I haven't seen any of the nominees here, but I do agree that I think The Young Victoria will win here. Never bet against the corsets, it seems. Though maybe Nine could surprise here. I was actually surprised Sherlock Holmes and Inglourious Basterds didn't get in here, one being a British-set period piece and the other consisting of Nazi uniforms, though I guess those aren't hard to get a hold of.
Looking forward to the Animated Feature analysis.
Inglorious Basterds was snubbed. the costumes were awesome!

THANK YOU for your words about Bright Star. I'm SO disgusted by how the film was forgotten/snubbed.

Great analysis. Sandy Powell is a big player, but so is Colleen Atwood.
Yes, British costumes typically win.
But Sandy Powell doesn't really delve into this aristocratic costume stuff as much as others in the field. So i'm not sure she's a lock just yet.
On the other hand, Colleen - Marshall efforts have Never lost for Costume Design. (Chicago, Geisha) So, your wish may come true after all.
I will analyze the competition those two movies had in their respective years.
