My right hand works the top of the Alto. I decided to adapt new names to the available Alto keys. Now I call the Alto's "B" an E, the Alto A is now D, Alto's G is now C, Alto's C is now F, Alto's C# is now F#, Alto's palm D is now G, etc. When I want a C chord (for my tenor), I can easily decide which two notes to play: Tenor's C with Alto's [new] E (or Eb), tenor's G with Alto's [new] E (or Eb), tenor A/alto's C, tenor Bb/Alto E, etc. in both octaves! No more transposing or guessing. Try it
In order to make more harmony in 3rds with the Tenor, I added a two "spatula keys" system on the Alto for the right pinky, to close: F & F# in the Alto's lower stack. This is the equivalent of Bb & B relative to the Tenor's G. It permits harmony in 3rds throughout the Tenors range from G up. Examine Roland Kirk's videos; you will see similar 'extra' key work on his horns to achieve more range and/or better harmony . Some see this as cheating. I see it as FUN! thanks :)
You refused to play polyphone.

The second key plate on the alto to hit the notes on the low end with one hand was a genius idea!
