tax increase/ budget slashing NOW. The United States is sick, but she's doing just fine.
Things will work out.

I do understand, the federal reserve has been just printing money to keep the economy from teetering over the edge. These are critical times, I completely understand that the slightest easing off spending would gravely hurt the growth of the economy. But there are ways to rein in spending an take out huge chunks of America's deficit at the same time.
Stopping the police actions and nation building in the middle east is a HUGE step in the right direction for one.
