  • bob willis = BELL END

  • what kepler wessels is doing in an ashes test????????? he is south african...

  • Good old Bob Willis!

England still haven't managed to replace him even after 25 years.

  • yeah i cant understand why we have all these great cricketing brains in the sky studio telling us whats wrong with the adminastration of the england team. Dont tell us!!,get in there and sort it out. Who the f*ck is Hugh Morris, fair enough he had a cracking FC record but he only played 3 tests and David Graveney didnt play any tests.

  • This is certainly not the bustling-in Bob Willis that we normally see.. maybe he was carrying an injury.

    Still too good for Wessels.

  • @Imrankniazi Willis altered his run up after the 1982 summer in an attempt to prolong his career. This was a more controlled, straighter approach run up that afforded him more control as his feet (almost) always landed in the same place, unlike the two earlier versions.

  • @Imrankniazi Bear in mind as well that he bowled the last nine years of his career in near-constant pain, having had multiple knee operations in 1974-5. That's what prompted him to bowl down the Lords slope in '81 when he took 8-43. So in a sense he was always carrying an injury.

  • Willis is a true great. He ranks alongside Botham and Gower as inspirational to young kids like me back in the eighties.

It is very interesting that Willis,Gower and Botham never got a look in when it came to getting on the selection team for England yet mediocre performers like Geoff Miller and David Graveney do.

Its a sad fact of life that you have to kiss arse to succeed.

Mind you im sure that Bob and co enjoy working for sky and have earned the right to slag players off.

  • WTF! Kepler played for Australia? no way!

  • @Sir2ube and @Sourav575 - Check the date, guys! 1982-83 Ashes series was the first test cricket Kepler Wessles played and I got to see his debut at the Gabba where he made 162. Kepler lived in Australia and played for Queensland for about 4 years to qualify to play test cricket here as South Africa were banned from international cricket in 1970 because of apartheid. He retired from Australian cricket in 1985/86, but came out of the woodwork when SA came back to international cricket in 1991.

  • Willis got better with age. Harmisson declines with age. All the great fast bowlers develop into intelligent bowlers with many strings their bow than the short fast delivery. Hoggard had great variety and also had the knack of knocking over opening batsmen something sadley lacking with Anderson and harmisson...

  • he said he left aus because he felt that the ACB were thinking that he was behind in the planing of the redal tours of south africa in the 1980's.

  • Dunno why he moved to South Africa from Australia

  • LOL he moved from south africa to australia because SA was banned from international cricket, then he moved back when the ban was lifted.

  • 7df32mm5 He is a lefthand batsman dumbass.Get to know cricket before you make comments

  • ehm....7df32mm5 made a good point there, I think you need to take some reading class.

His front-foot is pointing towards the OFFSIDE(!) for a left hander, though his stance should've been open (for the way Willis is bowling)

  • Hey is That the real Bob? Big BoB?

  • darren gough world class? no way.. simon jones, 1 good series, not exactly a credible base for comparison .. caddick LOL get real .. flintoff .. touch and go .. over all his career record is poor .. harmison .. pile of dog shit ..

theres still time left for flintoff, harmison and jones to finish the game with respectable records but i dont expect any of them to finish with a record like Bobs .. they'll be lucky to end up with an average of 30

  • I can agree with you on Harmison and Flintoff. Jones it is hard to judge, anyone who obliterated the worlds best batting line up (Australia) must be very good, but hes been injured ever since. Gough was definatley world class though look at his stats especially considering he never really had much support. A cas could be made for Caddick to when he was on form.

  • Englands last world class bowler??? Darren gough, Simon Jones, Andrew Caddick, Andrew Flitnoff, Harmison (in Britain only)

  • Harmison's best performance (7 for 12) was in the Caribbean, but you're right he hasn't done much overseas since.

  • haha look at him.. facing the offside when willis bowling over the wicket.. n00b saffer

  • Bob Willis didn't seem to steam in as much as he normally would here, perhaps he was carrying an injury.

  • I seem to recall during this series did Willis manage to expose a weakness in Wessels' technique on the leg stump - this clip portrays it perfectly

  • did you notice how his back foot backs away towards fine leg before the ball is bowled? There lies the root of the problem...

  • England won by 3 runs in a dramatic finish.

  • Nice Post!
