This video is stupid...it was a clean hit though its America we play American style hockey, not that European bullshit. If someone is skating at you getting ready to hit you then you have every right to hit him, the rules dont say you have to sit there and take a hit because you have the puck and he doesn't.
@Glorin You gain "position" in order to gain "possession". You need to gain position on the opposing player in order to "execute" possession. I understand what you are saying but the term "position" applies to different facets of the game. You can passively get possession by receiving a pass, or yo can actively get possession by physically positioning yourself to gain an advantage in order to take the puck.
He looks like hes going to be a good hockey player! Hes already keeping his head up and watching where other players are. Now just teach him to use his shoulder and not his elbow haha
wow, he actually had good form on that hit! he even had a pretty good follow through and it looked like good contact with the shoulder. It really looks like an NHL headshot in a slower pace and mini - mode. He's gonna be a bruiser
@rp1986 What????? Yes, it's called getting "position" on the puck. Possession (2 s's not 1) is the goal, but in order to get possession, a player must first get "position" on his opponent. I AM Canadian and also a nationally certified Coach BTW. And you're right, most Mothers "know nothing" about hockey. Obviously you're one of them, so hopefully, I've taught you something about our game here today.
The Americans did something like that for their TV viewing audience in the late 90's I think it was....time flies so ya know...a blue streak behind the puck indicated a pass and a red streak behind the puck indicated a shot. We Canadians thought it was the stupidest thing we'd ever seen...lol. Not implying your stupid Will, don't get me wrong here...
Typical Canadian I am, eh! Apologizin'. I should make a Canadian reggae song call it "Apologizin' eh man!"
@snoglobe68 I remember that, I found it annoying as an American hockey fan as well. The only time I liked it was on big scrambles to have some idea where the puck is, or when it was along the near boards from the Broadcast angle and you lose sight of it as an audience, it would glow through the boards. It was done to make the sport easier to watch for people not familiar with the sport.
Even at levels where you can check, that's still interference. The little man stopped going for the puck, and slowed down just to make the hit. While it was a fun hit to watch, it wouldn't be legal in any league :)
jeez. im 14 and im scared of him! let me tell u something sir. ive been playing for 9 years now...(5 years of travel)and if ur son keeps playing he'll be playing travel in no time. Good luck
Hahaha. thanks man. He's been keeping it pretty cool lately. A little body contact here and there but he knows I'm watching him. He's having a blast and I'll be sure to keep it that way for him.
Notice after the hit my son stayed on one knee for a few seconds cause he thought he'd get in trouble from the ref. He knew he wasn't suppose to hit the kid but he said he thought it was what he was suppose to do. Of course I told him it was the wrong thing to do at his age level but when he hits PeeWee go nuts little dude!
omg Glorin is right!

Real rules would have put your son in the penalty box for interference.
But most mothers know nothing about hockey to begin with. All it looked like was a collision.
PS - It's "posession" of the puck. Not "position"
You from the states?
