  • Beautiful (and quirky looking) plane! And that YS sounds awesome! I have one, used, about to run it on a 70" Revolver. What kind of muffler are you using?

  • Gee Bee's hate to land.

  • Nice flight Topmenace , I've got a YS120sc in my cmp Gee Bee r2 as well . Great motor! It's also on youtube . Type in search Gee Bee r2 p40

  • question can you put a small camra on that plain. i know of someone who put it on his radio helecopter and shoot land for people and makes prety good money. he also does this for electric companys. just as an idea.

  • its very nice, what engine is that? did you put right trust on the engine?

  • Nice planes - Nice Videos-Great sound...

acctually I'm looking for Yamada pilots with scale enthusiasm.

  • Thanks flyerbeyer.

The YS brand engines are about all I use.

I just tested an old 120 SC that I overhauled a few months ago. I blew the con rod in a similar 120 SC that I have been flying for 13 years. I guess I used that one up. So now it's time to do another overhaul.

  • Nice! I've been flying the Gee Bee on the Great Planes RF simulator. Have you done that, and do they fly about the same? The Sim version flies really well.

  • The real model actually flies great as you can see. It's just a bit more demanding than some other planes to make a "pretty" landing.

The simulator will aid in visual references for this plane. But not so much in the actual feel of how the real model performs.

  • I thought that the "bounce Landings" was attributed to a tail heavy plane?

  • Nope not quite so.

A nose heavy model, depending on the landing gear configuration is more prone to get into a situation where it bounces and tries to nose over. The only reason this one behaved the way it does is because of the stiff and springy landing gear wires.

  • any tips for landing? i got one for my self but i've heard that the landings are extreme difficult

    great video!

    thanks

  • nice plane, would their be enough room for a gasoline engine in one of those?

    landing was a bit bouncy

  • There is enough room for just about any model plane engine, within reason.

The bouncy landings are minimized when you add the robo-struts to the main gear.

  • congratulations for you flight and landing performance! I just had my maiden flight with my great planes geebee. I use a 1.2 kw brushless motor and 3300mAh lipos (10s). Where did you get these robo-struts?

  • Thanks, I didn't have the robostruts on that Gee Bee.

You are going to need to look around on RCU or RC Groups or on e-bay to find them.

  • So, are you saying robart no longer makes the robosrtuts for the Gee Bee? I was thinking of purchasing this plane but would definitely opt for the robostruts.
