Great job on this - excellent arrangement and so nicely done. I sing it too. It seemed a bit short, so I added a 4th verse . (hope no one is offended -- please see it as a messy part of 'folk tradition' to do things like that)

Oh I been savin' up me wages
and when this job is done
I'll make me way to Glasgow, find meself a little fun
come find me down on Hope Street
we'll set down for a jar
and stumble out into the night to find the Scotia Bar

Great job on this - excellent arrangement and so nicely done. I sing it too. A few years ago I went to Milngavie to see the water and the stonework at the song's setting - quite a place
@Pickhandle If you're in St. John's, NL, on August 6, 2011, I'm playing at the Folk Festival. Other than that, I play with the Irish Descendants usually.
I heard him play this song last night at an Irish Descendants concert in Toronto. It was the song that I remembered most from the evening and I was sad to discover it isn't on one of their albums, but then I found this! Thank you! A new favourite.
@folkmusicgirl I should have replied to your post earlier. I do have a solo CD that includes this song. The album is called The Whistling Thief and it's on iTunes. I always forget to promote myself!
Well...I met you in Edmonton at the pub, and I love the cd I bought from you. You are simply amazing! Come back anytime!

I love how happy the pennywhistle-playing you looks when he sings... or you sing... you know what I mean.
