@deserteagle97 -Often times they are built from scratch by the rider. I have built 3 woods and 2 aluminum sleds in the past 15 years.

@Shad0hawK Yeah...They actually closed the road down for us this year for 6 runs (3 on Saturday, 3 on Sunday). It was very nice of the local authorities to make the unscheduled road closures. They are really cool guys and seem to appreciate our appearance, so long as we continue to stick to the legal guidelines/rules they set up with us.

And yes, they did pull us over just to bust our chops every now and then... :)

Nah, man don't think so, but looking forward to Talimena 2010 in two weeks!!!

thanks for the comments on my video! that mental picture of me with my leg in a guardrail(or left behind in one!?) pretty much did the trick! I'm trying to learn and do this right and NOT look like I learned SL at the '9-1-1 School of Thrill Sports'.

I haven't ridden around guard rails yet...but the mental image of that was all I need to not steer with inside leg(or that much)again.

Actually they are safer than you in your car. do YOU wear leathers and a helmet when you drive 70 next to some ditz who is texting or lost on a phone call? Yeah...you can wipe out. but you are in WAY more control than the rest of the world surrounds us with most often. It is CRAZY on every street everyday...but not because of these guys. If anything you can trust a street luger to be a better driver in or OUT of a car. The attention is FAR more than the average driver gives to the road.

Ha!!! you hang glide too!!? Nice vids! I have an old but REAL NICE Vision Mark 4 I fly at the coast.

I think that if you do hang gliding and street luging you are able to get a 'James Bond Club' card.

I have not been tow rated. I think you guys actually have it better than foot launch, here. Must have lots of nice thermals there.

I figured I would ask since I have spent enought time looking at yer shoes! Are those Bowling shoes???? Wow what a different life they are now leading! My SL shoe brakes are made from the inner boots of roller blades. They had no rubber sole(since they were once encased in the plastic wheel housing)until I glued the tire tread to them! They work great.

Thanks for this newest one...I watched your skyline one a bunch of times and I have both downloaded to my psp(see my psp goggles!!)so I can enjoy it even if I am laying down resting! Streetluge falls under skateboarding and according to city Ordinance No. 175211 you can skateboard *almost* anywhere you want as long as you follow traffic laws of which are applicable to bikes. The maximum fine for breaking those rules is $25. I wonder though that if a speeding ticket on a luge would only net you a fine of $25.

DESIRE--GUTS--MONEY. I 1st buyilt a simple wooden luge and had fun. My 4th luge is the one I really really like. to do this right you need a decent luge;leathers practice time and a good place to ride. Luge;leathers; helmet; gopro camera, etc. I'm into it about $1,400. U can spend less-U can spend way more. Most important to do it right and safe. Respect the sport and riders working to instill and grow respect for SL. As you can see...these guys GET it! I LOVE this video. Should get an award.

while there are a few places/people who make them custom or for sale...many riders make their own. There are plans for wooden ones(they work great)on the I-net. I have built 4 so far. The fourth is hybrid of wood/metal and fiberglass. I love it. You can see it on my channel(best shown on the new leathers video). More and better action vids coming!!!
