I really wanted to try but I can´t find Mochiko flour in Portugal -.-' bahh

btw what is that thing you put in the middle?

  • @ShimizuYue Mochiko is the same as glutinous rice flour, which can be found in about all asian markets and the thing he put in the middle is anko, which is red bean paste.

  • coconut milk isnt mandatory and it dosent give the mochi the flavour lol i really thought you had a heavy filipino accent. awesome vid go asians!

  • really? what would you use then? what'd you use? lol thanks for the vid comment btw =]

  • @DIMSUM41 Yeah, you really don't need the coconut milk. Ngayon nga lang ako nakakita ng mochi recipe na may coconut milk eh. And you don't necessarily need to steam it. You can use the microwave. ^w^

    Here's the recipe I use:

    - 1 cup mochiko flour (glutinous rice flour)

    - 1 cup water

    - 1/4 cup granulated white sugar (you can use brown sugar if you want)

Then, you mix all of them in a bowl, and once the flour is completely dissolved, put it in the microwave in 3-min. intervals until it inflates.

  • is the coconut milk mandatory? does the coconut milk give the taste of the mochi? and can we use food coloring for the mochi?

  • and what did you use, dessicated coconut or the potato starch?

  • yes coconut milk is mandatory, i think its a combined taste of the mochiko and coconut milk that gives it its taste, and the sugar to make it sweet, i used potato starch, i dont really like coconut LOL

  • how much servings did you make?

  • Wow, I didn't know what people were talking about, in the comments, with your fake accent, until the last 30 sec lol! Nice one! =) Great tutorial as well! =D

  • lol i enjoyd the video! u put on that accent so well! Ive been looking for recipes of Mochi...usually they dont have coconut in them....also another one used wheat starch so that it doesnt become hard the next day...thought u might be interested!
