They had the superb vocals of Mick Pealing back then and of course Mals great licks. The one thing they didn't have was great songs clearly illustrated by this garbage. Luckily one of Australia's greatest songwriters Andrew Durant joined the band and the result was argueably one of our greatest bands.

I agree. Australia was seriously rocking in the 70's with world class rock bands singing original songs - think Stars - Thorpie - Sherbet - AkkaDakka etc
i wish the record companys mushroom etc would release there old albums on cd and i cant wait for that to happen stars were a' shit hot aussie band they boogied andy durant 1 hell of a'guitar player and of cause don't forget mal come on we need stars music on cd now please.
this mob came to my school in either 75 or 76, they were fantastic, also had the angels come as well when the keystone angels, they werent half bad either!!!
How underated were they !. They were to sophisticated & clever for the pop world. It's too bad good music is not popular in Australia. Mick Pealing still sounds as good as ever.
@ukuleleph yeah too right brother, same as jimmy barnes. they stuck it up molly and got shit canned for it. stars had a huge folowing back in their day. rock on brother
i saw these guys live supporting the Angels and hush they were great memories. thanks for bringing them back. John Farnham modelled himself on these guys i reckon Stars indeed
Indeed Mr Puny.......John Farnhan reckons Mick Pealing is one of Australias best voices and along with Braithwaite i would have to agree with him.....Mick still plays gigs in melbourne and STILL sounds the same !!.........
These guys did an Australian tor with AC/DC in 1977

who was the lead guitar ?
wgooda 1 year ago
@wgooda That's the great Mal Eastick on lead guitar - still touring.
The late great songwriter Andy Durant joined the band later as rhythm guitarist.

Fuck me man, no tougher crowd to please than a 70s Oz (and probly NZ too) pub crowd. Bands back then earned their dues or died in the arse.
