Even though highly calligraphed characters are very beautiful, they take forever to interpret, at least for me...
You can look at one character for minutes on end before you get any clue as to what it means. I guess it´s a matter of practice, but for one who is just getting into the whole chinese / japanese writing concepts, remembering each symbols meaning and components is enough in its own right.
I do hope to be this skilled in the art of calligraphy one day though...
It must be because of the thoughts put into decisions of where to place or trace the next strokes since they are not the same as those found in everyday's writing.

As a writer, i prefer the English language but aesthetically Chinese and Arabic writing is stunning.
