  • Why are people excited for windows phone.

No matter what you do, the ovi store will always be small, and the UI for WP7 sucks.

Sure it will save costs, but most of the consumers like me will suffer

  • Interviewer needs some lessons on how to be a bit more confident while interviewing.

  • stephen elop has something in his eyes that just makes him look reasonable bright like he sees alot and doesn't miss much, those r the kind of eyes that i wanna have.

  • I have used Nokia for years, mainly due to its simplicity and small form factor.Elop should not be drawn into the demands of a few customers who demand overloaded, chunky, battery consuming phones.Besides, the main user base for Nokia has always been the masses.I once bought a smartphone and returned it after 1 week of use,the internet will never work well on small tiny screens

  • @goldenboyi1989 Sorry but significant segments of the marketplace disagree. Admittedly many people just want basic functionality and/or can't be bothered with fussing on a smaller device. The biggest issue is that content deliverers have not yet implemented a successful interface that recognizes the limitations that go with the mobile opportunity. Plenty of people like real time access to content that they own and/or is of interest to them. From my observations, Elop gets it.

  • WP7 FTW. Nokia CEO is a genius.

  • At least Elop isn't saying that they are dumping MeeGo for good. If the problem was that they needed a decent OS asap, W7 is not really solving it if they "hope to see it this year". If it's Windows now, MeeGo maybe later - Why not Android now and MeeGo later, they are both Linux and thus easier to port apps to another.

I hope MS is paying billions (as Elop has hinted), otherwise this wouldn't make sense for Nokia.

  • @tthuhta Just because both are linux doesn't mean porting is easy; Android's stack is completely different and Java based, MeeGo is more flexible with what programming languages you can use, and uses a different software stack.

  • Nokia CEO is an idiot to not see the dominance of android

  • really good interview! keep it up! topic: i really doubt that Microsoft is taking as much risk as nokia does.... this is nokias last resort to stabilize their business and get a perspective in the mobile devices market. overall the competition ist tough...good for the consumer, bad for the supplier --> buyers market =)

  • doesn't matter for me, if elop is 1st or 7th stockholder.

    i love the idea.

  • Well its good chris took the high road, very professional... So we can take the low road in the comments. Mole, Mole, Mole!

  • he answered the questions very well...

  • his hands are really busy in this video!

  • @AppleinfoExpert the worst company since the "changing point" in the world of smart phones when the iPhone was released. Before that Nokia's phones were the most full featured phones out there, and had always been, up until that point. But since the iPhone was released they haven't changed anything, when they desperately needed to, until now. It'll be interesting to see what happens, and no I'm not a Nokia-fan, I've been using Sony Ericsson, and recently switched to an HTC Android phone.

  • android

  • Dammed iPhone auto correct! I meant: "Elop talks".

  • Elope take the good talk, and I like what I see and hear. We'll just have to see if he can make good on his ideas.
