This is such a bad movie. Snot nose criminals getting their own command, a villain so dumb that he makes Bevies and Butthead look like Steven Hawking, a teacher sleeping with a student does not tolerate otherstudents cheating on a no win test (It's Frank Burns from M.A.S.H.!), a super ship that can't take one tinny ship hitting it but can wipe out 2 armadas & Black holes that suck in everything but spits out ships into the past then just disappear. People actually like this shit?!

I personally am a die hard Roddenberry fan, I think most of 6th and 7th TNG,& all of DS9,Voyager,Enterprise,all movies after Undiscovered Country...are trash.Innovation that has led Star Trek continuity astray.That being said, this movie looks FANTASTIC.I love how in trailer #3 they start to focus on the Kirk identity, and why he is such a cultural icon. Abrams is going to breathe life back into Trek, and put it back on the map. Here's hoping it tops Dark Knight's opening weekend record.

Voyager and Enterprise were ok, l'm hoping Paramount will bring back Enterprise with the success of the new movie

Star Trek VI wasn't the last good movie, Generations was ok- Kirk's death and the plot holes with the Nexus were bad but the movie was ok overall and First Contact is a very good movie

1. It's an odd numbered movie. (This has always been a big thing with Star Trek movies. The even numbered ones do good, and the odd numbered ones do bad.)

2. Many fans may not like the fact that someone new has come and messed with their show, even IF it's an improvement.

3. The Star Trek Stigma. (It's to the point that it's almost embarrassing to just tell someone that you like Star Trek. As soon as you say anything, people picture a bunch of nerds in costumes at a Star Trek convention.)

Pro's:

1. Star trek has a wide fan base. (Although, this seemed to do little for Nemesis.)

2. J.J. Abrams. (Fans of J.J. Abrams will be attracted to the movie. Plus, he has tried to make it appeal to a wide audience, and he's worked to rid it of the stigma of being a Star Trek and the stereotype of trekkies.)

3. New actors may give new depth to the characters.

4. It's time travel. (That's a personal favorite. I love complex and time travel stories.)
