@AyumiMamia Whats the point of this festval is? To have fun, to dance, don't sell anything, built creative things and at last: Burning down the big man-sculpture!
I show this to everyone interested, although I'm the only one that hasn't yet gone, I think this rendition tells the story best. Dancing in a smoke tornado, what!! I hope the flame never goes out~

Great video. 2008 will be my 9th straight Burning MAn, and 2002 still stands out as one of my favorite years. Great theme, great temple, great art, awesome weather, low dust... one of the best ever.
@milan0c00kies bonnaroo is amazing the 3 day fest of good music with hardly 7 bathrooms for 70,000 people at 102 degrees is an experience plus the silent disco is pretty beast
Ok dudes! Whe just saw this and vowed to each other that nothing were to stand in our way in our quest to join this place and this experience. Belive me when I write this.. you have 2 new members with you...
tired of seeing news from iraq and afghan about people dying and getting blown up?----GO TO BM 2007!---as you can see, no politics or images of the various invasions we are committing around the world---you know--- like how the germans didnt have to think about what was happening in aushwitz---turn off the news, drop the paper, cover your ears and close your eyes until you arrive at BM 2007 and: HAVE FUN!
2002 my first year! Thanks for sharing, I have goose bumps all over as I watched the (late) Contessa sail across the Playa and the fire devils at the Burn. I was there at the very same moment in time.
David Best's Temple that year stands out in my mind as one of the most moving things I've ever seen. I spent sunrise after sunrise there..
I have a snapshot slide show from my 2006 trip. I actually got to frog bog, and to fly over the city that you and I love.
So, let's say a guy does what he can to help society....gives to the homeless, what have you. If he spends one week out of 365 days at burning man, are the other days of his life now null and void to you? Completely? Here's an idea, oathtao. Shut up, buy a ticket, go to burning man....and FIND OUT how many people share your concerns. You'll probably find quite a few. But here's the thing: everyone deserves a fucking vacation.
Tell you what...while these guys go out and have the time of their lives, the forgotten are swallowing their pride and begging for a fucking dime to eat on. If you're going to enduldge in "liberating"-psychedelic-hedonism at least admit you're pumping $ into a week of blissful social denial, weeks worth of lethargic recovery, and a good case of the E-shits.
its not there problem that people are starving out there, i give money to the poor and all that, but you gotta think why spend your whole life helping them when its not much to your concern? some of them got themselves where they are today, not talking about children born into poverty
some people give everything they have worked for to the poor when they have a shitty life themselves
oh yea our environment is fucked anyway so burning a gigantic effigy in the desert really isn't going to hurt anything/matter... we are all going to die and so is this planet, might as well set things on fire, do some hallucinogens and have fun fellowshipping with your fellow people (and animals) in the desert =)
oathtao, nobody said these people are "totally aware" or enveronmentally concious, in fact the only thing most of these people had in common is they all wanted to have fun and take a vacation from normal life with psychedelic drugs in the desert without being arrested like everywhere else in this country.. I don't think they are hurting anybody.
amaizingggggggggg !! burning man isnt all about certain lables of society (hippies, burners, etc.) its for every one that likes to get away from their every day life and go out enjoy the life they wish to have every day !!
Really nice piece. this year meant alot to me at BM- my cousin Danielle who was only 24 and a mother, was senselessly murdered. Here name was engraved with others upon a memorial plaque inside the top of the lighthouse base, along with another memorial dedicated to the firemen of NYC 9/11. I hosted 5 japanese students, 3 of whom came to America specifically for the BM experience. They didn't speak any english and me, no japanese. it all worked out great.
I'm so trying to go there next year or so for my birthday =D
