the melody is very beautifu like Italocrema said. But this move should have never been created. Orcas are gentle loving creatures. That are forced to use viloence because of the stupid things people do. Just saying.
In the novel, the main human's name was Campbell while in the movie, he's called Nolan. In the book, Annie is Campbell's sister. Also, in the novel, the townsfolks riot and almost lynch Campbell's party. Al Swain was the constable, not the mayor. They force a French boatyard owner to accompany Campbell on the final hunt for the Orca.
Every time I listen to this.... it painfully reminds me of a promise I made to someone that I had once loved and lost they pasted away. I made a promise that the day I returned to the UK.. is the day that I would buy their favorite flowers, and place them at the base of the tree we used to spend time at together.. and I never go back on my word... but when I listen to this music... I can not prevent myself from breaking one promise that I swore I wouldn't do... to cry without end all night
I caught this movie late at night one time, and was taken by surprise not only by the stunning music, but the multilayered performance by Richard Harris. I expected to hate him, but you end up sympathizing with him almost more than the killer whale. The ending was therefore depressing in two ways :) It's not a great movie (the script could have been cleaned up a bit), but it was better than I expected.
@HenryvKeiper Yes i could not agree more. I thought of purchasing this at one time a few years back and today while i was at Big Lots i spotted a copy for 3 bucks. I cant wait to watch it again i saw it at the movie theater years back.
Wow, the connection seam in that model is extremely visible. You would think that they could have found SOMETHING, anything, that would have at least made it not so obvious.
This movie so much reminds me of my youth. As a young child, I watched this movie. I loved it, and still do. The soundtrack is beautiful....What a classic!!!

I obviously am for not accepting that a killer whale knows how to blow things up, can set military style ambushes, and understands abstract concepts like revenge. All because Charlotte Rampling told me so.
I think the movie is a lame duck. Still love the music though.
Hey, maybe they couldn't do all the things that they did in the movie, but there are scientists out there that say of all of all the animals in the world the killer whale is the most intelligent animal in the world. And it is science fact that they use sonar to hunt for food and the killer whale gets to the food they are hunting for before the fisherman does and they have manmade sonar built onto their ships. So I think that is pretty ingenious of the killer whale.
Yeah the music is typically too brilliant for a seemingly daft film like this!
Though I have to say that it mightn't be so stupid as we'd initially think. I reckon its more to do with people; the study of people, as opposed to Orcas. Don't forget to take into account the time it was made too lol.
i believe that [what goes around comes around] spit on me, ill spit right back on you! .

Anyone here read the novel by Arthur Herzog? As a kid, I read it before seeing the movie.
