Danish is a germanic language.Meaning that it has a germanic root.

  • @doubleAAbatteries687 All scandi languages branch from germanic roots. All scandinavians colonized from germanic europe.

  • @Greennaxx123 Awesome! So, what does it mean? :-) It's amazing how similar yet different the Germanic tongues are. English is closely related to Old High Germanic, and so are the Northern tongues like Danish, though it is hard to tell by looking at them or hearing them LOL!!

    >.<

  • @Qaoz

Du har fat i noget! :D

  • @DaMusicFTW I can speak good Danish; and I'm German.

  • @PrussianElite Thumbs up to you, sir! : )

  • @DaMusicFTW LOL alligevel ! No shit Sherlock! XD

  • @DaMusicFTW then how come as an american, it's easy for me :D

  • @Bonnis1 you just plain dumb.... Remember we created norwegian language and its actually the original danish language thats spoken by norwegians now-a-days

  • The Finnic branch and the Hungarian branch split from each other before Indo-European languages started to split, so they're related, but they're veeeeery distantly related. Finnish is far more closely related to Estonian, Ingrian, Karelian, etc. Idk why everybody keeps bringing up Hungarian. I guess it's because it's better known.

Men nice nok!;-)

  • Norwegian is the superiour language of Scandinavia. Deal with it, danefags.

  • Nice xD

  • The most difficult danish word to pronounce is "følelser" (feelings).

We had an exchange student for a year and she learned to speak danish almost fluently in one year - but "følelser" was impossible xD

    Good luck :D

  • HARD language to learn---even the other scandinaveans don't understand them. They say the Danes are sound like they all have marbles in their mouths. Farvel--

  • sagde hun lige "nice"?

    she said nice!? idiot

  • @MILLA306 du sagde "røv" hihi

  • The way we pronounce leverpåsteg is fucked up. "ler-på-steg" weird...

  • @Mrxiiijojjo lever-postej evt :P

  • @DjPoomY No1 pronounces it like dat AND YOU KNOW IT ;P

  • I just saw a video about Norwegian language (I'm curious being Italian and I just realized I never heard languages from north eastern Europe). Is it just my impression or it's very similar to Norwegian? is it the same branch? Like Italian with Spanish and French? Do you understand each other a bit like we do? I'm going to stalk some Swedish and Finnish video now I got curious:)

  • @ceridwen04 yes danish swedish and norwegian is pretty much almost the same, thats why we like to make jokes about each other

  • @MartinCABUNJ18 That's nice to know...I always feel bad that we know so little about countries in the northern-east part of Europe. In our history book you appear with the "war of 30 years" (1618-1648) and then nothing again untill the communism...it's a shame! especially now that we are all part of the UE. By any chance do you have some romance that could help me learn a bit about your history/culture? Like the "dance of Natasha" for Russian culture?

  • @ceridwen04 I am danish so i can only speak from the danish point of view. Norwegian is basically the same as danish just with a different accent. I understand and read norwegian very well. Swedish is harder for danes to understand although the majority of the danish population understand swedish. Finnish is nothing like danish, norwegian or swedish!

  • @ceridwen04 Well I can give you Finnish point of view. Finnish is not indoeuropean language so its nothing like these 3 others, except many borrowed words from swedish. We study swedish so we know that danish, norwegian and swedish are very similar, I understand best swedish and then norwegan, written danish but not spoken so well, it's hard, weird and.. not so nice soundingx) Finnish is related to Estonian and Hungarian, we can understand Estonian pretty well but not a single word of hungarian!

  • @ceridwen04

Danes, Swedes and Norwegians understand each other pretty good. But the accent is different. The two closest accents are Norwegian and Swedish, who understand each other better, than they understand danish. But in written language, Danish and Norwegian are the closest. For me(a dane) ready Norwegian, is like reading something written in an older version of Danish. The reason for this is, that Bokmål(Book language) was made by danes, while Nynorsk(New Norwegian)

  • @ceridwen04

is closer to the spoken Norwegian. Anyhow, danes and norwegians understand each other pretty good. But Finnish is not related to the other nordic languaged. It's related to Hungarian, Estonian and some smaller languages spoken by some tribes in Russia. The two other languages related to the Scandinavian languages are Faroese and Islandic, they are close to each other, but not so close to Danish, Norwegian and Swedish. They are kinda like Old Norse, what the vikings spoke.

  • ØL=beer im in love :D (no homo)

  • Oh yeah, and dont forget Roskile Festuge. Or Tuborg, now that we are talking 'bout drunkness anyways... Lols.

  • Oh yeah, and dont forget Roskile Festuge.

  • And we export alot more than we import, Also WW2, about us giving up, it was 2 millions vs 80. Oh yeah, and don't forget Handball, a danish popular earupean sport, and dont forget our succesfull football player Michael Laudrup either. We also let alot of refugees into our country when other refuses, we dont get taught in school that we are saviors or anything, not that we are better than everyone else either. We have done alot for this world, We even once ruled half of England, so GTFO haters.

  • Let me come up with some facts, Denmark came up with Lego, Danish Pastry, The Fermidom, HC. Andersen, Syno-Pal (for highways), The Typewriter, The Krarup Cable, The Femi-X, The O-Ring, C++ Programming, The Drum Motor, The Ussing Chamber, The MWR, The Dry Cell Battery (Duracell), Fiber Trim, The Corn Tresher, The fucking pH Scale, Dogme 95, Electromagnetic Core, Telegraphy, and Hex the board game, we also kinda figured out atom fusion before anyone else, and we run almost completely on windmills.

  • @DudeTheDanish and bluetooth

  • @sonaryy

We did not invent Bluetooth. The name comes from Harald Blåtand (Harald Bluetooth). The technology is Swedish.

  • @DudeTheDanish You had me at lego....

  • @DudeTheDanish Don't forget the Speekers :D

  • @DudeTheDanish We (Denmark) also invented the tape recorder, the speaker, Ostomy bag, the procedure when brewing beer, endoscope, :D

  • Nice? Nice er engelsk? spade ;)

  • @Strandingen Mange engelske ord kommer fra dansk :D

  • i am danish ;3

  • What about Røgede Ørreder ø=oe or something

  • i want to learn Danish....!!!!!!!

  • @TheNatalia04

You should, it's an awesome language!

  • So many angry people in here - amazing. Now I better unertand why danish people are rated as the most happy people. Not because they are happy but because of all the anger around Denmark.

  • @segato75 haha you cracked me up =) thanks.

  • @segato75 you want to know why we are called the most happy people? because we dont run around and shoot each other every fucking day and we dont have to rob each other because we all are equal so might stop critizize other countries and focus on your own and make it better???

  • @Sobstobo not entirely true.. @segato75 isn't right either tho.. Different psychological terms are the reason we're so happy. There is documentaries from many experts all over the world made about this.

The main reason is, that danish people usually don't have too high expectations, so where a lot of people in America cry over that they can't be a movie star, a danish person would love his position as a dustman, and nobody wouldn't think at was a pathetic job.

    Danish people are very respectfull.

  • @x0vergaard *Nobody would think

  • @segato75 I'm sure New Zealanders do better, except on the road.

  • oh i loved this video!

  • OMG :/

  • @WannaBeNoteee If you don't have anything good to say, then just fuck off.

  • The most difficult word in danish: videre. [ve'ðɔ'ɔ]

Good luck, my dear foreigners XP

  • @MrJeberg sporvognsskinneskidtskraber-assistent - go !

  • @MrJeberg how did you get "ð" its not a danish letter

  • @hansmikkelsen It's phonetic language, and ð is used in phonetics.

  • @MrJeberg challenge accepted

  • @TPKKPT Would'nt I have to be Danish to be un-patriotic? No I am just one of many foreigners that will come away from Denmark with a bad taste in my mouth. Why dont I move? You can bet your life I wont be spending 1 minute longer here than I have to. Its my job to try and help you but that does'nt mean I have to like you.

  • @TheKetchupGuy1 Do you seriously believe Denmark had anything to do with the discovery of AC? Look it up before you say such things, it just makes you look like a royal tit. Its probably not your fault I am sure you just swallowed some of the Danish propaganda that gets pumped out in your schools to make you believe you are worth something. You would of done better going the HC Andersen/Lego route that TheMicroGirl went, at least she probably got a few sympathy votes.

  • Its funny reading these comments, all you Danes trying to flame TheClaranceter for his ramblings. Guys, you need to face facts 99% of what he is saying is true. Danes are bottom feeders, yo
