If the tax money and jobs created by Texas were lost to the US the economic situation in the US would be far worse than it already is. I hope you're not seriously stating that the Continental United States plus Alaska and Hawaii needs Texas more than Texas needs the U.S. Yes, losing any state by secession would cause great difficulty for the country, but I'm willing to bet that the balance of the states would survive, just as I'm willing to bet that Texas would not, at least not for long. That's a good point. Texas is a good political influence for the US, although I don't agree with its views on criminal justice and imprisonment.

There's also an intermediate solution to succession: withdrawal from the monetary union of the US. That would mean reclaiming its right to print its own gold/silver certificates for use as currency. I think a few other states have already started the process.
