  • That's a lot of power!! My 99 Solara v6 engine makes less than that! And it's a 1999.

  • @jdmsai1 thanks! it's not a lot, but it makes the car reasonable into the 14s now. fun to autocross.

  • Pretty Good power :-) , I also have a 7MGE, basically stock, and have no intention of getting a turbo engine, glad to see a well built 7mge, I'm not obsessed with power at all, I'm more of a suspension-chassis-lightness kind of guy, though a bit of extra power later on would be nice, ideally I'd love itb's, headers, and fully programmable ecu... 200+@wheels possible you think? Maybe add a port-polished head, with better valve springs and mild cams... cams are expensive though :-/ ... Thoughts?

  • Are you still running stock cams? I looked at your other video with the list of parts and I didn't see it.

  • @jmukill yes, stock

  • @TireShredder Have you thought about upgrading them?

  • sup dewd, saw ur build on celicasupra forums, im eventually gona swap a 7m into my 83 cressida 5 speed. i heard that with wiegh reduction mods you can get mk2 and x63 cressidas down to 2600 pounds. Whats your current 0-60 and quarter mile? high 14's?

  • @EmX3Ed 14.8 at 93.75 was my best, before tuning and a new clutch. I haven't been able to do better than that. 2.1 60ft

  • pretty good på a normaly aspirated :) why did'nt you put a 1jz turbo in it? :)

  • @bbaraliaam money

  • The higher revving 7M with a lower stroke but combined with dual overhead cams will make more up top due to the amount of airflow in and out, and also the speed of that airflow. The reason my jeep makes lower hp is because the longer stroke, while adding more torque lower in the rpms takes longer up and down to complete a stroke and somewhat delaying the amount of air/gas it can combust and evacuate.

  • The 7m makes max torque and power higher up in the rpm range, just where it needs it.

  • However our long stroke motors are for towing and make max torque and power between 2200-3500 rpm

  • Very healthy engine! In this car it is about all the power you need for a daily. LOL at the guy that thinks this is bad for a N/A I6 My '99 Cherokee 4.0 HO only puts about 165hp and 200lbs/ft Fords strongest 4.1 only made 165hp,and these are flywheel figures. The 7M here is probably older than I am and much older than my Jeep. The other factor to this though is what the original motors are made to be put in, the Ford made almost 230lbs/ft and my jeep will make way more tq with exhaust

  • Great work keeping it NA. Sounds sweet!

  • 189hp??? out of a 6?? what!!! isnt that like bad??

  • @91cannibal they make around 170whp from the factory

  • @TireShredder 200hp turbo modle makes 230

  • @Nyfighter16 yes

  • those are farkin healthy numbers

  • thats weak dude

  • @johngorgis

not for a non-turbo supra motor it isn't. especially on the budget.

  • around 10.3:1

flywheel, yup..should be around there! I may have a new dyno in another month or so....may pick up a couple horsepower.

  • Whats your compression at? must be puttin atleast 220-230 at the crank

  • @EmX3Ed 10.3:1

  • @TireShredder any future nitrous mods? got ITB's?

  • @EmX3Ed perhaps camshafts. The engine is currently at the best hp/dollar ratio possible. I may upgrade the camshafts just to see what it's capable of.

My current plans are to run this engine till it dies (should be a very long time) and swap in a major upgrade with forced induction.

  • @TireShredder BOOOOOOOST IT!!!

  • @tienshenhan86 too much compression! wrong electronics... just the wrong motor in general to do it to, considering the 7mgte has the "right" parts on it already.

I started this project with theintention of leaving it NA, and saving cash for a proper turbo build in the future. this is something great I can put miles on with low maintenance until that point. everything was done on the cheap, but without cutting corners. i've had 40,000km or reliable running on this motor so far!

  • Didn't realize you had the dyno on youtube! nice job man! Alex

  • Im about ot buy an 84 supra, I was plannin on taking out the 5m and doing a 7M-GTE or even a 1JZ-GTE swap.. Does that 7M bolt right up to the 5M trranny? I know theyre the same just different years. Just looking on some insight.

  • the w58 transmission can be used with the 7mge or 7mgte just fine. It will eventually break though. somewhere around 350hp. It will hold up for a long time, but if you drive it a lot, something will break.

best to switch to an R154 from an MK3 if you plan on making big power.

  • @Lkjbl i got 412 Whp out of my 1jzgte NA motor

  • @samubabe101 lol that doesn't exist...

  • @TireShredder Yes it does I have a 1jz mk2 supra Na motor no turbo. if you want i can send you a vid i will even say your name if you want. My father built this car about three years ago as a mid life crisis car

  • @samubabe101 412whp out of a 2.5Litre motor and no turbo? without alcohol or nitro, you're dreaming. please, post a video and I will eat my own shirt.

  • BULL SHIP! - the 1jzgte (z/g) = Turbo = Freggin posted 1jzgte, thats twin Turbo, that motor comes TURBO, NOT N/A (I have a 7M-GE) (N/A = Non Turbo) Mk3 and i need to dyno after my rebuild, gotz all the aftermarket parts and should be at 275 HP, but i doubt the dyno will show it much more than this 1 (however Power Curve of the 7m is great.

  • im kinda lost but what does the n/a mean?

  • naturally aspirated. - no turbo

  • doin same upgrade could use some insite about wiring mods to make it work could you please help my supra get back on road, set me free ! thanx steve.

  • Wow good job and good power.

  • 200ft/lbs of torque, I like. So glad that your efforts and hard work paid off more than expected with the engine build and swap! Now it's time to get some new camshafts and get rid of that supra smoothness for loapy NA power! ;) JK the car is perfect how it is now.

  • Sick build stevo

  • Thanks alex. I am very happy with the car right now. The shop also took a video of my dyno with a better camera. He should have the uploaded by tomorrow.
