  • Reminds me of the Mario Brothers theme song.

  • Fucking Groovy ,i like it ^^

  • A+ Funk Rhythm Guitar Playing! Tomo, you are an inspiration :)

  • @jenkkarenkka thank you!

  • Really good groove...

  • Tomo you are damn gooooood!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hello Tomo,

What kind of play is that at 0:07 and 0:15?

How can I learn that technique?

If you have source please let me know!

    You are AWESOME guitar player!

    Thank you!

  • Hey Tomo, I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. I've seen you playing a "JM strat", but not the signature model. Reason I put it in quotes is because I know that John's signature guitar looks exactly the same, but the trem bridge is set for righties, and the one I've seen you play has the trem set up for lefties, like SRV's signature is. My question is, did you change out the pickguard like John did? Or did he get it from you? Or, did Fender make them like that at first?

  • Hey Tomo, I just have a gear question since you own a JM Strat. I own the same one and love it but I just have a few problems with it. One is, when I play it without an amp, there are some fretbuzz on the 3-6th strings. I've tilted the neck slightly and it made it better a little bit but it is still there. Also, on the low E string, when I pass the 12th fret, I hear a overtone that is slightly flatter than the note I am playing. I don't think it's an intonation thing since I've fixed it already.

  • @jmfan92 Sorry for asking you such a long question, but it'd be great if you did a tutorial on how to setup your guitar. Thanks!

  • D'Addario 10-46.

  • what strings and gauge are you using ?

  • why would anyone want to dislike this ? ? ? :s

  • funky!

  • whats the Name of the technique at 00:07 ?

  • Tomo sensei, did u use ur thumb to fret the notes on the low E and A string around the 0:52 mark? i've been trying to get the "thumb over" technique right to do hendrix style.. and also i think its more comfortable to do barre chords like that.

kinda hard when my fingers are kinda short. shucks.

    awesome playing though, tomo!

  • @ZehnixII I use my thumb for clean muting. I think you should try both ways. If you feel something comfortable.. then find other side too. You should keep your thumb moving etc. It's not easy so that's why it's fun to make more efforts.

    Tomo

  • nice playing..now turn the freaking amp on lol...while im sure its on, it sounds like its not on...boost the volume mate.

  • Waah that is really really funky !!!

    I like it :p

Technical and musical mixed with a groove ! Great !!!

    Tomo

  • Hey Tomo I have a question. Do you know anything about the Black One replica strat thats going to come out. Cause I am thinking about getting the JM Sig for christmas but I am afraid the Black One will come out and maybe I will like it better. But, I heard other than the expensive CS one the only other is a MIM NOS and I would rather buy the JM Sig than a MIM.??? Thanks!

  • I know a little about that. Contact Guitar Center ask this question and ask them to contact Fender. So you know official correct information. Hope this helps. Thanks.

    Tomo

  • I have been using Pickboy Vintage Classic 1mm. Best for all styles.

    Tomo

  • James Brown did an instrumental version of this song sometime around 1967. I don't think James wrote it though. I'm not sure. Do you know, Tomo?

    Tomo

  • It's a very good rythm exercice, but I can't do it this well, I need a drummer LOL

  • You can practice with a metronome. set on 2&4 and imagine.. as if you are playing with your favorite drummer. and record it. answer is there!

    Tomo

  • Thanks ;o)

  • I really like the use of the rake. It sounds like a really fast triplet strum. I noticed you're using a pick in this, but in other vids, namely the funk jam with the berklee faculty, you're not and you still get this machine gun sounding strumming. That's really, really, cool and I wish I could figure that trick out! I'm asking for your books for christmas! lol

  • Thank you very much! I have been doing this since I was 18!

Please get my AYGP dvds from Hal Leonard. Enjoy!

    Tomo

  • thanks for getting that up so quickly tomo, i'll be sure to come to one of your office hours next semester to show you when i get that rhythm down :)

  • You're welcome! You did great job capturing this. Please come by my office hours... ask any questions. We will... Learn soloing ideas from last lesson too. Triads, WHdim...etc.
