  • My eyeees! What a color pixel mess on the title! Looks like raging purple crab suddenly found itself at the middle of toxic acid swamp. Dunn's/Whittaker's music is good as usual though.

  • @dmaystre The loading screen is not the best and the game frankly was rubbish........the music though is pretty impressive, Dunn and Whittaker are my two favourite composers ever.

  • @dmaystre Probably because the ZX Spectrum 128 can only have 2 colours per character block and only 8 system colours.

  • Jonathan Dunn DID compose the music for Platoon, Whittaker ported it to the Spectrum.

    quote from Dunn:

"David Whittaker just converted my music over to the spectrum. I'd only just started at Ocean and was originally only hired to do music for the c64, but eventually ened up doing every known platform under the sun."

From forum posts at oceanexp proboards com

Both great composers, hadn't heard the speccy version before. Thanks for the upload.

  • @hb129 Well I'll be....it's funny what you learn these days! Thanks for the information and no problem at all with the upload.

  • Crap game but brilliant music.

  • @kedeuger The game wasn't very good no but the music is awesome, classic Whittaker!

  • I really wanted this game to be good when I bought it back then, having loved the film, the music was excellent ,the game a bit shit, still played it a lot though.

  • @rob1969in Yeah it was brick hard, tried to make a video of it the other day and got nowhere with it! Great music though, Whittaker's my favourite of the composers.

  • @Otouto72 Agreed, Whittaker was one of the best - this one was Dunn, wasn't it?

  • @fentoc No this one was Whittaker's. Dunn made a number of tunes for Ocean/Imagine but this wasn't one of them. Dunn was one of the best too. =)

  • So the the guy playing Elias was Barney the Dinosaur, then....?

  • @supahdupahguy81 This may have been the inspiration on Barney being that colour, too bad Barney never emulated the scene, it would have been impossible to miss him.

  • Mmmm... Old good music!

  • @Repne64Bit Er I'm sorry but this comment was marked as spam =S Yes this is quality music, I love this tune =)

  • Goes along with Ocean's Rep of good music in bad games.

  • @JKAFinal Yep I totally agree with you. The music is awesome (well I would not expect anything less than Whittaker =D) the game was very difficult - typical Ocean difficulty!

  • Please can I download this music as an mp3 somewhere??. I think it's wonderful and want to remix it with some heavy kick drums and dirty high-hats..

  • @homePicShow1 Sent you a pm on the topic mate, any problems just whistle =D

  • this game was awful... I never figured out what to do in the jungle :S

  • @fusionvillage It was too bloody difficult. Ocean released a lot of brick hard games over the years!

  • epic Spectrum rendition of the theme music. i only have the NES port of Platoon which is good, yet hard to beat (especially the last stage which is reminiscent of the "3-D base" sequences in Contra)

  • @figment1988 This was is very hard too, I got nowhere with it. And this music is fabulous, composed by David Whittaker, my favourite of the 8-bit composers.
