i like to look at the A380 as a "prototype" of what is to come. look at the old short B747-200. looks disproportionate with the wings and tail. that's because they planned it to get much bigger. i'll wager EADS has the same thing in mind with the A380...

case in point, look at how the A340 evolved. the 600 series is now the longest airliner by 3m. awesome!

Poor fuel economy??yeah the first 747,s with the early jt9d,s were not fuelefficient enough due a lot of problems with the engines and overweight but the -400 is a very fuelefficient plane!Sure the -8 will be much better...
