as you see in the photos...the "rich" community were saved. "Riverland Estates"& "Bevs on the River/Hilton" (not "in" the river...not so funny pun) had NO....NONE...ZIP...NADA help from any government or aid!! BS!!!!!!!!!
These floods were caused by the Army Corps of Engineers who operate all the dams. They knew about excessive snow melt and heavy rains coming from MT and WY but didn't release water ahead of it to even out the run off. They held back water at all the dams until they were overflowing. Bringing the water levels down ahead of the runoff would have prevented much of the damage. This is what happens when the powers that be have the foresight of a goldfish.
NOT GOOD! ACE may get sued by a sh*t-ton of people over this. Lets face it, they could have prepared a little better by releasing more water over the winter months which they did not do. Every reservoir on the MO river is at max capacity. Gavins Point will be pushing 150,000 cfs though August...lets face it, its going to get a lot worse downstream.....
as I type June 12, 9 PM CST,,there is a gigantic storm system dumping buckets of rain across south and north dakota,,+ all the massive rainfall dumped past 2 days across the Mighty Mo's river system + combined with the Dam's release of 120,000 CFM at the mouth of the Mighty Mo arriving at Sioux and Omaha on tuesday and wednesday, and throughout the summer. Torrential Rain on top of a flood.
Expect $5 a loaf for bread, unless the wealthy want to subsidize so as not to frighten the poor
i always wonder why folks build massive homes right next to a river...if they have that much money it would be wise to build the house up on 6 ft poles
@PREPAREFORTHEKING Might be wise, but most people don't plan for the 500 year flood. Plus homes on 6 ft poles are more common in Louisiana than South Dakota!

the 1993 floods were bad that's nothing compared to the wide spread damage that's happening and will probably happen all summer!
